    ink sac? wtf?
please, this is IC2, we have coal dust for such matters

coal burns, ink is underutilized, and ic2 paint brushes use ink sacs

besides, I can't see why you can't just hook up an electric furnace to a couple solar panels

    1. it reduces lag for one cause it doesn't connect to Enet you can spam it all you want.
    2. its also good for working in remote areas far from your workshop.
    3. it is actually slower than electro-furnaces with solar panels and makes up for it with cheapness so you lose one and its not the end of the world.
    4. i LIKE options why not add things that are probable and make sense?

Names: bronze solar furnace(sunk), silver solar furnace(sunk), bronze mirror, silver mirror

Description: another off-shoot of furnace technology the solar furnace uses mirrors to focus the power of the sun to allow you to cook pork chops MinecraftPig (and anything else you normally throw in a furnace MinecraftCow:Rubber Log::Copper Dust: ) to your hearts contempt. there are two versions both versions will perform jobs without fuel if it is daytime and they have a straight shot to the sky(like a solar panel) both versions also can accept fuel like and perform with slightly better efficiency during the day and equal to an iron furnace at night. with out fuel the bronze version would take 3 times longer than an iron furnace to perform a job while the silver version will take only two times longer than an iron furnace to perform a job. the silver version would only be available through the inventory hacking of silver dust or if rp2 is installed.(EDIT: no one likes the furnace idea so consider it sunk)

the mirrors are used to craft the furnaces steve can't use them for decoration cause his face is to ugly and they will break if he looks into them
EDIT:either that or he is a vampire or a ninja. steve would be able to place mirrors which will emit sunlight if they can see the sky or if it can draw a straight non-diagonal line of sight to another mirror that sees the sky within a certain number of blocks. allowing you to create a chain of mirrors to direct sunlight to odd places for proposes of generating power, frying zombies, and growing crops.

    Recipes:
    legend:
    :Intergrated Plating: = mirror
    MinecraftSquid = inksac
    :Intergrated Plating: = glass block
    :Advanced Furnace: = iron furnace

    bronze(or silver) mirrors
    ingredients:1 bronze(or silver) dust, 1 glass plane
basically glass and dust in a crafting grid. the metal coats the backs side of the glass to make a reflective surface

    bronze(or silver) furnace(sunk)
ingredients:6 bronze(or silver) mirrors, 1 ink sack, 1 iron furnace, 1 glass block
:Intergrated Heat Dispenser::Intergrated Plating::Intergrated Heat Dispenser:
:Intergrated Heat Dispenser::Advanced Furnace::Intergrated Heat Dispenser:
    :Intergrated Heat Dispenser:MinecraftSquid:Intergrated Heat Dispenser:
the inksac is to color the furnace black to make it absorb more heat, the glass block acts as a lens

well the first post says nothing about designs that sacrifice performance for safety so here goes
    http://www.talonfiremage.pwp.b…g3pnf4puz1mwdqcgudc5bth6o
    http://www.talonfiremage.pwp.b…g3pnf4puz1mar4ej4ha2po75s

the design is meant to provide an economical eff 2 reactor with an extra emphasis on safety and as a result is designed to not melt down even if the external water cooling was removed(it turns into a mark2 in a confined space) and blocks were broken off the reactor its self (the uranium is stored on the far right when the inventory shrinks from a chamber being broken off the uranium will drop out)

    HA!hahaha.

Maybe they wanted an additional GUI to show Heat, EU-Output, average Coolantcellstatus, amount of Singleusecoolants and much more. So you can switch easyly between the Inventory-GUI and the Monitoring-GUI.

and its features like that he should be proposing if he wants a nerf to fly farther than 2 feet from the start

    and my response

Shouting OP is basically the video game equivalent of shouting 'racist' or 'queer'... It's quite demoralizing to generalize a group that uses said options in a game as inherently lazy and skill-less as such (see the example flame-war over Solar Panels)...

the config file option argument goes with nerfing post like expensive recipes with overpowered items every one hates both ideas.

now lets cut down on the personal attacks (on both sides) and see if I can relay this concept to you in a civilized manner. I want you to ask yourself
"how does this improve the functionality of industrialcraft?"
"will the players selection of choices become narrower or wider?"
"what coolness will be contributed to the game as the result of my actions?"
"is the game more or less fun with this idea"
"will my actions result in every ten year old on the server griefing me cause I made the game less fun?"
"does alblaka really want to be bothered to add a bunch of boring config options when he could be add cool new stuff for us to craft"
"after asking myself all these questions is this still a good idea?"

now as to real life someone said not to use the minecraft argument but that's bogus. this is SPARTA minecraft!(and you don't want us to say that cause you have no counter argument) and the generators resemble real life generators in name only lets look at the differences
RLgenerator: spins a coil through an electromagnetic field
MC: bakes a tin can filled with magic dust
RLwind/water: uses moving gas or liquid to creat spin for RLgenerator
MCwind/water: last I checked neither of these move and unlike hydro-dams and RLwind-turbines these fit in a 1mx1m space I'm beginning to suspect these actually run of the flow of time not matter
RLsolar: made with silicon and controlled with advanced electronics
MCsolar: made with ground up coal with no attempt to purify it and a "circuit" that is a lump of iron flanked by more magic dust
RLnuclear: uranium makes heat, heat makes steam, steam spins RLgenerator
MCnuclear: put a random lump of uranium you found in a cave in a box laced with magic dust and energy just happens
    RLgeothermal: runs off geysers
MCgethermals: runs off LAVA with no exhaust I might add

