Hello all, just had a very bothersome bug occurred to me. Looked around, but didn't see anyone was having the same problem. I was wearing
    1-freshly craft bronze helmet
    1-freshly crafted bronze leggings
    1-freshly crafted bronze booties
    1 freshly charged lap-pack

With my brand new set of armor, I began to run around burning time till night. I fell 5 blocks, taking 1 heart of damage. feeling quite stupid, I checked my armor for damage. I was shocked to find that the armor had dropped to 66% durability! I then thought it was a strange occurance, so I tried again, from the same height, and my helmet almost broke, and everything was at almost 0% durability!

    Mods installed:
    Modloader 1.1
    Modloader MP 1.1
    Forge 1.3.1 (I think, it's the most up-to-date one I know, though.)
    All buildcraft 2.2.12
    All Redpower 2.0pre4d
    IC2 1.64

Overzealous eh? You frigging nubs got no idea what he said. I was there, and he was being a complete troll and douchebag, so as far as I'm concerned he deserved what he got, he's trolled in multiple places on here. Keep your opinions to yourself when you don't know what the heck is really going on, because that is just what they are, uneducated opinions. There are rules here that have to be followed, and if they aren't followed then you get punished. FYI I don't do anything mod related other than move the occasional thread when it gets put in the wrong place and the owner of the thread asks for it to be moved, shoot I don't even have the banhammer, so before you make more assumptions, get the facts.

Although harsh, I have to agree with you, if I stand from your perspective. IMHO, this is one of the best moderated forums I've seen, although with tough bans, it keeps the forums clean and easy to use. It is hard, and probably not correct, for us, the users, to make assumptions based on what we've seen, as more than likely, the post has been deleted before we can even form an opinion on a user. And ook, although the moderators may seem overzealous, it's for the best, as stated previously, the forum is quite tidy and easy to use.

Mk, I've been shopping around on Amazon, as well as a few other places. I found the motherboard z68a, which is a good 40 dollars cheaper then the z68x. Is there any real advantage with going with the more expensive one? I'm having a hard time seeing the difference.
    Gigabyte Z68X

    Gigabyte Z68A

I did notice that they had the same # of SATA connecters, but the Z68X had 4 6Gb/s connectors and 2 3Gb/s connecters, while the Z68A Had 4 3 GB/s connectors, and 2 6gb/s connectors. Not sure if it means the difference of 40 dollars tho.

Well, I suppose I can go with the 460, if you really think it outperforms the 550. That puts me just under 800, which is perfect, gives a little wiggle room for a monitor. I'll shop around craigs list, ebay, and amazon for a deal on a monitor. And I really ought to snatch that 2500k before the deal is over...

Thank you all so very much! If you have any more recommendations, even some games you think I should get (no, I don't want any of those modern shooters, too unrealistic.).

EDIT: Will I need any additional fans for cooling? If so, any recommendations? :Wind Mill:

and i am also wodering if this is worth it http://www.amazon.com/Xpad-Non…-Heatshield/dp/B000PH2E3E .

If you use it a lot on your lap, sure. If on your desk, what I do is place a DVD case(or book) right underneath the point where the screen attaches to the keyboard area. This props up the laptop just a tad, and haven't had any overheating problems since then (my laptop overheated 3 times prior to that, and had emergency shut-downs.)

For the server, no it's is not going to be 24/7, just when my buddies and I get together to play ic2.

I'm honestly not seeing why the 460 is any better than the 550. In fact, it looks like the 550 is better. That and the 550 has a hdmi port, while the 460 has a mini-hdmi

@your edit: I plan on getting linux to start myself off, then when I have a bit more extra cash, going with windows 7 for my op system.

EDIT: AS for a monitor and keyboard, I plan on getting a used monitor, and getting something very cheap for a keyboard. Don't have to worry about a mouse or speakers though.

Thanks Ook, really appreciate it. I think I'll end up going with the hyper 212 Now, I've never done this before, so is there anything special I need to know about installing an -aftermarket fan? What do I do with the stock fan? Is there any use for it? Maybe use it in another port for the case? no idea.

EDIT: Found a REALLY good deal on the i5 2500k, for only $200 including shipping, brand new and sealed. Definitely going with that model. Will probably go with the hyper 212 for cooling, unless I find something else.

Thank you all for the wonderful advice! I think I may end up going with the 2500k core instead of the 2400, depending on how other costs weigh out. User posting about 2 machines, that actually is a good idea, how much ram, cpu power and ghz would the server need to run smoothly with around 3 people on?

@ Conraad I noticed you didn't think my video card wouldn't cut it. Any suggestions on what I should get? I really can't spend over $200, but I am willing to go higher than the current model.
I've thought about cooling, how many fans should I go with. I didn't put it in the list, but I plan on buying a second fan to supplement the psu fan.

EDIT: Any advice on water cooling units? If I go with the 2500k cpu, I'll want to overclock, and certainly don't want to fry it.

Thank you Ultimate! Will seriously consider using the program when I get to that point. Anyone have any problems with steam games/have any workarounds for problems for steam? I heard steam doesn't work well with Linux.

EDIT: As I'm reading more into linux, I'm seeing there are different versions, like Ubuntu and a few others. What would be best for my purposes? What would you recommend?

EDIT2: Currently running Ubuntu instead of Windows 7 on my laptop, and love the look and feel. No idea on game compatibility, but at least it looks good :D

Just guessing, but I don't think the developers feel the need to make any documentation on IC besides the wiki. now, that doesn't stop a 3rd party from putting together some documentation.

For the most part, I don't have a computer to salvage parts from, the only one I might be able to use is quite old. But it still works. As for games, I didn't think about them not working linux, but maybe Skyrim, Star Wars: Empire at War, and maybe a few good looking steam games mixed in. Anyways, using linux is only an option for saving money, If I find it won't work for me, then I'll throw it out completely.
