Lol I figured it was something like that. No problem.

Why not just make it so that cobble, snow, as well as the other exploitable blocks can't be broken with the block breaker? This would keep recyclers able to serve their purpose, and stop people bringing the server to it's knees with cobble gens etc. It has very little draw back as well because I doubt people break cobble/snow/etc with the block breaker for any purpose other than mass item creation to scrap. Perhaps Eloraam could even add a config option for this in a future release if someone brought it to her attention.

Why exactly was I banned? Last time I played on the server I don't recall doing anything that warranted a ban. I went to join today and check things out and it says "you are banned".

You might want to add some sort of trial in. Let people play on the server for a few days and see if they like it, if they do they can pay the $10 and continue to play. I've played on so many minecraft servers, and it seems like the ones that are asking for the most money tend to be the worst. Because of that, I just can't justify paying to play on a minecraft server I don't know anything about.

Can't wait till the mod author releases his update so you guys can stop raging and flaming each other and get back to playing. Seriously though, let's not make this into a flame thread.

Lots of updates and action lately.

Upload justin's player.dat file from the latest backup you have (ie: after all this happened) to mediafire.com, and pm me the link. I will fix him and send the file back, then replace his player.dat with the one i give you and he should at least be able to log in after without it crashing.

Justin is stuck in some sort of unknown. He went to the nether, found another portal, activated and entered that portal. Afterwards the server crashed (this was when it crashed yesterday). Since then if he joins it crashes the server. It's not a corrupted chunk because the portal he found was right next to the portal he came in to. He also brought an alt on and went through the portal with the alt, and the server crashed again with the same results. Justin, if you read this, pm the coords of the nether portal you went into the nether with to juli so he can figure out what's going on.

Another and maybe better solution, its to make energy cost to scale with time, the more time online the generator is, the more energy it will consume. When it reaches a point where you have shut it down to make the energy comsuption to normal values again...
Although in the end there is a simple work around to this (and your proposal too), and that is by having a multilayer force field, when the first layer is on the Cooldown period, you can simply activate the second layer until the cooldown of the first one finishes and viceversa.
The problem with your first solution is it requires that the developer change the existing mechanics, which in turn makes it much harder to implement this. I hadn't thought of the multi-layer forcefield though. That kind of makes it all pointless unless that also is changed.

Great server. Has a nice set of mods. Admin is usually on at least a couple hours a day and keeps things stable. Fun times.

This is a really good concept. However it is highly un-balanced on pvp servers. I have a quite simple suggestion that would change this.
Make it so that you have to take the forcefield down for 2 minecraft days for every 5 minecraft days it is running. There are a couple ways to do this that i can think of off the top of my head. The best one in my opinion, and easiest to implement without major changes to already existing mechanics, is via a heat system of some sort.
Basically make one of the central components of the force field generate, and store heat. If it gets too hot, make it go boom. Also make it dissipate heat *only* while the force field is off. You could do this with all of the projektors. So basically a projecktor would generate 10000 heat per minecraft day (just an example here), and store up to 50000 heat. Once it passes 50000 heat, the projektor would explode (I think it would be good to make the explosion rather large, similar to nuclear). Then make it so that the projektor removes 25000 heat per minecraft day *only* while it's not on.
It would also be ideal to make a setting to enable/disable this functionality, so anyone using this mod in it's current state isn't forced to use it with this new functionality if they don't want to. It would also be ideal to add config options for the heat generated per tick, maximum heat stored, and heat removed per tick, so that server admins can tweak to their preference.
I think this would make this mod usable in pvp servers. It is fairly easy to implement from a programming perspective, and requires no major changes to already existing mechanics.

Hes just saying that it will not added to the Official IC2 ever, mods can still break IC2 w/e the way they want. And why did you feel the need to bump this thread that was about to die?
Edit: oh wait... nvm, still my second point is still valid.
Because I didn't want it to die. Plus I didn't feel it deserved a new topic, but still felt it was something worth saying.

Charcoal Maceration was something disabled INTENTIONALLY due to the fact coal does "now" have a real use due to it being the only source of coal dust.
Previously coal was useless, because you could plainly grow it on mass tree farms. Will for sure not be "added" to the official release.
I agree, but I also disagree. I think yes, when ic2 is used as it was intended (or at least my interpretation of it's intended use), charcoal should not be allowed to be macerated. However, as one user pointed out, there are other cases, where ic2 is being used in an environment it wasn't originally intended for, such as pvp servers, that make charcoal maceration more sensible and less OP. I agree that un-modded ic2 should not allow for charcoal maceration, however I see no reason to hinder mods from making that possible. It just limits the potential environments your mod will fit in, or makes it harder for others to implement this in a situation where it is no longer op, or implement it in a way that's not op. There's no point in stifling creativity.

Nvm I posted that in the wrong thread. I was trying to connect to this server, but was connecting to another server in my minecraft not realizing.
