This, in different variations, is suggested on regular basis without avail. Last time by me - [Suggestion] Replace all single slots with 3x3

Interesting how relatively harmless mod bonuses grow out of control when stacked. Forestry makes growing trees easier, Thermal Expansion gives 50% bonus to plank production, IC's make 2.5 more burnable stuff out of planks, and Railcraft boiler multiply energy output from one burnable item by I don't even know how much.

Or rather, reactors never explode if you know what you are doing.
Doing thing you don't know is only way to know things that no one done before -
Essentially, packets are split to smaller packets proportionally to inverse of path resistance.

Only problem with perpetual motion is that it is not "realistic". Green gens make energy essentially from nothing, but we are given a "realistic" justification that they get it from wind, sun, etc.
And, crafting coal from uu-matter is not pinnacle of science or effectiveness. It is much simpler thing than, say, Frame vehicles, 1.2.5 CASUC Breeder, Fillerforest, or even any sufficiently complex logistic network. And much less effective than windmill spam.

Reactors don't make craters. They just remove inner layer of Reinforced Stone blast wall.

Point of the game is different for different people. For me, right now it is making broken contraptions that produce obscene amount of UU:)
And, I think coal price should be just replaced with 3 uu = 10 coal.

Actually, not at all. That's the point of using Railcraft - instead of tons of items and, at best, stacks of items flowing around, I just have 5 carts. So, very few lags, even on my ancient machine.

Final design: http://forum.industrial-craft.…page=Thread&threadID=8184
One treefarm = 1400 eu/t = 1/7 UU/sec -
Proof-of-concept setup, making lots of energy from a tree farm, and uu-matter from that energy.
Russian voice-over, English subtitles:)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgB-4sVAcoo
Video is made in SSP, but I used similar setup (but smaller and without rails) on live SMP server, and it definitely works.

after a few days of trying...i am unable to create a perpetual boiler->turbine->whatever setup. have not tried a steam engine/transformer.
Did you use coke ovens to convert coal to coke? And, were you using max size boiler at top temperature? -
Why not just 1:1? 3:4 is pointless overcomplication.
-
Make sure it has enough light, space (i.e. empty blocks around it and preferably straight line to sky (glass is ok)) and is fertilized.
-
You may have a point. 2.5 ratio is based on Stirling engine power output, but it could just mean that Stirling engine just sucks with anything except lava:)
But, I was testing with rotors, instead of engines/transformers, and it is still op, regardless of transformers ratio (if you don't consider rotor costs, that is).

I run some tests, one coke lasts 30 seconds, giving ~200 eu/t. 200*30*20 = 120k eu
Charcoal lasts 7.5 seconds, and coal - 15 seconds. It was not on max heat, but close.
Without scrap, coal is 150k in mass fab. But with scrap, coal is 25k, giving 60k eu even without being turned into coke. So, yes, perpetuum mobile. I dont like those
As for turbines, for same amount of iron one can make wind mills that give about as much eu/t. Read calculations on BC/RC forum.
So, right now boilers (together with coal recipe) are OP, and turbines are mostly useless for eu/t production.

I thing they should just add tin and copper to Forge. Each of major "industrial" mods (if we count BC with Forestry) use them anyway.

Wait a minute, something is not right here
Technicpack wiki is quite often more informative than "official" wikis. Like in this case, official wiki DOES contains info for Arcane Furnace, but not picture of the interface.
And I don't think it is relevant to topic of discussion, sorry. -
Stirling engines are renewable energy, because they can run on wood.
I don't think transformers are OP, but Forestry probably does. But not too much, because You still have to work to get high energy output.
Turbine housings are indeed too expensive, for mere 100 eu/t output.
You don't have to use pipes for steam and water, because you can just place turbines (or pump, or engine) adjactent to boiler. -
Is there some doc in plain text, or only outdated(?) youtubes?
Also, does it prevent from getting in by nether gate? -
That is, electric furnace slot, generator fuel slot, all generators battery slots, input and output slots in macerator, compressor, extractor, etc etc. I know, there are automation mods and stuff, but not everyone has or like to use them. Not to mention that interaction with them are often bugged, like with last update. And there is nothing industrial in machines that should be fed stack by stack (or in some cases, item by item), like some lowly vanilla furnace.
Thaumcraft2 has it, and it works great - http://technicpack.wikia.com/wiki/Arcane_Furnace. Not to mention some Forestry machines.
