[Suggestion] IC2 Watermill compatability for Buildcraft Waterproof Pipes

  • As y'all may know, the Geothermal Generators can be ran using either Lava Cells, Lava Buckets, or by connecting a Buildcraft Waterproof Pipe to it and feed lava to it. When it comes to the Water Mill, it can generate EU by either being surrounded by water to create water towers, or be fed water buckets.

My suggestion is for the Water Mills to have Buildcraft compatability, just like the Geothermal Generators, so that you can supply a Water Mill with water by using the Buildcraft Water Pipes. It would require no additional recipies, but just the ability to connect a BC Waterproof pipe and be fed water from a source. As well as generating the same amount of EU if fed water buckets or sunken in water and surrounded by a 3x3x3 cube of water.

This all boils down to one thing: if the Geothermal Generator can generate EU by feeding it with lava from the BC Waterpipes, you should be able to do the same thing to the Water Mills.

  • WELCOME TO THE FORUMS! :D
apparently we are in he middle of a no party so NO! :D
and this is what happens when you don't search for previous suggestions before posting.
simply put given water's infinite nature using pipes would be to overpowered what I do to overcome this plothole is just imagine that the watermill actually runs off the flow of time :D
if it makes you feel better alblaka recently enabled water cells for watermills

true balance is impossible in video games the best one can hope for is to make it really hard to guess which of 2 choices are better.

It is good, but it makes us use our precious tin (i usually transform it into iron [RP {Blutricity} alloy furnace with bucket] )

Thats cheating/bugusing therefor i disabled Tinbuckets and Bronzerails in the Config of my Server

And OMNG it's Tin. Theres way too much of it, even only with IC² (disabled RP-Tin/Copper in config).
It's my very first energysource in the Game (Redstonedust is bugged in 1.81) i use it even before the Generator (Generator only for Superfuel).

Oh and dont forget to put a Waterbucket in, right before adding the Cells there is a (reported and fixed in next version) Bug that doesnt creates Energy even if it looks and sounds like. Only a "return true;" was missing for it.

    Am i a Hipster because i said
    NO!
    before it was cool

  • The Reasons they are saying NO
lol, ok well since everyone for the most part is simply shouting no i'll inform you as to why. this may also help you understand the suggestion forumns as well in a whole.

the reason why Alblaka and the community has denied the idea is because it would create a pretty heavy imbalance in the game. first off they are the cheapest to make and you recieve 2 instead of 1, this makes them a pretty good starting power generator. secondly, you can use buckets and cells to power them, obviously you know this, and it generates a good amount of power, much more powerful then a solar panel and most safe designs of wind turbine generation. now as great as the idea seems, think about making the water turbine infinately powered for free with 0 maintenance. the balance on the water turbine is that you have to constantly watch it and feed water in it using a bucket, or you use Tin as fuel basically, burning though a significant amount of your Tin Ingots. if you could power them forever with a regenerating power source then they would be the best form of power besides a nuclear generator. at that point more people would be using them then even more then we have "Solar Spammers" now do to the 0 maintence+relatively high output. the reason it is allowed with Geothermals is because lava is not a renewable resource and will require you to actively search out new lava sources. these would slowly become further and further away till they are at the point that you'd have to start using chunk loaders or relay stations or it wouldn't even be possible. even using geothermals in the nether requires you to relocate the pump every couple of days and as wild as this sounds, you'll have to search pretty far in the nether for lava. currently i've drain about 50% of the lava in roughly a 10,000 square block radius and even that is starting to become a depleted resource. water would never have that problem.
