I entered here to start bitching, but then i had a change of heart, i think it really doesnt hurt too much people if someone takes and updates those godforsaken OP generators than only needs 1/512 of the space to generate the same amount of Energy :P, at least until alblaka find a decent way to implement these solar arrays without the opness of compressing 512+cables of block space into a single one.

There are some thing one would like to change in IC2 that the API wont give you access to, but thats a little of grey area i think.

Oh, So there is no problem, aside from being unable to apply full lightning to any non-air blocks.
I didnt know you could place a block *In* a pseudo air block (seeing as apperently the minecraft engine has trouble with anything else being treated as air, and that is the main difference between air and passable blocks)
If you have the Laser mod, create a Advanced Yellow laser, activate it and then place blocks in every Laser "PseudoBlock", you will see what i meant easily that way (Of course do this in a closed room with no other light source than the laser itself).
You can even dig a tunnel down and make another narrow tunnel (Dark tunnel) and start blocking the lasers from the tip to the source for better understanding i guess.

The pseudo block could "Pass" solid blocks, but first this is not the laser mod, and second if you place a block (Transparent or Not), it will remove this pseudo illumination block.

Oh well it was just an idea.
I also did not know sky checking wasnt a problem either.

Already discussed in betatester section.
Implementing compacted solar panels would make solar panels even more overpowered, by nullifying their space requirements.I tinker with the idea of altering the way solarpanels work (one main panel, to which you attach a set of smaller "panels" (flat)) to make them use less CPU while still requiring (Even more) space.
Isnt it possible to make a special kind of cable, that only works with Solar Panels but links all connected Solar panels to it and make it act like a Big Solar panel or something? (Cable would only work with solar panels of course), also the whole structure of solar panels must be exposed to light, even a single block being cut off from direct skylight would make the structure inactive. (Something to make it less stressful on having every solar panel to still check for Direct sunlight connection)
The example came to mind with the way Railcraft make their Coke Oven (and i think BTW does something similar with the anvil)
I also remember reading in the RP thread about some kind of Solar towers in real life, that uses huge amounts of mirrors to redirect the sunlight to a specific spot of these towers and would make use of the heat to evaporate water that would move some internal turbines or something similar.

Wiring solar is simple as it gets. And trust me if people can afford 512 solar panels they probably aren't going to be confused about laying tin cables enough to make this overpowered.
Add it.Its not about the confusion of placing it, Its the complexity of wiring 512 blocks+Tin cables in a ordely manner and with sufficient space if you are building a solar flower. and for the record 512 blocks area its about 2 chunks wide.
-
Its possible. Nobody knows with 100% accuracy when its going to come.
-
So far i think alblaka havent said anything about it, and Solar arrays arent OP because they generate too much energy or because the materials are not expensive enough, its because you compress 512 Blocks (From the placed solar panels) + Who many other blocks of space from the tin cables.
Thats a pretty big issue because it destroys what balanced the solar panels flowers (Having a clear view of the sky, placing them in good spots, and wiring them correctly), with solar panels arrays you just need to place one single block and not bother with it again.

Not just one thing. Tired of passed down and down and down of the mod that's used by so many people and being the most popular mod and yet not added to the game yet.
Being used by many people and being popular sub-mod, doesnt mean a first class ticket to the base mod/game. Minecraft its the prime example of this, so many good and popular mods yet none of those gets added to vainilla minecraft. Why? Because it crashes with the vision the devs have of their own game, its the same here with ic, if alblaka doesnt like it he doesnt have any obligation to add it to his game.

Its the mushroom biome generator, what did you expect? Puppys, Unicorns, Rainbows and Sunshines?
-
There is already a mushroom terraformer blueprint.

Says Al. (Which doesn't mean it's NEVER going to happen- just very, very unlikely.)
Just saying, dont ever get your hopes up for it.
-
People do love to complain about unnoficial stuff that was never meant to happen.
Anyway someone already said that Advance machines will never happen in Core IC2. (That someone was al)

But you can replace the miner with the BC pump when needed.
Besides using tin as a small tradeoff to have a uninterrupted miner its not that bad.
-
It creates a seudo-block that emits light. But as soon as you block the laser by placing blocks on top of it, it stop emitting light.
It makes sense for a laser, but such behaviour on a luminator is unsightly (in my opinion)

You are digging up dangerously close to a big gapping hole or a lava pool, you cant say a creeper explotion would not drop you to any of those, or a skeleton arrow.
Not to mention any psychological damage you get from hearing that hissssssssssing out of nowhere.
-
If you dont bring torches with you then i guess you must love having a creeper suddenly spawn behind you and noticing a second too late. Because even if nvg could make everything in the dark, that doesnt mean it will cancel mob spawning.

Vote up for NWG. And this is a one which IC2 need to implement right now. But pls, just constant light level. Dumb green overlays or shaders will broke it all easy.
It may be done now with cheat hacks on client side, but i do not know are any of mod apis allow to do this.I dont see whats the hurry in implementing this?
Also i prefer the Dumb green overlay make the thing look unique, a constant light level is such a uncreative solution for it.
