Short answer: It's a nightmare. Avoid putting more steam than its optimal flow.
I'm using pipes with shutters, for example, to achieve 12000L/s, you can use a Huge bronze pipe (9600L/s) + Normal bronze pipe (2400L/s) = 12000L/s (two input hatches) should work.
You should see this video too (thanks, Willis), it's very helpful.
I'm not sure if it's feeding the turbine correctly, though, because PYURE refuses to test it using Greg's pipes 
.

Bummer, I made a Disassembling machine (IV), and the sucker stops even glued to transformer and battery buffer.
How much energy it eats? (the bright side is that I can't even disassemble it, for obvious reasons...)

To measure the Battery buffer charge, you can use the energy detector cover. Just ajust with a screwdriver until you find the option that includes the internal bateries, I don't remember which is right now.
@AxleBlack Bronze powder can be mixed on the crafting table, 3 x copper, 1 gold and 1 silver. You don't need to smelt to make black steel...

For the boiler I was unsatisfied with BC gate's 25% granularity so I actually went with opencomputers. It lets me monitor consumption rate and do clever things like calculate the percentage full to turn on the boilers (assuming the flow rate doesn't change). Every loop check the consumption rate. If I know I can make 48 B/s and it takes me a minute to get there (with a linear increase from 0) I can pick a point where I should turn on so that I will be at 100% when the tank is completely empty. Dat efficiency.
Seems cool, I need to try OpenComputers. But I have so little time to play, that I feel that I'll spend it all programing instead playing. And I'll still have to learn its language;
I was using BC before only for the pumps. Now that we have one, I removed from my mods. Just sad that all that oil was gone with it, forgot that was a BC thing...
Speaking about mods, I'm really curious about the "Realistic Fluids Overhaul".
I always wanted to put a pipe with a drain at the bottom of a river to fill my boilers and factory, never used finite water because I couldn't do this. Anyone tried to see if works and the water is compatible?
Now I'm curious: what other mods carry social stigmas in this forum?
Which ones don't? I only use Gregtech, Railcraft (tank) and Thaumcraft (I feel that even IC2 is casual).
I don't know much others technical mods, therefore I fear and want to destroy them.

I think I'm pretty happy with my pistons, really.
It's basically this, probably most of you know how to do it:

It works like this: Tank empty, redstone signal activates a piston that push a redstone block under the boiler control, activating it. When it starts to fill, the piston will retract, but the block stays where it is. Until the Boiler hatch gets full, and sends a signal to another piston, that push the Redstone block back to it's original position, deactivating the boiler. The brick is there only to avoid direct contact with the piston, keeping it active. It's simple, and don't blows my head off 
It stays under the boiler too, so It's hidden all the time, not so ugly.
But I'll read this link, maybe is easier than appears...

I see that you are using a LHE, so Boiler input is also a concern. ATM, I'm using regular boiler and charcoal isn't a problem, so I dont need to check for it. Maybe later I'll do a more complex system, probably using a hidden room underground and attach inputs and outputs to wireless RS transmiters. Like a program fuction 
This inspired me to make two EV x16 bat buffers filled with lap xtals. I have two x4 EV buffers on either end with energy detectors hooked up to them. The energy detectors go to RS TX that feed a simple RS SR latch (the really compact one that only needs two RS torches). It turns on when the first buffer is near empty and off when the last buffer is near full.
Also funny enough I do wear black jeans often, a wool sweatshirt that looks like that one, and a beard.
Could you post some Screenshots of this scheme? I don't know that one with RS torches.
I have one to activate the boilers when my main tank (steel railcraft one) is empty (fluid detector on a pipe before a tank buffer for the turbine, so it don't stops), and deactivates when the output hatch of a boiler is full (meaning that my railcraft tank is full as well). It is a little improvised, with pistons and redstone, but works pretty well and is very cheap.
For the battery buffer, I'm using energy detectors, RS transmitters and receivers, because it stays far from the turbine.
It opens the steam pipe that feeds the turbine when power is low, and closes when its full.
But the setup that I use to keep the boilers and the turbine active is a little big, two pistons, two brick blocks and a redstone block. I wanted an idea for something smaller, I don't use to play with vanilla redstone, so that was the better I could do.
Also, a detector mode to outputs redstone signal only when a tank or buffer is TOTALLY full or empty would make my setup much more smaller.
BTW, I feel that Lapotrons crystals are really cheap, in comparison with HV batteries. I was struggling with lead to make battery alloys, even after finding a galena vein, but I have plenty of redstone and lapis to make the lapotrons.
Thats not bad though, as they are used to make those expansive circuits further on...

