I'm not sure what you consider to count as the "least effort", but in terms of keeping the other components as simple as possible, you could just go with this design:

For the most total uranium you can safely put in a single reactor, the best I can come up with right now is 39 with this design:

They haven't been ported to the newer versions of IC2 yet, though based on this thread I think they're still hoping to do so eventually.

Check JEI for the crafting recipe. If you got the recipe from a wiki, it might not be up to date for that build of IC2.

True, and that's only considering vanilla Minecraft. Even ignoring backpack-type mods, with GT5u, it's theoretically possible to push that even further by making him carry 36x64 cubic meters of neutronium (though ofc it would take absurdly long to produce that much in survival...), and AE2 allows one to make singularities, which might qualify as a type of black hole.

I wasn't talking about using oilberries as a fuel source, but as a way to get polyethylene (which is what I figured Blood Asp meant by oil not being needed until HV tech). Is drilling for oil with MV tech really a decent way to get enough for diesel generators? I couldn't figure out whether it was worthwhile to build a drilling rig.

What about oilberries? It takes a while to breed them, but it can technically be done with only LV tech.

http://ftb.gamepedia.com/Thermal_Centrifuge_(GregTech) says it draws 2 amps, so the usage comes out to 24 volts 2 amps for a total of 48 EU/t.

Going mostly from memory here, so others feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on some of these:
Sulfur can be used to make sulfuric acid, needed for TNT or iTNT in the most recent versions of GT5, or sodium persulfate, used in a chemical bath to get zinc/nickel/copper byproducts from certain ores.
Sodium and Lithium can be used for batteries.
Manganese is one of the ingredients of stainless steel.
Calcium might be re-combinable with carbon and oxygen to get calcite for blast-furnace processing of certain iron-containing ores.
Carbon can be used for solar panels (although the higher-tier panels are disabled by default)

Different tier batteries or just different materials (e.g. cadmium battery, sodium battery, acid battery, etc.)? For a medium voltage battery buffer you want a medium lithium battery, not a small lithium battery. See http://ftb.gamepedia.com/Battery_Buffer#Batteries for what other GT and IC2 batteries will work at different tiers.

Are you using the same galacticraft infinite batteries in the MV battery buffers? That might be the problem right there. Unlike in IC2, even "infinite" batteries are expected to have a fixed tier in GT, so they'll only work with one tier of battery buffer, even if in IC2 they'd be able to charge a BatBox, CESU, MFE, or MFSU equally well.

Are you sure all IC2 items are disabled? I find that hard to believe, unless you made a mistake and just meant the IC2 cables. For one thing, if you can't make cropsticks or treetaps, how can you get sticky resin for making rubber? (I notice that modpack doesn't include MFR as an alternate source of rubber). Also, a few materials in GT5u normally require the IC2 nuclear reactor to obtain.

Anyway, presuming you're in creative mode, a more reliable way to infinitely power GT MV machines is this:
MFE with infinite battery (e.g. galalcticraft's, or the IC2 debug item) -> GT MV Transformer -> GT MV machine
I notice that Infitech 2 includes Extra Utilities, so here's an alternative that's not quite infinite, but probably close enough for testing purposes, in case the MFE is not available:
Bedrockium drum of nitro diesel, piped into an Advanced Diesel Generator, with the GT MV machine on the output of the diesel gen.

What are you using for your "infinite batteries"? iirc, the IC2 "debug item" isn't recognized by GregTech 5 as a valid power source inside machines or battery buffers, and the GT debug scanner probably only works for one GT tier (possibly LV). As far as cables, are you using IC2 cables or GregTech cables? IC2 cables require an IC2 transformer or storage block next to a GT transformer before you can power GT machines (see http://ftb.gamepedia.com/GregT…ricity#Energy_conversions)

Please provide more details:
1. Do you mean GregTech 5 or GregTech 6?
2. How exactly have you powered it? (if it's GregTech 5, many of the IC2 power sources won't work directly, but might not be obvious that they're not working)
3. What specific items and liquid have you tried putting into it?

I think there's a development build of Forestry for 1.10.2. Does anybody know if the Rubber Plantation works in that build to allow automated harvesting of sticky resin? (since stickreed is obviously not available due to the lack of cropsticks)

Even if you add Minetweaker recipes to allow crafting red/black granite tool heads, there's two problems with that: 1. you need a level 3 pickaxe, such as cobalt or diamond, to harvest red/black granite in the first place, and 2. red/black granite tools have such low durability that you'd only be able to harvest about 10 or so red/black granite blocks with a red/black granite pickaxe before it breaks. (just guesstimating here, though)
