• Hello everyone,

I'm trying to run this version of IC2:
    http://ic2api.player.to:8080/job/IC2_lf/

It looks like a stable port to 1.6.2, but the latest commit was 1 month ago. It works pretty well, so far I've been unable to find any error in the IC2 features.

The only problem is issue with textures - all armors & packs display as black/pink texture on the character, although all of them have proper textures in the assets. Also the texture for the iron furnace is not working.

Are there any plans to finish this port to 1.6.2, or the dev team is focusing only on the experimental and this port has been abandoned? (In this case I would try to fix it on my own).

Thank you very much for your effort, I've spent countless hours on this mod with my wife.

  • Those bugs are fixed in the experimental version, so you should consider getting the experimental version. It has some new (albeit rather unfinished) features.

Beware not to get the latest builds though, the E-net (code that does all the energy transfer) is being overhauled.

  • Thank you very much sir, which build would you recommend?

You will have to go very far back to the first E-net change (excluding debugging stuff) which is in build #30. So you will need to get build #29.

However, the new changes aren't really that problematic (except that the packet system has been reworked) and have been optimizations, so I would recommend the latest build, which would be either #86.

  • Maybe we should ask Greg or Thunderdark to maintain a thread in the Support forum about the new "experimental" versions?

  • The Packet system was "Fixed" it works nicer now, so i suggest the latest.

Just consider that ALL power providers are summed together to figure out the actual power in the cable/machine. No more 4+ 32 EU packets in copper cable!

  • Update:

So... after trying to fix issues with textures in IC2-lf I switched to the experimental build (I've deleted most of the regions to regenerate the ore). So I'm fine with that, I had a quite new world. Thanks for this advice.

Problem is that my friends have large worlds and they kind of don't want to switch to the experimental version because of new lead ore and large industry chains. I've tried to fix that on my own, but I'd probably need some advice.

First of all: I know exactly which lines cause the issue and how to fix that. But I'm unable to compile the ic2-lf source with proper mcp/forge version.

    Steps I tried:
    1) decompiling the jar using jd 0.3.5
    2) moving source to my mcp project
    3) I got lot of errors with unknown method names (probably because of obfuscation) - again, I've used the same version of mcp/fml which are mentioned in the -lf build

Another scenario I've tried is editing the class file, but I got error when I'm trying to run minecraft with fml - it is unable to locate the edited class.

It is possible to get the abandoned -lf source wo obfuscation? It looks like it is abandoned considering the last build date, so I would like to fix it on my own. Or maybe I'm just doing sth wrong with the -source from the lf build. Anyone any ideas how to solve this problem?

  • The "industry chain" in experimental is only long if you want to get more metals out of ores than you can in the non-experimental version.

Though I believe reactors are also not quite reliable at the moment.
