the problem with your machines causing pollution is it opens the door for a new form of greifing (pollution machine under victims micromanaged ic2 farm)

so here is an idea for a dedicated pollution biome. the main part of the idea is all stone is in a constant state of slow decay inside the biome smooth stone will eventually turn in to cobble and cobble will eventually turn in the gravel (stone bricks stop at the cracked stone bricks stage) gravel is also the biomes main soil block the only life that would could be found naturally occurring is vines, villages(the biome would be relatively flat like plains or desert)(the village also increases the zombie spawn rate), and hostile mobs. the biome would also generate structures in the form of industrial ruins made out of construction foam these ruins would have been picked clean for the most part you would be lucky to salvage a few luminators or some scraps of wire, a few blocks of reinforced stone from a blown out reactor housing, maybe a machine block or an iron furnace if alblaka smiles upon you. the biome would also have a unique danger when your in the biome with out a complete rubber suit(or quantum suit) you gain the polluted status effect(like regenerate or hunger) what this does is stone that you stand on will decay more rapidly and the effect lasts for some time after leaving the biome (or putting a suit on) causing you in a limited sense spread the pollution. also just for kicks pigs that wonder into the biome turn into zombie pigmen.
downsides: more hostiles, less food, looks plain ugly, ground could give way at any time especially if your not wearing a suit, could damage surrounding biomes if you are careless
upsides: salvage(but more effort to find than its worth), pre-built creeper proof home for you to fix up and live in, roleplaying, unlimited source of cracked stone bricks

EDIT:and how about cows and chickens drop rotten flesh in this biome as well

its ultimately up to the devs but the way i worked out how long a job would take to process is to take the number of solar panels needed to run an electro furnace smoothly(about 3) and from there work out how long it would take if there was only one panel to get the bronze furnace and 2 panels to get the silver furnace

but the idea is still sunk as it is currently proposed cause you need a macerator to make mirrors which means its more like a day 10 item than a day 1 item

Or just make a brand new Biome for it, common remember that anvil patch making biome modifications feasible? Also Mycellium (Which allows Mushrooms to grow in daylight) != Pollution.

im thinking how much extra work do we want to put the devs threw. i still think a biome where the only form of life is mutated mushrooms = pollution(it also makes mooshrooms less magical) but if there was a new biome lets see how it could be done with out adding blocks
im going to list off some posibilities nvm forgot what i was going to say
1.nothing would grow naturally and no friendly mobs would spawn thats a given.
(part where roommate starts oil fire be right back)crisis over before it started carry on

Its still stupid, the fact that you changed it just proved it was indeed stupid so the jokes on you. /damn you offtopic comments because i dont have anything productive to say after this phrase...

yeah if some one besides me wrote it I would have been annoyed at their stupidity to

so back to the topic how about converting the mushroom biome into a pollution biome? few mobs spawn there(we can say cause of the pollution) and mycelium can be pretty aggressive(again roleplay a pollution excuse) throw in some ruins like old reactors and factories and it will look perfect. would it be possible for industrial craft to spread mycellium blocks if you walk through a mushroom biome with out wearing a suit?

well ya, thats the idea - to make life harder

    WHO DISTURBS MY SLUMBER!

this doesn't fit with minecraftian physics if industial machines made pollution like in real life torches and furnaces would have killed us all with carbon monoxide poisoning long ago.

but is see this idea as salvageable some what. they could introduce a new waste land biome with old factory ruins spread around and such and such and walking in and out of that biome with out wearing a hazard suit(which has self-cleaning tech cause steve is tony stark smart) could spread the pollution a few blocks at a time. so you go "YAY free machines!" and then you look behind you when you get home and are like "didn't I have an awesome rubber tree next to my door? now there is just one of those dead shrubs i find in the desert!and how did a couple of the blocks on my smoothstone path turn to cobble?"

note im not asking to throw around shafts of light

so a mirror becomeing a light emitting block when it sees the sky or another mirror that sees the sky and that light carries the sunlight tag(or what ever the proper coding term is for that) is impossible with out editing base files? what about just making the crops and solars think they can see the sky with out the zombie frying special light?