WHO DISTURBS MY SLUMBER!(rumble, rumble, rumble)YOU HAVE INCURRED THE WRATH OF THE NERF SLAYER!

making all these sources ware out inconvenient's everyone and solves nothing your basically having people slowly burn iron(valuable!) or wood so the resource is no longer renewable. if you kill off green energy people will not change they will just route around the damage (in the form of BC pumped netherpower(liquid transfer pipes= lag), and cobble gen scrap burners which have the worst lag to eu ratio of any power source) like how in the real world we have a responsibility to not spam oil all over the place and pollute the earth in industrialcraft we have a responsibility to be smart with green energy and not abuse it to create spam pollution.

your proposal for tin conflicts with my own suggestions and objectives so that is a no too. i want to see more uses for microvoltage. in fact this whole thing smells like a nerf if you want a nerf to fly you need to think of something cool to go with it

raa1337 is right if renewable were buffed there would be less need for spamming but if that is done we might as well remove the non renewable from the mod cause there would be no point(end of the day that is a bad idea). the best option is to play it smart until alblaka and the devs optimize green power and cut the lag. so have some faith in the maturity of your fellow players if used as intended most players wont need more than a dozen green gens tops and any extra needed can be covered by nuclear and finally don't force your masochistic ways on all of us if you want things harder for yourself then grab your self a normal generator, a detector cable, some redstone, a stack of tnt, and your imagination.

CLIFFNOTES: nerf green power and the lag will get worse as people use other worry free power to make up for it.

I am haveing some trouble following what you are saying but i will try my best

FenixR proposed having tools that ran off bio/coal fuelcells in order to make those you need a compressor and an extractor to make the fuelcell. basically what you would use a lower tier machine for is exactly the same as what you would use a higher tier machine for.

not all maps have convenient rubber and redstone (and if you play superflat then there is no rubber or redstone at all)

a low tier mining drill that makes dust while its high tech replacement can't makes NO SENSE! but since we thankfully just established uses for compressors and extractors a macerator would fit right in and the low tier mining drill can stick to breaking blocks now all we need is a low tier canning machine(call it the bottling machine perhaps?).

also if you look at my idea a low tier coal fired macerator could be made with just cobble, flint, and iron. perfect for throwing together in the middle of a mining run.

first because of they way minecraft physics work and that fact that steve is tony stark level smart I assume all machines incorporate an infinite water source to make steam where applicable (water mills actually run off the flow of time and tin not the water)

Preindustrial mostly means steam powered. Huge machines, not to carry on yourself. Also it means double feed by coal & water. Is it worth to code it?

I can build a nuclear rector in a cave with a box of scraps, fit enough cobble stone to build a castle in my pockets, and carry around an open bucket of molten rock IN MY PANTS! so i'm just going to pretend you never said what I just quoted

Also it seems this machines must be build without rubber and bronze. At least macerator needed to get bronze.

you can get rubber without an extractor and what is wrong with that any ways? as for bronze you find iron before tin when you dig down so iron makes more sence

But if jackhammer gives out directly dust instead of ores, maceration not needed.

FenixR did not propose a jackhammer I did. mining drills don't macerate for you why should a lower tier version? just build a tier 0 macerator its not that hard of a concept and its not as overpowered.

Stem powered compressor look good. But what are you want compressor and extractor for? Diamonds? Composite?

again you are mixing up mine and FrenixR's posts if you want to go over the minute details of my post then do it in my thread this thread is more brainstorming the concept as a whole

i shaft mine but i almost always hit a tunnel on the way down at that point it either ends in sssSSSSss or I chicken out and hit the peaceful button. so i agree the only thing more painful than early redstone mining is running out and having to run back for more.

i'm not to keen on nerfing the higher tiers just cause we have a lower tier. the higher tiers challenge will already increase with the increase in the value of iron that the lower tier brings cause now there is more stuff to make with it. perhaps the assembler could be combined with GregoriusT's old uumatter crafting idea to give it some more functionality beyond making things harder.

I see no problem letting the lower tier macerator double product because it would already be sucking down more fuel than the normal macerator's EU (that and no one would use it for more than 2 minutes if it was nerfed like that)

I think these machines will appeal to many cause they are easy to replace, in the case of my idea they use less than half the amount of iron and don't need a wrench, they would also broaden the possibilities for unique play styles, challenge maps, and roleplayers. or you could litter them all over the place at outposts and waystations.

    *cough!* http://forum.industrial-craft.…page=Thread&threadID=5180
pretty similar to something i posted before but every thing was coal or microvoltage powered

    now back to the OP
I think it should happen because then you don't need to ditch a world cause the world gen stuck you on a sand bar in the middle of the ocean with one tree (not rubber) and no other land in sight. Even with agriculture most would just trash it and reroll than try and make it work. In other words it basically expands where it is fun to play industrialcraft. (superflat anyone?)

EDIT:with beer being added ethanol should be added as a fuel source for this
EDIT: i imagine btw used to fill this role before it ditched forge
EDIT:i just realized that right now we are all Tony Starks building nuclear reactors in caves out of a boxes of scraps :D
waaaay to edit happy right now must sleep
