I'll say it right now that I am OPPOSED to any limits out side of the suggestion subforum. we are just trying to cut down on the derpy repeat suggestions not turn the whole forum into a gated community

Just wanted to put this up.
I came to these forums merely to publish my addon mod, for which I was attacked by multiple people with accusations of me being a code thief (such a lovely welcome). If I were forced to meet an arbitrary posting limit before I could make my own thread to publish my work, I wouldn't have bothered.

I may be a fringe case here, but I'm here to comply with Alblaka's wishes concerning derivative work publishing.

    what was your addon again?

I am personally of the opinion that a click "i accept" wall should be tried first for these reasons
    1. while it is not fool proof neither is post limits and time limits
    2. any fool proof method will render the affected subforums unusable to new members
    3. if there is no noticeable change then we escalate to a post limit of 1 to stop fly buy night first post is a suggestion thread users. escalations can then progress when it is proven that new users will do whatever it takes to bypass these limits

changing the status-quo could spark a flame war. not a fun one but a legit flame war. I would prefer it if that didn't happen so I'm siding with the technic users on this one.

    possible compromises
    1. make the rules for posting a tekkit server stricter( the tekkit server must be of decent quality)
    2. make a separate subforum for tekkit servers with high quality ones eventually getting stickied on the main server page
    3. require tekkit servers to post warnings that say ICforums will not help with bugs, balance, or technical issues
    4. redirect tekkit users to technic forums with stickies(last resort)

One suggestion - revise "nerfer" to "collectivist", as the prime motivation of your average, vocal, nerfer is probably not to make the game more difficult for their own sake, but to force their beliefs on others consent be damned. Considering that if they only wanted the game to be harder, they just wouldnt use the [insert OP machine/method here] themselves, one can postulate that their motivations are based on a lust for power and control. Worse yet, some collectivists are so dogmatic that they will actually INSULT people who don't believe their ideas are the be-all end-all of all discussion on the topic.

It's truly a crazy world when people dump so much raw emotion into mere computer games while banksters and psychoticians systematically turn those same people into debt-serfs. Me thinks that people would rather focus on the enemy they can see as opposed to the one they cant, no matter how petty the conflict or how steep the opportunity cost of not addressing the latter.

so am i correct in assuming that pvp servers attract nerfers like moths to a flame?

added an unfinished entry on beta testers

for the sake of argument I voted "Other" here is my light weight proposal for what to try before we escalate to a full n00b crackdown.

basically when a new user starts a tread in the suggestion sub-forum(and ever time after for the next 2 weeks after this first thread) they are taken to a page where they are told the rules and what is expected of them, they then click "I accept" and carry on with starting their thread.

this way we still pump the rules into their heads with minimal inconvenience and if it doesn't work we can always escalate to the "post limit and time limit" rule

1k club accepted for sake of efficient communication also changed greg's entry to "captain grammar"(would grammar nazi be considered offensive?)

as for flame-the-flamer i don't this its distinguishable enough from the n00bs to get its own entry we have like only 2 cases tops

PerfeCt then that Tin-saving suggestion is backed up here isn´t it you want us "coal and biofuel is useless"-people to shut up right!

Support Support Support. In German: Ich bin dafür, Jawohl!

first. no your not backed up here. your still spending tin to get your coal/biofuel this just puts stacking it in a generator and walking away practical.
second. huh? your sentence totally falls apart after "PerfeCt then that Tin-saving suggestion is backed up here" can you please rephrase the rest of the sentence?
third. thank you for your support but you won't make a tin pincher out of me :D

I say just go nuclear its not that dangerous

that being said I wouldn't be surprised if this thread devolved into ANOTHER technic flamewar with in the next 5 posts

P.S. i am neutral when it comes to matters of Technic or Tekkit
