Make it repairable by bronze ingots only - no problems with different durability.
You use only bronze tools: Pick, Axe, Shovel, Sword, Hoe, Wrench, Shears (seven) - add bronze? Tap and bronze ingot or block to be nine for recipe.
Bronze tools not the best, so not overpowered. Also no mode changes for this tools - no interference.
Can icon be changed in each mode to show selected tool? With the name remains "Bronze Multitool" for example.

the multi-tool as proposed would not have mode changing it would just always act at the speed and durability loss of the correct tool for the job. there are no bronze shears or bronze tree tap last i checked, everything else you said is plausible its up to the devs in the end.

well reqardless, with this you could make a tool that has the durability of 4 tools but you could use it for only mining, this would make it significantly better then diamond tools. and maybe ever a drill. and a pick require 3 bronze, but a shovel and a hoe require less and would still have the same durability. so you're still coming up cheaper.

it is slower than diamond tools(heck its slower than iron tools), can't mine obsidian, difficult to repair with out a crafting bench, doesn't have loss less wrench, recipe can be made expensive enough to limit to mid-end game, can accidentally dig out your garden, I have yet to really suggest its durability so depending on what the devs think it would probably be any where between the durability of one tool to the combined durability of all the tools. its not meant to be your main tool its meant to be your backup to give you something better than your fists but not as good as the electric version when inventory space is tight.

so we could keep ramming new tools into this device to keep it's durability up? sounds like i should go make one with an Bronze pick and then ram bronze shovel after shovel into this thing to conserve some materials....

it can only be repaired when you craft it with all of the tools the most efficient way to go about that is wait till the tool is spent but some may want to top-up their trusty backup before they go spelunking.

ok well since your using tools that require a durability, how would you use that or designate that in the Bronze multitool? that's why i suggested it as an energy item. itd just be universal energy for all the tools in the assembly.

the shared durability of the components is for sanity and laziness just wrap how it distributes the wear and tear in techno babble(or how smart steve is) and call it a day

no... read the part about the Swiss Army knife near the end of that thread. you basically integrate what tools you want into the assembly. so if you wanted a universal tool then you would take the assembly and add a bronze tool of every kind, or a drill, or a chainsaw. ect.

you proposed that mid thread its not part of the OP so it doesn't count. also this idea has some limitations to make it more balanced

all mobs can draw line of sight through glass. i've been having this as a pretty severe issue with my industrial house. if a door is left open and a creeper seeing me through the glass, he will run like 12 blocks around to get into me door and blow up my beds and MassFabs.

oh yeah the new AI. well also spiders have like 8 eyes(they even drop them) while zombies and skeletons have rotted out eye sockets. so spiders still won't be fooled

to start off, aluminium. why? make better battery's?
battery upgrades have been denied before, so i dont think adding an new metal would work.

boiled down the idea would work something like this:
    [undetermined block or item]+[coal dust]+[copper cable]=[unfinished battery]
[unfinished battery]+[electrolyzer]+[undetermined amount of power]=[undetermined number of single use batteries]

or maybe even an Elctrostatic Dummy. an Electrolizer, a magnetizer, and a pumpkin on top, contructed like a Snow Golem, is a stationary non moving construction, basically nothing special like a functioning defender, just a plain old "block on block construction. however: this would cause enemies to swarm around it thinking it is a player, or that there is a player under it. you could use these to lure enemies away from your base as long as it sees the Dummy first and not you. since the undead are supposibly drawn to the living by static electricity whether is it brainwaves or the brain sending signals to the muscles, or whatever it is that makes then detect living creatures, and skeletons can't even see so i'm sure they work similar, spiders are stupid and can't see properly, and creepers don't care if they die so they would rush in and explode on it.... on that note they should be blast resistant, not blast proof, but resistant atleast.

spiders would not be fooled they are one of the few mobs that can draw line of sight through glass

real business men don't need no stinkin question marks :D (hint step 5 is raid every ones houses while they are banned and have a garage sale when every one is back)

EDIT: also i would call the admin before i gave them the beer

its not really OP compared to other stuff people would want to pin point uranium is only used in an already every expensive power generator and weapons that are contraband on most servers if he wanted something to home in on iron then i would have called OP on this.

so why not just use that eh? it is more profitable after all

lets me zero in on one type of ore in a way that makes sense. also uranium can be any where even where the ore detector is giving me a low score cause the uranium is the only thing below me vs. a large copper vein 1 chuck to the right
