Every two weeks or so, I get a sudden urge to nuke my world. I back it up, and take advantage of the rocket science addon. There was this huge crater, and a random chest with a couple shielded blocks behind it.
How do you power this? You might be able to set up a lava source, but I'm not sure if that can be automated. You could use wood for fuel. Do solars and wind work in the End?
Does this even involve IC at all? Derp.
I think the idea is better suited in the forestry mod. You know, farms.

You actually need Equivalent Exchange to make dirt. You can make it from cobbl, but some people are against EE.
Another member (SpawnX I believe?) has a setup that I've re-created and I absolutely love it. Making giant rafts of cables and wind-gens blotting out the sky is beyond fugly.
Instead of having one gen, each hooked to its own dedicated bat-box and a half dozen cables servicing it, you might go for something a bit less efficient and a bit more practical. Take your standard watermill tower and take out the gaps. Essentially, run a cable to the top of the sky and then cover it on all sides with wind-gens to make a tower-cluster. Run that either to a bat-box or straight to a transformer and out into the trunk line. Space the towers apart as you would individual gens on a standard setup. That way you get a more space-efficient design but retain much of the generation power. How tall the towers get would depend on what type of wire you want to use. I'm also experimenting in mitigating the chances for windgens to fizzle tin cables.

So I made this giant Batbox/copper cable to the roof of the sky, and only put about 5 wind gens. I realize that that was a waste of resources and time, and want to know what I should do now..... If you could give instructions for a better setup that would help.
First thing is - you can't be losing 3-5 EU per 2048EU packet on 70-80 block long way. Exact packet loss for 3x Ins. HV cable is 56-64EU per packet when travelling such distance.
You may as well consider using LV long distance cable setup, which can handle 128EU/t (your generators can make max 88EU/t) and loses up to 0%(
Setup looks like this:
- not that expensive (1.2 copper per block of setup +some rubber and wood)(also you don't need diamonds)
- you may argue that 84-96 copper bars is too much, but using diamonds, iron, redstone and other rare stuff is worse in my opinion. Everyone has loads of copper(not sure but i do).

Very good quote... For me, I usually overcome my resource hurtles via alchemical assistance. In 1.7.3, it was Ore Trees. in 1.8.1 it was Apothicarium. Now, in 1.0.0, it's Thaumcraft since I like that style of magic
kand I would rather use it than EE (despite liking the new EE system as of now).
I would really suggest turning to alchemy towards the late game where energy supply is high, but resources start to dwindle. This way, you are rewarded for progressing in your tech, as well as handling your resource needs when technology won't fit the bill...
Get EE, and make an "alchemical flower". Condensers next to collectors, and redstone engines pumping things out. Diamonds in no time! Well, you di have to wait a day and an age, but it is worth it. You can also change iron into tin.
