maybe if you use a "pressurized" pipe line, that might not be a problem (pump covers on every pipe + shutter covers aswell to prevent backflow)
Well, I though about that, but I would be a lot more expansive. Seems that I'll have to put the turbine as close I from my tank...Edit: I'm watching her videos now, thanks Willis!

Guys, do you think that's safe to use Fluid pipes to regulate steam to a Large Steam Turbine?
Because I remember that, using tiny bronze pipes on a ore washer, It couldn't keep it full (400l/s), until I changed half of them for normal pipes (they were used exclusively on this machine). So I guess that fluids don't always flows correctly inside the pipes, maybe they bounce back, I don't know.
Wouldn't this be a problem if I use them to regulate the steam/t on a Large Turbine?

Two little things, I know that are Greg's recipes, but I wanted to point (maybe was said before, but I've never seen mentioned):
Ingot on the extruder with the rod shape, shouldn't make a long rod, instead two normal ones? ( I know that's convenient that way, even so...)
And why can't we use Hot Tungsten Ingot to make Tungstensteel? It's weird that I have to put it on a freezer, and then on furnace again, seems a waste of energy;Nothing game changing, those are just things I keep thinking while i'm playing...

I don't remember the pump itself, but the miner had, when was deactivated, it pulled the pipes back, would be nice to have this feature.
it's not great deal though, we can just "mine" the pipes. Only problem is the exploit with the last pipe block.
If you try to mine the last block first, with the pump active, it keeps generating another one for free, giving infinite pipes. -
So, a question and a Bug report:
About the Advanced Pump, how do I recover mining pipe? I tried deactivating the pump and using a lever, but not worked. It shouldn't pull the pipes back?
I tried breaking the mining pipe block too, but it keep regenerating and droping infinite mining pipes. A very old bug, If I remember well... -

If you guys don't mind, I still have some doubts about the Fusion math. Mauve, or anyone else, can help me here?
I'm going to calculate costs to produce Deuterium and Tritium, 1000l each:
Electrolyzed 30.000 water, 10 process (45000 EU each) = 20.000 Hydrogen, 450.000 EU loss
Centrifuged 20.000 Hydrogen, 5.000 process (320 EU each) = 5.000 Deuterium, 1.600.000 EU loss
Centrifuged 4.000 deuterium, 1.000 process (1280 EU each) = 1.000 Tritium, 1.280.000 EU lossSo, 1.000L of Deuterium and Tritium, costs 3.330.000 EU.
That runs about 8 process on the Fusion, 16 ticks each plus 4096 eu/t loss, 524.288 EU. So, each helium plasma cell costs 3,854,288 EU (not counting cable losses), and generate 4.096.000 Eu at 100% Efficiency. Profit of 241.712 EU.
Now, question time (assuming the above is correct):
1) Using the first plasma generator, mark I, with 50% efficiency, I can't make it yield more power than costs to produce; Am I missing something?
2) How the startup energy is used? If I have only the 40.000.000 required, and run 30 cells of helium plasma, it will costs 15,728,640 EU (30.000/125 = 240 process, 240 *16 ticks = 3840 ticks at 4096 eu each). That means I don't have to feed the reactor until the end of reaction, that energy will be used instead?
-
I hadn't calculated that part before, but now I come up with a figure of 26252 L of each to break even with the startup cost, so over that would give positive EU gain. 37975 L each if you want to recover the processing costs of making the deuterium and tritium as well (though that's still ignoring cable losses, the costs of making empty cells to fill with oxygen when electrolyzing the water, and any costs of pumping the water)
Wow, way more than I though. Thanks again! -
Oh, I see, thanks.
About my math, well, I was at work, so I have missed something.
So, if isn't to ask too much, how much Deuterium and Tririum I should have before starting the fusion, to have a positive EU gain, (using plasma generators mark I, and considering only the fusion start and running process)?
I calculated about 20.000l each, but, as Mauve said, my math is a little off... -

Yeah, Buildcraft does have a void pipe, we could have something to eject a fluid on the world at least.
I think the only way is recycling.About the stone dust, you can use a item pipe on a T format, ore washer -> hammer and the same pipe link to chest, just make the hammer closer than the chest, like this:
xxxxxxxxxxx Chest
xxxxxxxxxxx -pipe-
Ore washer -pipe- Hammer
Items on pipes always look for the closest valid slot, so if you put the the hammer closer to the ore washer than the Chest, the Purified ore goes to the Hammer, and the stone and tiny dust will go to the chest. -
1) Say you craft wrought iron ingots from nuggets. Which combination of controls do you use so that it all gets distributed evenly over the crafting table? And which mod adds that (if any is needed)?
1) Is this a mod thing? I realized some time ago that I could do that by using the left mouse button, instead the right one. Left = distributes, right = puts one each slot. Some much easier to convert nuggets and tiny dusts =).I miss the Electric Crafting table too. I see that there's a crafting schematic, meant to be used with the packager, but I never tried, wiki says that was not implemented.
I really want to automate crafting motors and pumps... -
I want to avoid more mods for now, maybe I'll look on GC later.
I thought I had read on changelogs that Gregtech asteroids were back, but was only a Spwnx suggestion;Well, I'll try a aqua Pickaxe for the fortune 3. If that wouldn't be enough, I'll just reset the End...
Feels like cheating, but I'll remove common ores from generating there before that. Feels so much more wrong finding a Tin/Nickel vein there...
Thanks for the info, guys. -
So, guys, quick questions: I'm on the End now, looking for osmium. Iridium seems to be pretty rare, I found some dust and small ores, but not mined it yet.
Will I need a Silk touch pickaxe, to get those small ores to my base and Pulverize it, or I need to find the regular Iridium ore?
I'm playing on the 5.08.27, where those asteroids mentioned are generated, are they too far from the center island? -
"Avast ye" is pirate speak for piss off, or go away.
Well, that should work only for other pirates, because I would be still waiting for him explain what he meant by that on non-pirate language;
Unless he looked really pissed/angry/crazy/menacing at me. But then, he didn't even needed to speak anything, I probably would piss of or go away anyways. -

Is there a way to use the "needs maintainance cover" with machines that have their controller in the middle layer, e.g. turbines? It would be even better if i could attach 2 covers with different settings per turbine, one for me to notice if there is a problem, another one to activate a bypass to lower efficency single block turbines when severasl things broke...
^This.
The controller cover is amazing, but not every multiblock can use it.
I wish we could have a "Comms data block", like the input/output bus, that could be used on any part of the multiblock (only one per multiblock). It could be used to attach more 2-3 covers directly.Or, to add some awesomeness, connect to another block, a "Controller computer", allowing 4 more sides to covers, and a GUI with the complete machine statuses (Efficiency, current EU consumption OR output (in case of generators), list of Items/gases on the input bus and output bus), and turn-on/off button on the GUI.
+1000 if we could access this data remotely, from a central server. -
Ah, that's right, I forgot that this is basically a program, I have to pass every reference...
And I see that there's a different function liquids input, nice to know.About being cheap, it's the same recipe from the GT original, Wrought Iron takes only 5 seconds to became Steel.
I just want to use 9 nuggets instead 1 ingot .Well, I can't thank you enough. Great MOD btw.
