Cooling cells should also provide some minor cooling (less than a normal vent ofc)

Totally agree.
In fact, I just made a successful version of this type of reactor. Problem is, with the current "bug" where quad uranium cells burn up 4X as fast, we only get about 75% efficiency.
Still how is it better than a simple mark 1 reactor that requires no maintenance at all?
-
The planner is bugged which causes overclocked vents to be a lot cheaper than they are supposed to. 16 copper it was i think.
-
It is decent. But Zombe's 280EU one has much better eff with just a litle less eu/t
I may ad it if somebody improves it a bit so its cheaper.
-
Quad cells are more efficient, though. Furthermore, I've yet to encounter a copper shortage after my first serious mining expedition. Quite the contrary, I often skip copper while mining just because I don't have anyplace to put the stuff.
They are not put 4 single cells next to each other and you got a cheap quad cell.
It should be added because you are simply increasing the fuel costs. It can get quite expensive per cycle.

Mine:
http://www.talonfiremage.pwp.b…kzna5mrs145ga23dzq26j2800
Copper: 445
Tin: 151
Iron: 277
Gold: 26Yours: http://www.talonfiremage.pwp.b…nvtbw3ty0gbfg5qt6blzlk3k0
Copper: 446
Tin: 128
Iron: 238
Gold: 50Sure it's 1 less chamber, but it's also:
Copper: +1
Tin: -23
Iron: -39
Gold: +24So that change to my design costs almost twice the amount of gold. Is +24 Gold and +1 Copper worth saving 39 Iron and 23 Tin? I'd rather spend a little more Iron and Tin and have 5 Chambers than spend 24 more Gold and have 4 Chambers. How are we classifying what an "Improvement" is? At what point is 1 less Chamber worth the extra Gold?
Edit: Also, was messing with that re-design and found you could make a pretty safe Mk2 design and save 2 Gold.
http://www.talonfiremage.pwp.b…z9dk7vu1dloocb3vbxm12db7k
Mk2-E EA*
Eu/tick: 140
Efficiency: 7 (Uses neutron reflectors)
Cost: Iron 238, Copper 446, Tin 128, Gold 48
Requires 1min 20sec cooldown between cycles.Edit2: Ok Zombie I updated my post. I did post a bug to the Planner thread because I'm pretty sure it's not calculating Copper costs correctly for the Overclocked Heat Vents. But I'm not sure why the resource amounts got thrown off when I was writing this the first time.
Edit3: I think to arrive at the true Copper cost, we should take the total number of Overclocked Heat Vents and multiply them by 16 Copper each. On the planner the current difference between an Overclocked Heat Vent and a Heat Vent is 2 gold. But to make an Overclocked Heat Vent it requires a Reactor Heat Vent plus 2 Gold. A Reactor Heat Vent requires a Heat Vent plus 16 Copper.
So my design uses 13 Overclocked Heat Vents, so the planner should add an additional 208 Copper.
The other design uses 17 Overclocked Heat Vents, so the planner should add an additional 272 Copper.
So I think it would cost an additional 64 Copper. There isnt much other uses for gold anyway so i rather spend more gold and save on iron and tin.
About the copper cost for overclocked vents that might make quite a big difference xd.

Updated the list with this design.

three letters: S, D, Q
also, this is only important if the lower duration of dual and quad cells is NOT a bug. i only heard people saying that it is, but i haven't seen alblakas statement to this claim. maybe i just missed the post.Doesnt matter single cell uranium doesnt require copper while quad cells require quite a bit of copper. Burning up single cells is cheaper.
-
It would be important to know if a design uses single, dual or quad cells. They cost quite alot and you simply burn those resources up.

7 EF Reactor that uses reflectors like the one TheBard made but with one less chamber, uses 1 extra copper bar and some more gold but less tin/iron.
http://www.talonfiremage.pwp.b…vnl3r0h3n0l62l2hv23wkjzsw
4 Chambers, EF 7 (reflectors), 140 eu/t.
Cost: 446 Copper, 128 Tin, 238 Iron, and 58 Gold.
8 gold saved:

Forum acting weird wait till i fixed it
EDIT: Gave up on fixing this post too tired gonna sleep

Haven't posted here before, but here it goes.
http://www.talonfiremage.pwp.b…d83b78y8enonfoolys5g23280
One chamber, 100 eu/t, 3.33 EF
Cost is 74 Copper, 25 Tin, 98 Iron, 22 Gold.
Added nice design
Also added a new rule about breeders. They have to manage their heat automatically (use heating cells for this).
-
Why do you have twice as many cooling towers as I have in my build? That's probably where you are getting your numbers wrong.
Ummm... you didn't keep reading and find that design? Although it's only 336 cooling, not 372.
The component coolers are touching the cooling cells 93 times in total. 93*4 = 372 cooling.
I just made that design in 10 sec by spamming the components in it. Pretty oblivious its the same as in the op since its a good design to cool your stuff.
-
Railcraft loader/unloaders? They are pretty nifty too now maybe they can see the difference too.
-
Too much babysitting for that breeder. I think iam gonna make it a rule that a breeder shouldnt require babysitting to prevent it from cooling/heating up. It should do that automatically now thats possible with heating cells.
-
I already have a cooling unit for this:
Cool http://www.talonfiremage.pwp.b…neb9uwtvtvirhtrf1az77rfuo your nukes
Doesnt exactly cools alot. Only 6 per cell and 18 cells can fit in there so thats a poor 114 cooling.
This one cools 27 cells at a total rate of 372 cooling. Cooling rates per cell vary a bit but the in the worst case its 8. On average it cools 13,77 per cell.

I've almost completed my working design of a *working* LZH-condensator replacing reactor,
complete with "cooling rooms" (where it auto-crafts them back to full) and fully automatic replacement of the LZH's when they reach breaking point.I just can't really do it reliably without redpower, so I'm kinda waiting on that, even though everything else is set up and working correctly.
How do you detect when a LZH is empty?
-
Cactus farms work too and other mods have some more uses for cactus.
-
Not sure how a 160 EU/t Eff 4 reactor is a replacement to a 420 EU/t Eff 3 reactor? Its also way too expensive. The components are not used optimally.
Something like this is already tons better: http://www.talonfiremage.pwp.b…rhjh7anmwoyjmxr1n0sh95728
-
Automatically replacing them is another problem. Since they store only 100k heat you may end up replacing them before the cycle has ended.
So whats the point in using condensators? They only seem to cost alot to make and to maintain. I rather use vents because they are just better.
