In theory, you can get stickreeds, no matter what plants you crossbreed, however you have a higher chance of getting stickreeds when crossbreeding two plants, that already have similar traits than what you want to get. When I last wanted to get stickreeds, I crossbread reeds and reeds, (reeds are the closest to stickreed) and after a couple of tries, you should get stickreeds.

thanks but i am using experimental on 1.7.10 what do u mean by cross breeding i use tiwce the crops on farmland and ı put reeds near on it is it true
-
crossbreeding is having 3 crop blocks next to each other, the outer ones having plants (in this case reeds) on them, the middle one being a crosscrop (you get that by clicking a crop block with more cropsticks).
But that hasn't changed since 1.7.10, so it's the same as for other mc versions.
-
i m doing that today all day i do but only ı get is reed seeds
i did with pumpkin melon nether wart also it always give same seeds
-
stickreed looks similar to reeds, It only looks different once it's fully grown, so you might just not have realized that it's stickreed.
-
but i use crop matron they grow quickly
-
iirc, when you harvest stickreed with a cropmatron, you don't always get sticky resin, but also reeds sometimes.
Anyways, I'd suggest crossbreeding them not at a place where they'll get harvested immediately, but somewhere else and then pick the plant manually, once it's grown out and analyze it using a crop analyzer.

Crossbreeding has something like 90-95% chance of producing the same crop, so if you only use two parents and a single crossbreeding plot between them, it will take frustratingly long to get a new crop. What I prefer to do is set up a 9x9 field with a checkerboard pattern of parent crops and crossbreeding plots. Even then, it sometimes takes 2 or more passes to get the target crop I want. If I don't have enough of the parent crop initially, I start with a diagonal line, then an X, and work my way up to the checkerboard pattern.
Aroma1997 I think you might be confusing the Crop-Matron machine with the separate Crop Harvester machine. Also, as of IC2 build 755 for MC 1.7.10, the Cropnalyzer can identify planted crops as soon as they start growing (your change according to the changelog), which I presume has carried over into IC2 for newer versions of MC.

Yes, I confused the crop harvester with the cropmatron, that's true.
And right, I did that change. I already forgot...

1.7.10 has a speiger plugin that allows you to precalculate what crops you can get and the point chance.
-
i use 1.7.10 experimental im doing what u said but i only i can get is reeds and pumpkins
-
You're probably just a bit unlucky then. You just need to try more often.
-
haha unlucky ? its not abaut luck this is the 8 th week ive been trying i always do that shit every single time i got reeds
-
Can you post a screenshot of your setup?
-
Just do a Checkerboard of reed and then breed in the middle.
Do like a 25x25 area or 50x50 area then you have enough probing spots to get a really quickly.
In IC2Exp its faster to get then in Classic since classic has more weak lvl crops then Exp. -
tell me if there is problem
-
Your setup is fine.
Do you let the crossbread crops fully grow, before removing them for "not being stickreed"?
That's the only thing I could think of why you could have not gotten stickreed. I repeat myself here, but make sure, you don't accidentally confuse these two. They look exactly the same in their first growth stages.
-
i plant them and i went 1km away with rail and dididint go home for 1 hour is that enough ?
-
all of them are fully grown and they give only reeds if i leftclick to crrops
