So, what's the solution, then? If a proper place for everything is the wrong approach because no one bothers to look there, then the alternative is placing everything all in one pile.
But that won't work because it will be even harder for unobservant people to locate the relevant data.
Even a degree of redundancy - placing the info on the forum, the blog and the wiki, has failed.

My conclusion is that there's nothing we can do that will make the information apparent to those who can't bother to look for it - so any effort made in that regard is wasted.

In terms of protection, it's comparable to iron armor. It's apparently a bit more durable, though.

As far as enchanting it, I've no idea - I haven't even bothered with that whole thing.

That's the most likely explanation - but not 100% certain. More information can help to reproduce the bug or rule out IC2.

A bug is something that can be reproduced - it should, theoretically, affect all users uniformly. The first thing I did before responding was to examine the texture sheet in the mod, then I logged into the game and successfully created a copper block with the proper appearance.

So that leads me to believe that this alleged "bug" is in fact, caused either by an improper installation of something (most likely Optifine or MCPatcher) and/or related to a custom texture pack. It doesn't happen with default textures and it doesn't even happen when I'm using a custom 64x pack.

So let's not bark up the wrong tree and call this a bug in IC2, is all I'm saying.

I can see that, truly - but the stuff spawns more frequently than intended, so chances are you'll find a lot more of it around.

So, did you test it first with legitimately crafted items before adding your report? Because if it's just TMI items, that's not a bug in IC2. I don't know whether or not that's the case for the others, as they didn't mention it.

TMI isn't merely a casual eyewitness to many of these issues - it's the perpetrator. It's merely mistaken for an innocent bystander by people who are unaccustomed to being thorough (i.e., the mod's target audience).

Looking at the block_0 texture sheet, the copper block looks fine. Furthermore, I'm unable to reproduce your reported issue - I can craft a copper block and it has the proper appearance.

This leads me to believe that you have either improperly patched your build and/or that you are using an HD texture pack that is not properly configured.

At any rate, it's not a bug in IC2 at all, so we'd need to find out what it is on your end that's causing this. Care to provide some comprehensive information? Start out with screenshots and your modloader.txt, please.

And PLEASE put these issues in the proper place - reporting something like this as a "bug"' when it's not, draws effort and attention away from addressing the real, reproducible bugs that might be present.

Yeah, not a major issue for me - I already have more Nikolite than I know what to do with, anyhow.
Eloraam's already said that it spawns more often than she'd have liked, so this is kind of an unexpected temporary solution.

You're probably thinking of Zippinus, author of Advanced Machines.

Whenever someone gets around to putting one together. All I've done is assemble the textures we already had from previous versions.
Check out the Sphax texture packs if you want one that's all ready to go.

OK, that makes sense when you put it that way. Glad you got it working.

It's not a block ID conflict, that's the thing. Changing block IDs isn't likely going to solve this.

Backup your save. Remove the addon and log in. You will ose any of the machines and items from the mod, but it's a small price to pay. Now save and exit, drop this addon back in your mods folder and log in.

See if that solves it - I seem to recall doing just that when 1.337 came out. If it doesn't work, you can always restore the old save.

I'm so glad to see this add-on updated! And PowerCrystals' add-on is updated as well, and Bucket Filler apparently works with BC 2.2.8... I am a happy little builder.

I'm absolutely certain that Direwolf20 is smart enough to know how to install all of the individual mods he wants separately and get them to work together properly.
The Technic Pack is designed for people who don't know how to do that (by people who have absolutely no respect for the authors of the mods they appropriate).
That's why some add-on developers deliberately disable compatibility with Technic.

Silver ore is from Redpower - if you don't have that, it's no wonder you haven't found any.

You know, they could just check the "Public Releases" section - that's what it's there for. It's visible from the main page, you just have to make the tiniest bit of extra effort to look for it.
I'm sure the banner will be updated, though - I agree that it's out of date.

I'm pretty sure this add-on is designed not to work with Technic Pack.
