If you don't want the sounds, delete the ic2 sound folder after instalation. Audiomod works fine when you take away it's targetted files.
Btw, you havn't heard the new ones yet. They're far cry from IC1 and we're just getting started on them. Never know, you might like them. 
How would you integrate the miner and pump into such a system? They really shouldnt be ignored since they are an integral part of a real geothermal system.
The pump is already included, as it can be used to fill water cells (currently bugged, but fixed for 1.0). The miner, I'm not so sure about, as the pump will eventually pump lava too iirc.
I love where this is going. It's basically turned into the Mark 0 nuclear reactor. On that note, it would be cool to have a tradeoff for maximum power/time, much like the reactor is. So you can have a Geo that produces massive eu/s but has to be heavily babysitted, or, on the complete opposite side of the scale, one that produces very little, but will run for ages. Just a thought.

Actually to be honest, I prefer the dentist drill to the new one. While its really annoying, I have begun to associate it to a sort of high tech thing, and a change into an obnoxious jackhammer would lower the tech.
It's not currently a jackhammer sound. Still sounds like a drill, just lower pitch to cut out some of the annoying high frequencies and a few alternate hits so you're not hearing the exact same sound every time. They will be implemented in 1.0, then I'm open to suggestions.
EDIT: Oh, and on a side note, a jackhammer wouldn't fit into my design philosophy. They are pneumatically powered, whereas electrical tools are almost exclusively powered by motors and servos. The sound will fit my concept of how the tool actually functions. I may go as far as drawing up rough schematics on how the machines and tools operate.
Either the (AFAIK "useless") chestplate could be used for this energy flow, or the whole suit could be drawn from equally (better).
Not useless, just buggy. The chest is supposed to protect you from 100% of damage. It's fixed for 1.0 I believe.
I kinda like the idea. At the end of the day, it's all energy being used. Wouldn't be that unfeasable to have a super advanced suit with an energy output.
I don't know of the coding restrictions on this using the same energy for a number of different functions, but it would be a nice touch. Hell, the suits expensive enough.
Would be super cool and good fun if the clay soldiers mod is anything to go by. I think it's outside the standard design for IC2 in general, but it would make a fantastic addon. I just can't get the idea of Robot Wars out of my head. Break out Sir KIllalot and let the scrap fly!

I like the idea in practice, and it could synergise well with other mods (such as using a dispenser + elemental arrow mod to set fire to fuel traps), but tbh, that's about the only use I can think of. I just don't see the point.

This sound is just as annoying as the dentist drill, lol. Plus it's a copyrighted piece of work. I don't fancy getting sued by the developers of lego rock raiders.
I've already done the sounds for the mining drill. They're MUCH less
annoying than the last one. The first wave of sounds will be mostly
placeholders (they're still all high quality custom sounds). There are
considerable plans for the second wave of sounds involving dynamic
variation and trying to veer as far away from looping audio as possible
without damaging functionality.

A few minor suggestions to improve your efficiency (I love massive sugarcane farms. )
You can put stone slabs over the top of the water. This lets you walk between rows without falling into the water (saves a lot of time). Another trick is to use a mining laser setup. Just make an 8 row long sugar farm (I think it's 
and blast away. Or with the new long range laser, 15 blocks. Can harvest each row in one click + collection time per row.
Is it a mistake?
From what I gather, it's intentional. However on Mining mode (and I think low focus as well), the drop chance remains 100%. The wiki is still a little unreliable as it's not completely updated yet.
Nope. Using anything that's not a 'tool' (e.g. pick, shovel, chainsaw, sword, etc) is the same as using your fist.
