Not quite yet, but I appreciate it.

To be fair, both UB and PFAA do this. And with UB I think you can craft 4 cobble in a square into regular cobble, if that suits you oh high master of the serverI will remember your kindness, when I take over the world. YOur Services are quite valuable.
-
I came to the conclusion that I absolutely HATE UB. Why the hell do I need 50 flavours of cobblestone? I thought it was a GT hardmode server, not "muh pretty block server"

Mojang removed the adventure mode ?Release 1.8
In the 14w02 snapshots, Adventure Mode was given a massive overhaul. No blocks can be destroyed, not even with the right tools, and no blocks can be placed (things can be interacted with, however). Mapmakers now have the ability to give tools permission to destroy certain blocks and blocks permission to be placed on certain blocks. Barriers were even added, starting in 14w05a. -
So, no more map restarts?

And what about me? I want it, too, please)

RAMDisk can give you much faster random-acces time that is used a lot when playing MC. Especially with a lot of players. I used RAMDISK for my vanilla single player way back when I didn't have SSD yet and it increased performance significantly. With this much RAM the server has and without SSD it is very reasonable to use RAMDISK.
Bollocks, that's increasing instability, unreability and generally more riscfull than a normal HDD. And generally, it's about RAM, not abou drive access. Any normal 7200rpm HDd is far more than sufficient.

From IRC:
[14:22] backupside is done.. I think
[14:27] http://pastebin.com/iR8xCS3J <-- o_O
[14:28] probably needs some finetuning still
[14:28] but it seems to work
[14:32] mr10movie: looks like you might be luckyLooks like the server'll be ready soon
His obsession with RAM-drives is ridiculous

Sooooo,... Gt is up and running, is it time yet?

Removal Suggestions:
MPS (It really doesn't fit the IC2 techtree or feel. I think a lot of people love it though. DEBATE!)
Applied Thermodynamics (Abandoned?)
Glenn's Gasses (I suggested it, but honestly after 2 worlds with it, it doesn't feel like something that fits in IC2)33 mods sounds nice.
Agreed.

AE2 networks with less than 8 Parts need no controller anymore. So small sub networks are really easy now.
Oh, great, that is really cool. I should read up on AE2.
-
But, you need a controller, and that's friggin expensive.
-
Or greg could do what we've asked him to do for ages, and add BC GT pipes or something. And I usually have my engines right next to my forestry farms and stuff, and use AE to transport items there.
We've got oil from PFAA.We have a PROMISE on oil in PFAA, no oil yet
yeah, greg, could you add GT BC power pipes? And maybe since you are fiddling with generators, maybe a better alternative to forestry's engines? So that they could be entirely replaced?
-
And what about BC power transfer? Can't you just leave pipes and oil sources?
-
Still, we have forestry, but no buildcraft? That's at least impractical.
-
Why not? Vehicles, guns and such fits well the tech pack we have. Mostly for PvE (especially TC4 [tainted] mobs, even more with no natural regen), but PvP on controlled arenas would be good too.
I would not add vehicles. Never heard of a singel mod, where it looks pretty. IMHO Vehicles and guns do not fit minecraft at all, too shitty combat+movement system for that.
-
I dont think grief will be a problem on this server and we dont need flame throwers, just rifles and pistols, and those could maybe use GT rounds on its ammo recipe.
Aren't all weapon mods buggy as hell`?
-
Why actually no buildcraft, if I might ask?
-
Im getting awfully excited about this.
Same here

@ramdisk: I would not have to use a ramdisk but 32 GB .. that is so much that there is no reason not to do it. And I would still need the backup and startup scripts anyway so why not ?
EDIT: Of course there is a risk with power outage and things, but I do not think that is likely to happen in the data center.
@Patreon: Thanks for the tip! Interesting site (even with the community stigmatization). However it does not really match the "I run a server" as I will not produce actual content. They also do not support onetime payments.Your obsession with ramdisks seems destructive to me. And still not convinced that a dedicated server is really needed.
But, I mean, it's your piece of cake how to do things.