2/3. Because fuel its particulary hard to find/make right? From wood to saplings to cactus to reed to coal to fuel cans, theres a whole array of good fuels that can be used in the regular/iron furnace.

    4. He said simple and fundamental, without Smelting you could not make 80% (Number pulled out of my ass) of the stuff in minecraft. You can live without macerating/extracting/compressing. Still thats no reason to make just another furnace we already have 4 ffs (Stone, Iron, Electric, Induction, i say thats enough of furnaces).

I guess I just wanted a guilt free(no lag pollution) worry free(solar) option. so the furnace is pretty much sunk but what about the mirrors (I re-worked the top post a bit)?

    1. Everything you connect to the enet also causes lag, still people keep using it/spamming it w/e.
    2. So does regular/iron furnaces
    3. Once again so does regular/iron furnace.
    4. Its good that you like options, but too many options can be hurtful and stupid even, you could end up with a game full of 50 machines that basically do the same. (Multiply this for every kind of machine/operation there is and you will have a lot of garbage/needless redundacy)

1.yeah i admit that was a really weak reason
    2.if you bring fuel
3.again if you bring fuel this one makes you spend more metal and go squid hunting in exchange for a no fuel option
4.alblaka said furnaces were allot simpler than functions like extractors and thats why we have an induction furnace and not a rotary macerator

It doesn't catch fire in solar panel, should not here.

again it doesn't matter its just flavor text

Oh solar panel reworks again... no.

your trading more power per solar for added bulk

Too hard to code based on my low knowledge of sunshine in MC.

when glowstone was first added it accidentally counted as sunlight so it is possible

    worse and worse. :(

ok the handheld one was stupid but the idea for the placeable one was just drop a mirror next to a shady spot and it emits sunlight if it can see the sky and its daytime and the zombies that are hiding in the shade as a result catch fire

Still not enough uses for silver for IC2. And yes, I play with RP2.

silver is already used in fiber cables and silver dust is already part of ic2's code there is just no way to get it with out inventory hacking or rp2

sorry lurker but we already have 4 different types of furnaces. also you can easily make an electric furnace and a Solar panle and directly attach your solar panle to the side of the electric furnace to power it, you don;t even need cables. it's basically the same thing your talking about but takes up 2 blocks instead of one.

I wouldn't take it personally if this idea gets shot down thats what suggestion forums are for, but thanks to KAO99 I thought of cool stuff to do with mirrors so i'm going to rework the top post a bit.also i was aware of just using solar panels and electric furnaces I just thought this idea made sense

it doesn't make sense to have it use an ink sac just because it's underutilized. Ink is INK, coal dust is essentially carbon

you ignored my other 2 points
    1. coal is unsuitable cause it will catch fire!
    2. ink sacs are already used as paint
    and here is one more
3.it doesn't really matter the point is the color black allows the item to absorb more solar energy its just flavor text

and if you want to add a mirror, what other purpose would it serve in the game?

how many uses do iron furnaces have right now? i can only think of 1.save eu when making generators and 2.cook things. that is only one more than mirrors so pick one from the following list
    1. increase the eu/t of adjacent solarpanels but runs risk of frying the panels(needs more details)
    2. increases how long during the day adjacent solar panels work
    3. a mirror with a horizontal line of sight to another mirror that is getting sun light counts as being a source of sunlight meaning crops, solar panels, and solar furnaces under it will believe they have a straight shot to the sky.
    4. anti-zombie Archimedes death-ray(not hand held)
    5. anti-zombie Archimedes death-ray(hand held)
    6. laser proof armor

that design loses the "can survive a direct hit" safety feature if the chamber gets knocked off mid cycle the reactor could go critical my design wan't for cheapness it was for overkill safety

EDIT: here i dropped 3 heat dispensers and it still can take a direct hit at any time and survive http://www.talonfiremage.pwp.b…b5lxe1z6mssj66kjbcmxzq3i8
