People have every "right" to discuss the branches of the mod in mod threads decide what one they want. The only insulting here is YOURS insulting the authors as if they are children that cant supply information in relation to what direction they are taking their mod in relation to another variation. No one is spamming. You need to shut up, sit down, and let people have civil discussion about ideas (even if they get the ideas from *gasp* other places, you can rest assured the authors are capable of deciding what to add) without you having to butt your immature angry little attitude into it.

Get off his case. Kane has valid points and knows what he's talking about. What Calclvacia did with MFFS was considered a copyright troll with IC2 code, and an insult towards IC2 for whatever his selfish reasons may be. Hell, even his post in this thread

Good luck on your derivative version.

Is insulting, as he's saying that this add-on will be nothing but a small fraction of the original.

So don't come in this thread and attack someone who knows what they are talking about, when you don't even know the backstory behind this mod. If you want ideas, then fine, collect them and go. But don't belittle the people here who have their right to be offended by the actions of another person.

So, since I just read this article, I figured I'd post something here. Mostly because I don't want to create a new account over there, and mostly because this does involve IC2 in a way...

Should Minecraft become an eSport? Personally, I don' think so. There isn't a whole lot in Minecraft that can make the game 'competitive' on any scale, beyond artificial time constrains and map redesigning. Yeah, the Vech maps and FTB challenge maps can be fun, but are they competition worthy? That's very hard to say. I would guess you could gain some humorous comical value from the events as people die in unfortunate circumstances by mobs and environmental effects. Still, if the players are going to compete on a competitive level, I don't think these incidents are going to be the norm. Or at least, frequent enough to make Minecraft a fast paced 'clutch' game. I'm sure the market is there for this, but I'm not sure it would be a great move in terms of the direction that Minecraft in general is going.

It also raises more of the issue of 'mod rights' and 'update schedules'. We know about how long it's taking Redpower to update. We know that IC2 isn't "officially" updated to 1.5.1 beyond Jenkins builds. Sure, we can ignore most of the whiny bickering from people about updating to new Minecraft versions as mod authors fight and reign in the code to preform correctly. But now, there are forces at work to put eSports teams on the line for mod updates when Minecraft changes versions. This is highly problematic. For one, no one who mods gets direct income for their hobby (outside of donations afaik, and I could be wrong about this). Secondly, Minecraft isn't kept up by a business like Valve, Blizzard, or Riot, who maintains their infrastructure for the competitive scene. Asking community members who code for fun and create content on their own time to match MLG time table sounds highly impractical, at least from an unpaid standpoint. The fact that there were arguments over Redpower not being up-to-date (which most were unnecessarily fueled and truncated by you know who) is enough to be of concern that expecting people who code for a hobby to be up-to-date for MLG Seasons. It's not practical. At least not with the current situation where mod authors are reliant on the generous donations of the fan base.

A solution, of course, would be to pay mod authors for their time and talents if they are included in MLG events. Which would be great, if Mojang was more clear in their legal terminology to allow that. This is the current catch 22 about modding: you really can't sell mods, outside of ad revenue, because of Mojang. We don't have a Mod API. We don't have much official support from Mojang in terms of code, or legality, or anything for that matter. And now people want to make modded Minecraft part of the competitive MLG business model? To me, there seems to be various logistical hick-ups that will probably kill this move. Unless there is a way to pay mod authors for their time and talents, I think its really unfair to put this kind of pressure on them. How do they expect unpaid individuals to match the corporate decided tournament time-tables, which generate tons of revenue on their own? Also, what if Mojang sees such an action and decides that it's "not in their interest" to pursue it? Since they own the Minecraft franchise, they have a right to pull the plug on this. Not saying that they will, of course, but it is a looming possibility.

tl;dr: This seem like a very impractical move, at least on Slowpoke's part, to bring modded Minecraft to eSports. Sure, I think people may like it, but there are alot of issues that need to be worked upon before attempting something this bold and this competitively demanding.

If the basic answer is "don't bother with bio fuels, just grow trees and chop them up into scaffolding" then the mod's power progression is broken; that's just not how the world works.

From what I understand of GT, the "proper" progression is from solid fuel Generator to liquid fuel Generator (be it Oil/Fuel or Lava). While those options are pretty robust, it does make gameplay highly linear, as renewable applications are unwelcome...

There is a strong difference between 'base IC2 style of play' and 'GT style of play'. The meta-game confusions between these two are part of the reason Gregtech is a very polarizing mod in terms to how players respond to it.

BLASPHEMY! only the classic will do! thats why its classic!!

lol, agreed. The only thing that I personally count as 'canon' from the 3D versions of Sonic is the addition of Shadow (before he became an 'emo kid' character in his own game). Other than that, the games are crap atm. I appreciate the attempts to reboot the franchise, but I don't think that Sega is going to reclaim that lost luster. I mean, seriously, Were-hog? Kratos disproves...

