I think adding blocks is fine, i havent found any issues in my dev world. Ids are still internally handled, the game goes "Hey, this block needs to have a blockid of 378 since it has the name foobar" for example, when a block is removed, all of the blocks go "hey, that block is missing, we need to replace it" and it shifts ALL of the ids down, meaning that all the blocks in the world get changed.
IDs are STILL there, but they are per World now and not per install, meaning the Server syncs the IDs to the Client when joining.
So what happens if you remove mods? Does it break the world?

I saw some comments on reddit that said if you remove a mod from 1.7, it shifts all the block ids down. In case you didn't know, I thought you should. What would this mean for the server? Would we have to have a 'test day' or something, to see which mods work before we start the server properly?

There are some options into that, if inventory moving can be disabled (or nothing bad happens when you move items that do not exist on the target server). Not only to allow for a magic world but also for load balancing reasons. For a load balanced world inventory keeping would be allowed. Portals will of course be an admin only tool.
Making the moon a FFA would be pretty cool. Guess people need fortified bases there or something.
What would qCraft be used for? I'm not a huge fan of the mod.
Display MoreCorrect. Setting of TNT in other people basis would fall under rule #1. We either agree to have thaumcraft or we don't, I would just not use it until the fusion reactor is purring. The "best" solution to bridge the gap would be for me to do a lot of work and investigating:
1) Install mystcraft, but do not allow players to use it.
2) Set up portal to another overworld-alike dimension, modified so you will loose all your stuff once going through it.
3) Set up another portal to go back to the overworld.
4) Investigate to allow only certain mods in certain worlds
5) Allow thaumcraft and only thaumcraft (+other prettifying mods) in new dimension
6) Allow everything but thaumcraft in the overworld
7) Conclude that it will not work because people can circumvent protections via the nether. Thus an investigation is needed to ban all dimensional crossings into and out of the thaumcraft dimension.
Conclude that it would be easier to just run 2 instances of minecraft + forgeirc to accomplish the above.
2 Servers would be kinda too much. I'm all in favour of kicking it if we have to (but at least get hardcore ender expansion or something, we NEED a 'hobby' mod).
PFAA isn't released yet? Perfect, it makes me feel much better about having only played Morrowind the past three weeks instead of coding.
I got all Attributes except Luck to 100 and have Potions which are already way too strong. Adding over 9000 to the Speed Attribute in one Potion for more than 2 Hours makes you faster than Sonic, both the Hedgehog and the Speed of Sound, guess into how many Walls you will run with that.

It is waiting for the reset and real life that is accounting for player absence. For me it is moving to a new house so all my not money making time is going toward that. I am hoping that Gregtech will tomorrow or in the next week so I can set up the new server in my vacation

About that: Railcraft has WorldGeneration in the form of Geodes and Quarried stone. May wish to update the sheet to reflect that.
I was always under the impression that we didn't want a modpack, because we wanted to keep this a pretty small server.
Also, I made that spreadsheet. Notice how it says 'necessary worldgen' and not 'worldgen'. There are lots of mods there that add unnecessary worldgen, which we can just ignore for starting the server.
In case you really wanna get started on this server, Unidye is fully ported to 1.7.2, just no new content yet. And since I don't have worldgen, I could just bring new content over time.

I was actually reviewing that hardcore ender expansion, that looked like it could fit in to give that extra adventure boost with the additional benefit of having more end to go around.