Large Titanium Boiler is 1600 mb/T, which is equal to 32000L/Sec.
That 125% flow thing really hurts your efficiency, so keep an eye on it. Consumption does happen per tick on the turbine (although its per second on the LHE).
Adding operational info to the GUI is something I definitely want to do. I haven't looked into feasibility yet.

Thinking again, the pipes should fill the hatches by ticks too, I assume, despite the info on the tooltip being in l/sec. So, It's safe to use pipes capacity to regulate flow, right?
My previous setup, with large and normal steel pipes on two hatches should work fine then...

Mine is a mess. Almost like my rl room. Being on SSP, I dont expect visits, so I'm not caring for aesthetics.
My machines are attached to all 4 sides of a wire to avoid distance losses (yes, I'm that paranoid).
But I'm reaching HV and above now, so I'm starting to relax a bit, (less significant losses), and I'm planning an overhaul soon. Being next to a desert, I'm using a lot of Smooth sandstone too, they look really nice, and they're easy to get.
Will not be nice as yours, but will not be a giant block of cobblestone anymore, either
I do have a batbuffer with 8 Lapotron Crystals, before a Transformer near the EBF, and my turbine actives when the buffer is low, and deactivates when its full.
Usually this is enough, but I finally found a tungstate vein today, and I'm cooking non-stop, so it's being too much for the poor girl.

I have a Blast furnace furnace cooking Tungsten, and the turbine can't keep up to it.
It is a 120 recipe, but I'm using a HV energy hatch, it should be working at 480 eu/t. The turbine should be generating at little more than 600 Eu/t, even so, the buffer is slowly getting dry (Above 512 eu/t I should use a EV Dynamo hatch, right?).
The machines are at 100% efficiency, and I have just a ore washer and Thermal centrifuge running on the same line, both LV, dont impact too much.
But, I may be overthinking, maybe the losses are taking that difference. But that's another reason that I wanted more information on the GUI. At least I would knew the problem was somewhere else...
Anyway, thanks for the tips, soon I'll have my first Tungstensteel boiler, so I can put another turbine running. That will solve the problem for sure =).

On another topic, Blood, I was looking on the higher levels magic generators, and I realized that your recipe puts the previous machines on the sides pedestal, and a Machine hull on the center.
I wish you changed that, because the ingredients on those pedestals have a chance to be "vaporized" in flux, while the center item will always be intact. I would not mind losing a circuit or a hull, but a whole machine hurts. Is that intentional?
(I know with a stable altar, the chances are really slim, but I'm more on Gregtech than Thaumcraft, so I don't put more effort on it than necessary, and I'm a little afraid of creating those generators...)

The Huge Titanium Pipe is just the first block, I am using different sized pipes to adjust flow, but I feel that it is not working right.
I was using a Large and Normal Steel Pipes and two hatches before (19200+4800 = 24000l/sec).
I am aware of the 125% flow, I could feed 30000l/sec on that case, but choose to use a 28800 to avoid another input hatch (because I feel that that was causing the problem, not sure on how that is being calculated);
Does the turbine consumes by seconds or ticks? I assume that it does by ticks, so I'll HAVE to use regulators to it work properly (and that information should be on tooltip, or wiki at least).
I would love to have operational information on the GUI, like Input and output of the generators, so we could at least know if there's something wrong.
Another question about pipes and the turbine:
I am feeding a Turbine with a Huge Stainless Pipe (28800l/sec), and I'm using a Thaumium turbine (24000l/sec). I used the scanner on the pipes a few times, and sometimes I get readings of "tank:28,800/14,400l steam."
How it gets half empty (or half full, if you are an optimist)? Shouldn't it stays full all the time?
I am pulling the steam from a Railcraft tank, using a Huge Titanium Pipe (38400l/sec) attached on a EV pump (40960l/sec). Everything is above the needed until it gets into the turbine (and I'm using shutters - output only - on every section).
Is this only a weird reading?
Oh, so I have to disassemble it? Time to invest on a Disassembling Machine...