BTW: Grats on being a parent! Be sure an raise the wee one on all the great classics, lol!

And for the Gold Pans: I plan to add Dirt which contains gold nuggets in River Biomes.

Kinda like how TFC does their panning, or something a tad bit forgiving?

Photons may have not a mass, but they have Energy, and as far as I know E = mc², so they DO have indirect mass.

Ooo! Ooo! I can actually answer this, with a Youtube video example!

(Note that I don't maintain Minute physics. I am just shamelessly promoting that Youtube channel)

Based upon your comment I had gone to and started editing the GraviSuite.cfg to learn the positions when I saw that the thread had received replies. Was hoping for a top middle option but alas there appears to be none. Thank you MagusUnion for saving me some time there.

Not a problem.. just doing ma duty

The Empire of Childishness or another empire i dont know about?

Actually, the time between 1.7.3 and Technic, to be honest...

And in a convoluted way, I think he's trying to reference me in that tweet to Greenwolf, but I'm not the one posting in that thread. So...
(even though I have bickered with the two of them before. Must be my Jade Falcon blood humming into the Net)..

Well. I guess my opinion on FTB has changed quite dramatically...

However, I see no support thread in the addon section. If you would kindly direct me to it I'll repost there. I'm just a new user looking for an answer. If you can provide an answer, or direct me to a place where I can acquire an answer great! If you are just a board troll who ups his post count by telling people they are posting in the wrong place rather than offering any assistance or direction I guess I'll look elsewhere. I just assumed that the IC2 forums would be the best source of information.

You REALLY think that we are that organized on this site? REALLY?

Here's the solution you are looking for:
    1. Go into the folders in which house your modpack files.
    2. Go to "Modpack named folder" -> minecraft -> config.
    3. Click open the "GraviSuite.cfg" file
    4. On the section that says "hud settings", Change the number in "I:hudPosition=1" to one of these values:
    **** Hud positions: 1 - topleft, 2 - topright, 3 - bottomleft, 4 - bottomright.
    5. Click File -> Save

At least you get the to see the config. in action this way. Most forum posters here are "veterans" (if you can even say that, tbh) in modded Minecraft, so pay no mind to the harshness they have to green horned mod users. Most of us had to fight with configs. on a frequent basis in the past, so this type of knowledge is very 2nd nature at this point...

And what if its a Nation of Science?

I think the only thing we had that was like that was ancient Greece. We have yet to replicate that in this day and age...
(Well, maybe the Nordic countries, lol...)

I agree, but as countries always subsidize Science (or almost) to get any political/economical/military advantage ... Seriously, do you think the Manhatan project has been funded for "human species" ? ^^ That's as if I was telling France chose Nuclear to learn about Nuclear Physic. You'd answer me "no, that was just to be able to generate its own energy". It is often thought that great scientist are making Science just because they love that and want the mankind in general to improve. Some are like that. But not that much, that'd be forgetting the fact the 2 things that probably contribute the most to Science (as for money): army and big companies ^^

Well, granted. But at the same time, from everything that we have been able to derive from those pursues had expanded our knowledge greatly in other fields. Like with medicine and commercial energy, the concepts of harnessing the atom to create energy has many applications. True, those applications can be hideously destructive when directed to warfare, but it's not the only application for such knowledge. These derivative applications, stem from a scientific discovery being applied in a different way or angle, which can also enable further derivative applications of that knowledge if they are successful. The point is, the discoveries in science (so I believe), can stand independent from the political environments that created them, because that knowledge can be applied in a vast multitude of unintended ways. And no government on this Earth has 100% control over every application of scientific knowledge. Well, without imposing some extreme forms of censorship, that is. And even then, it can't prevent the human conditional ability of innovation...

Lol, I didn't even notice you didn't use the english-word. Too bad Lavoisier didn't know the periodic chart. He'd name it A, so that would be easier to know (it belongs to the few exception, such as Hg or W, which aren't logical for a frenchman . Lol, I just think of how stupid it seems for English-speaking people to call Iron Fe (though it's "Fer" in french ) or Ag for Silver (Argent in french).

    *RAGE!* YOU SHUT YO MOUTH!!!!!!!!

lol, jk. It is kinda funny. Although I personally think that principles like Science and Education are above the concepts of patriotism for nationalities. Usually, because if you advance something in science, you are doing it for the greater whole of the human species, regardless of what sub-division those members are apart of. But yes, "Fe" for Iron does seem odd for English people, but I personally just treat it as a quick labeled symbol and think nothing of it afterwords, lol...

If you soo damn smart, just port texture handling to 151th implementation yourself...

Yes, and its definetly not for players to play with, because its so buggy anyway. Unless you hunt bugs.

This is correct. And while I'm sure they appreciate your "dedication" to the mod, they don't need the entire community to poke apart each and every dev builds. Mostly because, people will make comments on the same bug/flaw 300 different times. 300 reports on the same bug does little to help the team...
