The only thing that I can think of is it being MultiMC, but I've never used it so I don't know how it works

I was using 125 without problems. Using 121 right now because of OptiFine.

I had NEI working fine with 125. I'm using 121 at the moment because OptiFine explodes the world when using it with 125 :p

My NEI works just great with Forge 105, you should may downgrade NEI.
He said that it does work with 105

Does the latest version work properly with 1.95b? I know a few people were having problems with Forge builds above 100.

Actually, instead of using Too Many Items, I'd definitely recommend using Not Enough Items. Much better.

Seriously though, NEI shows recipes in a lot better way then craftbook. You just hover your mouse over any item and press R to see the recipe.

Try cable-redstone-lever in a straight line. It'll work, but most other setups don't seem to.

Normally I just disable depth fog with optifine, but if this were implemented I'd definitely leave it on.

If they do not know what this is and they google it, be sure they will say no since portforwarding does have risks of people hacking your home computer easier.
