Save your coal for industrial diamonds and carbon plates - there are so many other sorts of energy to be explored, and many of them are not as horrendously inefficient as coalfuel.

Be sure to make a personal safe as soon as you can - they store as much as a double chest in half the space, and others can't steal your stuff.

My wind farm is 16 mills at level 127, stepped up to EV and run down to the house via 60m of fully insulated HV cable. It generates 500k EU per day and I get 2000 EU out of every packet, losing only 48. I could use glass fibre cable, but spending 15 diamonds for a difference between 97.6% efficiency and 99.9% efficiency is absurd. The setup would need to run for more than 5 hours of play to even recoup the expense of the glass fibre wire. It's just more sensible and cost-effective to use EV and HV cable.

As RawCode has demonstrated elsewhere, he doesn't know what he's talking about.
Yes, gold loses less per block on a "raw" basis, but that loss is per packet. Here's an in-game example: I have a 16-mill wind farm above my house, I need to run a cable 60m down to my house. If I use gold, I will lose 24 EU out of every 128 EU packet (meaning I get 104/128 ). If I step the output up to EV before running it down and use fully insulated HV cable, I lose 48 EU out of every 2048 EU packet (meaning I get 2000/2048 ).
Now, if Einstein here had "learn2match" (you misspelled "math" there, buddy), he would realize that gold cable means you only get about 81% of your actual power output over that distance, while EV means you'll get over 97% of it!
And it's a lot cheaper than using 15 diamonds to make glass fibre cable for the job. -
IC2 dont need any changes to be "ported" to 1.00.
If that were true, you'd be able to use v 1.23 in MC 1.0. I agree with Alblaka - you obviously don't know what you're talking about. -
Thank you kindly, sir. I knew I could count on you! Keep up the good work!

I generally go the route in the Wiki - first I make a generator, then an extractor, then a macerator, then an electric furnace. From there, a lot depends on what I've got to work with by then.
Eventually, my "ideal" workshop has 2 Rotary Macerators, an Induction Furnace, Singularity Compressor and Centrifuge. Yes, I like my advanced machines.

I've got to say, Ecu hit the nail right on the head there.
As much as i appreciate free oppinion, i'm assuming you never created something similar that's either software or a similar artistic value. It fucking hurts to see people copying your stuff.
We do understand that - but that's still your pride standing in the way. When feelings enter the realm of design, that's what I mean about "ego" - it stops being about the best way to deliver solutions and starts being about how to prevent others from doing so. Incompatibility won't change that - ingenuity will. We're talking about software design here - users will have certain tasks they want to perform, and the developer will work to provide the means to do them. It's best if those solutions are unique and imaginative, but there's NO point in doing something the "second-best" way just because someone else did it already.I can understand that you don't want your creativity merely appropriated by others, but in any creative endeavor, people are always going to build off others' ideas. Consider music - there are only 12 notes, no matter how you slice it. There are only certain notes that sound right together, so the number of chords one can play are limited (there are also physical limitations to the chords we can play). Only certain chords or notes can properly precede or follow others. The end result? Every rock musician out there is copying the people that went before him. As they say, we're all stealing from Chuck Berry.
I can understand why Eloraam's actions bother others, I truly do. but I also understand that if I have to use several mods to do these things, rather than one, I have the right to expect they'll be compatible - and if they refuse to be, I would want one mod that does it all. I don't mind using BC and IC and RP together - I know that they're designed to work together and even if there's overlap, it just gives me more options. I would have liked to add BTW to that as well for even broader gameplay - but thanks to FCs decision, that's a dead-end avenue.
I think we'd all prefer if you spend your time continuing to improve IC, instead of disabling sections of other mods we use. Please leave that for US to decide. We use both mods simply because each one offers something we can't get in the other - but I, for one, am uncomfortable with the idea that one mod may be deliberately sabotaging another. Unexpected incompatibility is bad enough, we don't need conflict by design.
Eloraam is not going to drive you out of "business" or banish you to obscuirty by her actions - and that's the only reason I could imagine for you to be concerned in the first place. You just keep doing what you've always done and you're sure to have many fans and admirers.

