Suggestion: Explosions causes blocks to be destroyed rather then breaking them Via a Config.

  • This would not be a to tough one. Please you SSP users this is only a config setting and only something you would have to manually change. The point of this is to prevent damaging large SMP servers to much. The number one damage caused or so I have noticed so far besides really large energy loop grids haha. Is large explosions causing to many items to drop and causing 0-1 FPS for 5 minutes. I will not even dare try to explain the server impact and even more if 10 people are in the area and the servers doing updates to the client hehe.

I feel this would be great for SMP and even SSP for players who want to play a bit more hardcore but also if they have performance issues.

  • Agree

Nuke\reactor shoud evaporate blocks and any items in range without dropping anything.

ITNT shoud drop all blocks as items (100% drop rate) but destroy any already dropped items.

Laser shoud drop 100% of blocks but again destroy any items, this will eliminate item spam problems.

  • Even as an SSP player, I agree with this... sometimes I just don't want all that crap cobble/dirt and I want empty space instead. (Course, I usually have a bad habit of putting my nukes too close to my home than I should... Hilarious checkerboard walls are hilarious from IC1, lol)

Would anyone like to try a Slowpoke Tail?! Only 1 Million Yen!

this isn't about arrogance or ego, I have a block that I put a lot of freaking work into

Every Mod Author, in existence. And yet, you STILL say otherwise.

    • Official Post

Nuke already evaporates most of dropped blocks. I think the drop chance was about 0.1% (because a giant crater without ANY cobble inside does look stupid).

If your server cant handle smaller explosives, you should tell your players not to use them until you upgraded.

  • Also it'll automatically create stacks of identical blocks in close columns. It requires some abusive behavior to cause performance issues with that.

Makes me think of that bukkit addon that automatically made blocks automatically merge into stacks if they were within ~3 blocks of each other, which I seriously want for singleplayer.

  • I had nerfed our reactor down to 25 and did largest melt down I could do with just 1. IDK maybe I was half drunk but I had well over 3k entities on the ground hehe. I would say the hole looked like it was not more them 4-5k.

  • I did a quick experiment:

    Hypothesis:
    1 nuke won't KO minecraft.
    27 nukes will.
    Results:
1 nuke going off: Comp survived
A 3 by 3 27 nuke cube: Minecraft crashed and I broke the level.

    1. OMG CREEPER RUN AWAY!
    2. Go away, you creeper wierdo!
    3. What ever, I'll just go around.
    4. Hup, over their heads I go!
    5. Okay Mister living grenade, I'm going to knock you into those skeletons, and I'll follow through with a nano saber. Understood? FOR THE ALMIGHTLY DRAGON LORD!
