i have been thinking about an new type of generator after reading about the "lightning rod" (please dont shoot me)
this Generator i have in mind is much like solar pannels - water mills - wind mills. but has NOTHING to do with lightning, only something else which occurs in life... magnetism, yes you heard it right. magnetism.
i can already hear the crits, but an generator is based on magnetism, every generator is. i say, true. but (olmost) every generator needs to have an suply of power to let it do its magic right? wel, thats where my idea starts. what about an generator which is purely based on magnetism? nothing else but pure magnetism.
wel, what is this generator suposed to do? verry simple, it wil harvest the magnetic field lines which also guide things like an compass. but then much more advanced, it wil turn these fields into an moderate amount of EU, maybe 50k of eu an day, tops at peak efficiency.
and now i hear ow, is there efficiency in these generators? yes there is, when placed the generator wil take an area of 9-9-9 (regardles of any blocks inside) and starts generating power. if there is ANOTHER of these generators in this area, the fields they use to generate power wil overlap, and use the same spot with the same magnetic power. if this should hapen, those bloks that overlap wil cut efficiency down (i am talking about the overlaped blocks) by 70% for BOTH generators. (simply to balance it, maybe less should apply.)
its logical isnt it? magnetism is all arround us in daily life, as it is in minecraft (emiting from the spawn location (compass))
so what about the recipe's required? are they expensive or mediocore? wel, i thought about these recipe's (yes multiple compononts)

i do not know if this suggestion wil make it into coding, but i sure do hope so.
why did i make this request? wel quite simple, there are wind turbines...water mils....solar pannels... these all use an natural occuring thing to generate their power,
sollar : uses sunshine (doh)
water : uses water blocks (double doh)
wind : uses the wind itself (triple doh)
these are all natural things, easily harvested. easy acces (exept for max height wind mills)
so why not use the pure magnetic power of the minecraft world?

i agree with the over all idea, only it needs serious balancing on how often the crystals can be found. and about the amount of power they generate. AND the costs for the machine.
Only 100 EU for being able to core through 32 blocks? The mining laser uses 5000 per shot, and cores through 27 stone, or 128+dirt. Maybe 6000 or 8000 is better.
you forget that the coil gun uses iron as it main shot. the small amount of power is only required to propel the metal
agreed, maybe gold can play an importend part in making alloy wires?
for example, you smelt one gold out of dust. refine the gold, just as iron. then macerate it into concentrated gold dust. making that the base ingredient for alloyed wire. with the exeption of the lower tier cable's like bronze.
Seems like that would be something similar to the agriculture in that you discover more alloys as you play with the crafting grid.

i support this, there already are cables made of copper - tin - gold - diamond. why not combine 2 lower tier metals to form an slightly better conductive material?
-might also be an idea for the higher tier cables- combine them to new alloy's-

the coil gun should be an nice upgrade to the normal mining laser, but wil it also pas throu entities? lets say, 3 skeletons in an row. is only the first one fried or also the next 2?
should also add an nice extra use for refined iron, but why refined? normal iron should do fine right?

who hasnt used the tnt sticks before? but got tired of placing them all by hand - priming them - detonating them. insanely time consuming. (for me at least)
id like to suggest an upgrade to this, the Bazooka! nononono, not just any bazooka. one with the options to shoot primed sticky tnt sticks, or just shoot tnt sticks that detonate on impact.
this would make it easy to mine out larger area's in your mine. shooting sticks to the wall which either detonate, or stick and be manualy detonated by the remote.
the idea of resource usage:
normal TNT sticks - :BOOM shots, instant boom on impact.
Sticky Sticks :primed sticky shots which can be manualy detonated.
the technical bit,
the bazooka would use gunpowder as its main propelant, to shoot the sticks. the general idea of consumption is for me 1 gunpowder lasts 3 shots, not to overkill right?
the second thing the bazooka would need is power, raw power. an internal battery which stores 5k of EU, consuming 100 eu each shot. giving you an total of 50 shots before recharging.
and the third, special feature an anti mob shot. why have an bazooka specialy for mining?
this feature would consume 3 gunpowder an shot, 3 sticks of tnt and 300 eu. and wil blow ANY mob to kingdom come, (blow them far away against an wall) yes, an extremely powerfull knockback feature.
more technical stuff,
i can already hear you, how do i load this thing? manualy or is it automated?
it is automated, select the mode it must use and it wil grab the items from your inventory to make the shot. simplicity it self.

why would you need an bazooka which can do exactly what i can do with an stick of tnt? wel, as it is industrial craft. why not make something that does what you do, but MUCH more effective? right?