Should it be added? Bronze isn't an ore, it's a composite of tin and copper...
Regardless, we're talking about the code. Tin and copper ingots (not the ore itself) are interchangeable between RP2 and IC2 - once they are macerated or smelted they are literally the same item.
Bronze, however, is not - and when I asked SirSengir about it, he said it is because IC2 does has not added its bronze to the Ore Dictionary. -
Uhm.. why not use the UUM required for QuantumSuit to produce countless stacks of bones instead? :3
Because you keep forgetting that you can't make bones from UU-M yet. -
Currently I'm waiting to see how RP evolves, but if Eloraam starts copying more stuff from IC, i will probably follow FCs example in a way to enforce incompatibility with RP. I hope that Eloraam will reconsider her idea of creating "The one-and-only" tech-mod, because that implies rivalling IC and BC per definition.
Enforced incompatibility is a disservice to your fans and players. Basically, you force them to choose, one or the other. I've illustrated how I act when put to that extreme - I'd hate to have to choose between two mods I love.
As long as the two of you work together, fans don't have to choose and can use both. Don't make FC's mistake and let ego get in the way of making something people want to use. -
I saw someone suggesting using RedPower to turn cobble into panels - more items for recycling. The downside, of course, is that you need to invest gems in a saw, which is depleted over the course of the process.
It's up to the user to decide whether that's a worthwhile investment. Consider that you need to recycle about 4800 items to get enough UU-M to replace the 2 diamonds you used for the saw. -
Magic 8-ball says "Ban Possibly Forthcoming".
Next time, read the announcements here, too... -
I've made sure to note on the BTW thread that I do understand the reason for his decision and respect his prerogative. My issue is with the way he treats players who are actually interested in the mod. It seems that he and his "fanboys" (how I hate to use that term) are their own worst enemies when it comes to public relations. Every day, I see posts that would discourage me from wanting to try the mod at any rate. Add to that the compatibility issue - as time goes on, it will move from "no guarantee of compatibility" to "Guaranteed incompatibility" as FC uses block IDs currently occupied by other large and popular mods.
It's not his decision that makes him the bad guy - it's the way he's handling it. He's publicly stated that he doesn't care what others think - artistic integrity is all well and good, but if no one's playing the mod, one's work is in vain.
I can understand why Eloraam is doing what she's doing - her initial vision was for a technical mod that did all of those things in one mod, and she's stuck to that. Her priorities have been guided by the fact that some things can already be done in other mods, so those parts can be back-burnered... but FC's withdrawal illustrates why such a vision is needed. If one cannot count on other mods to provide these things because of compatibility issues, it becomes essential to provide them within one's own mod.
I respect the work done by individuals like you, Eloraam and SpaceToad. I respect your candor, your transparency and your willingness to engage with and help your player base. But what this all comes down to is that FC has basically dropped the gauntlet and told his players "You have to choose - do you want BTW in your worlds, or do you want IC/BC/RP?"
I love what you guys are doing and I'm not prepared to give it up just because he wants things his own way. "Does not play well with others" is not a trait I respect in a developer.

I just started using Forestry and noticed that IC bronze is not compatible with it.
It's good that IC copper and tin can be used for RP Brass and Forestry Bronze - but IC Bronze can't be used for that mod until it gets added to the Ore Dictionary. -
My reactor is doing the same thing. It runs produses heat, drains the uraniam, but produses no EUs. I am going to need something a little more detailed than put a redstone current to a transformer. (Didnt even work when I tried it.)
You ask for "Something a little more detailed" but provide no details on your issue.
Classic case of "Garbage In, Garbage Out". -
It is a shame - I was interested in some of the things he did - particularly how he handled wind and water power - and was considering using it in conjunction with IC/BC/RP. But knowing that my worlds are almost guaranteed to break because BTW will no longer be compatible, I am refraining from uisng it.
As for FC's attitude and behavior, his true colors really showed yesterday. Someone complimented him on the mod and said "I can't wait to see it for 1.0" - note how different this is from asking "when/will it be out for 1.0?".
FC got snippy and suggested that the poster must have some kind of defect (yes, his words) that accounts for his inability to wait. Real classy.I think that his attitude will come back to bite him in the end. He sees no need to ensure ongoing compatibility, forcing many of his users to choose between BTW and IC/RP/BC. When someone forces me into a choice, I tend to go with the side that didn't force me. He treats his fans and users like he doesn't need them - in the end, he may find they all leave the mod and then his work is for naught. I can understand that he can't please everyone, but it seems he's trying to displease them all instead.

By all means, feel free to use it! I'm sure it could be polished up a little. I kind of pictured an electic tap sort of like a drill - it bores a hole for the sap.
-
Thanks! You are AWESOME! I appreciate it. when I found that the gasificator IDs were conflicting with Forestry I was like "NOOOOOO"! I wasn't prepared to give up my Advanced Miner - it's good if the two machines I can use would go hand-in-hand with that mod.

My apologies, I'm normally better than that. I thought I did mention that it was Amon's work - if not there, then in another post. I made it before you did the textures for MTT , unaware that you were working on it.
I am sorry - I should have asked, I didn't mean to step on any toes. I just wanted to give the community something better than the defaults. I didn't presume to claim any rights or originality - I admire the work that your team does. I'll be sure to give credit where it's due and I promise I'll be better about asking in the future!
If you wish, I will remove the images and the post.
