My ideas:

Rusty root - Tier VI
- Grows slowly, absorbs minor amounts of iron contained in soil
- Drops itself. Can be burned/smelted to get iron dust/piece
- Iron ore needs to be under soil block, needs no light, requires tool to break
- Sharp, Rusty
- Looks like rusty pumpkin stem, damages when breaking with hands

Venomilia - Tier III
- Grows fast, dies in darkness, kills nearby plants
- Whole soil block needs to be replaced to get rid of it
- Grows poison sacks, can be harvested and thrown
- Food, Poison, Persistent
- Walking over it (without boots) applies poison and destroys poison sacks
- Violetish plant with (liquid)poison sacks

I am about to install RedPower 2 together with IC2. Although it is commonly used with IC2, i don't know about the compatibility of the two. How about rubber trees or copper/tin ? Do i have to modify config files a litte to disable ore generation for one mod or is it perfectly compatible ?

Expensive ? You get 2 generators cheaper than 1 solar. 2 of them give 0.5 EU/t (CONSTANTLY), while solar generator in bad weather gives down to 0 EU/t (0.54 EU/t without rain). All numbers are average per minecraft day.

Lower output but higher 2.33 eff.

I like this idea, but what if you manipulate with upgrades while machine is running ? Wouldn't it cause a mess ? It may be solved by locking upgrade slots while it is turned on, i don't know if that's possible, though.

I did same mistake once ! Actually it doesn't matter which block you measure, it will show you amount successfully transmitted to the next split/storage/transformer. That's how it works now.

I personally don't think such thing would be useful. I use torches mainly to prevent mobs spawning when i'm not present. Also brightness in menu can be increased. In this case, no additional light is needed to "see" what is happening even in deepest underground. Next thing is, i bet there are few mods which can provide you with mining helmets, dynamic lights and more.

I used mainly solar power(besides nuclear) in my last world. I was not very satisfied with the weather, so i'm probably going to use water power in my actual world.
The design i made consists of floors with 16 generators on each floor. Floors can be easily added since whole system uses only one water source block (you don't have to remove a lot of water). It uses quite a lot tin cables (about 45 bars per 4 floors) but its still cheaper than solar power.

What do you prefer ? What are your generator setups ?

Subject describes it pretty much - EU Reader is showing very strange numbers when scanning MFS connected to 64 running water mills.

Mills should produce 16EU/t. MFS unit is gaining EUs fine, so probably there is problem with reader. Posting it here because i'm not sure if it is reader bug or something else.

But you don't need enchantments if they are going to replace it with some other way of improvement. I hope they are.

There were two layers of bedrock. Ore was on second. I stepped on ore and scanned in each direction until it gave 0.

Not even close to Mark II. Mark V like every good CASUC. You most probably posted wrong design, because not a single line of your specs matches linked design.

you wil run the reactor like this. snow gollems make snow, right? the basic coolant for all ur needs. (after some refining ofcourse)

set up and system like such: snow gollem - block breaker (at his feet) - singularity compressor - retriever - personal safe (main storage of your ice!) - retriever - reactor.

this ensures the max posible EU/T and effectively generates an bit over 1750 EU/T (the compressor consume 67 EU/T)

Your link is same as Lunigar's.
Also OP said "without burning up any part". If ice blocks and water buckets are considered parts, then CASUC in not an option, since it's based on "burning up parts".
In that case, dezuman's design is probably best you can get.(The one Lunigar posted. I use it too.) IT'S SUPER EFFECTIVE ! (Mark II)
