Refined Iron?

So, neither NEI, search engines, or anything (recent) on the forums has been useful. How do I make refined iron and/or steel? I know I can melt chainmail for steel but that isn't exactly in large supply. I'm attempting to make a centrifuge and need the lathing tool but have no way to get it without the refined iron, according to NEI.

Uh, unless the plugin is broken, you've got an old version of IC2 (or NEI, don't think so though). The Blast Furnace is used to get Refined Iron now. 1 Iron Ingot + 6 Compressed Air and some heat from a heat generator will get you 1 Refined Iron Ingot and 1 Slag.
