We aren't changing those anytime soon anyways, and if Alb doesn't want a 1.3 port we'll do it anyway.

Without the wishes of the Dragon lord? FOR SHAME!

But I would guess that Alba would prefer an official port due to creating compliance with the Mod API system, and being able to secure the functionality of it via Mojang. (It would also help deter modpacks and wrangle some controls on those who distribute them with no regard to the mod developers)...

*thinks* I'm having a hard time hating this suggestion... Mostly because the only problem with it is the fact that it's useless, instead of normally disbalanced or completely overpowered like many other suggestions for posters of this type...

I think there is a Custom Machine Recipes add-on, so if they want to insert this, then idk why not...

    10. The Exploiter
If there is a complex mod, there are intelligent people. If there is a mechanic and intelligent people, there are possibilities to exploit these mechanics.
The Exploiters main goal is to figure out just that little niche someone didn't consider, creating perpetuum-mobiles, ridicolous UUM-conversions and other things which justs aren't meant to happen.
Often smiled upon and congratulated to his newest find, the exploiter yet is known to be one of the arch enemey of all mod developers, giving his tendancy to mess up just whatever they implemented, forcing them to redo it in the most secure way possible... just for him to find another loophole.

I'll just go ahead and take my title now... No need to worry yourself over how I create infinite power on legit worlds, as I'm sure I don't want to reveal my work to future nerfs... even if those methods include-

I just noticed that this kinda reffers to Vietnam. Creeps!

Same... but I doubt anyone who was ever in Nam plays Minecraft (apologizes if there are exceptions to this...)

I'd go with a slight renaming of the idea, but it's a great concept to bring into IC...

Thank you Great Dragonlord Alblaka for handling the 'pro-pacifistic' posts. They were giving me chronic diarrhea with their stupidly peaceful ways...

I only found traffic costs for VPS
3TB per month are free, after that you pay 0.25$ per GB (125$ per 500GB) or you could pay 50$ for 500GB beforehand
That means they probably don't make any money and are officially stupid

That's sickeningly dishearting, considering the fact that (last I checked) alba was in a bit of a fiscal pickle and was looking for help from any source available. Honestly, I would rather them have the money and sitting on it in some hidden corner, than some toss-it-in-the wind tactic like this... :-/

Wow, I'm not sure what is worse. Profiting tons from other people's stuff. Or making tons of money from other people's stuff and throwing it down the drain?

I'd go with the latter, as you are perpetuating 'wasteful spending', as that's a global plague on all stretches of the world due to how uninformed people are when entering into market transactions...

Defense mechanisms are the most interesting, though watching someone come to terms with their own hollywood delusion is very satisfying.
And I get to dramatically overact occasionally when I string those cliches together, which is a great outlet for the barrage of broadway musical songs my wife subjects me to.

And what gives you the right to judge who's 'reality' holds the most truth? Did you create the reality? Are you in charge of the mechanisms behind it? If not, then you honestly need a new hobby, as the only perception you have a right to is your own...

tl;dr: So I guess Technic isn't smart enough to actually exploit the mods effectively.. but there are still plenty of reasons to dislike them regardless...

neowulf pm'ed me and said he is willing to drop all this and get along if you are.

He only did that to take advantage of your vulnerability and inability to face conflict... And in what case, in any of this, did I even call you my friend?

I could care less about his personal argument. However, I do want to know if my theory of Technic launcher log-in's can count as puesdo-ad views on the Technic website, from a programmer's perceptive, could work... In which case, I'm pretty sure it would be fairly easy to spot in the launcher if it's sending additional data information to the Technic forums to force a server side page loading...

According to bbq's own rates and that little "hits total:" count below, Alblaka should be sitting pretty on over $20-40k by now from this forum alone.
Or maybe, just maybe, ads aren't as lucrative as you guys seem to think.

Remembered something: I've had alot of support requests from Technic users in the past who have stated that they are required to use their forum ID to log into the launcher, from which to have access to the mods and such to play Minecraft from. Now, this login is based off a Technic forum account, and that in order to use said launcher, you have to register on the forums first.

In this case, would it be possible to count these login actions as site views, which indirectly count as ad views for the site to generate income? Would make sense, but I don't get how the code ties together in that respect...

can't we all just cut the drama and get along?

Neowulf stop trying to get the last word in

You answered your own question in the same span of two lines...

And really magus, my misbehavior? My refusal to roll over and accept everything you say as gospel truth? My insistence that if you're going to flame technic, you should have some actual evidence and not just "Because I say so!" (burden of proof being on the accuser is such a pain, innit?)

I never said that you had to believe me. In fact, I expect everyone to have the capability to form their own opinion on a situation regardless of what I say, or whether they give what I say any relevance what-so-ever. (I'm actually surprised that Fenix was slightly supportive of me. Bit of a shock tbh, and I appreciate it nonetheless). I may not like what you say, but they are your words, and you are entitled to them regardless of any interaction I may partake with them...

However, if you expect me to just 'play ball' with Technic's existence and activities, then it is YOU who is being arrogant. You have plenty of options to ignore me, in various ways, but your persistence shows that you still have something to gain from all of this infighting. I'm not about to change my stance, period. And if you can not respect that, then it is YOU who has the problem...

On a second thought, Technic is one of IC's main sources of publicity (and indirectly, income)...

And where would those people get the mods if technic or a similar pack didn't exist? ;)

    Here.
That would lead to more people visiting ic.net and probably more people donating

Precisely! This has been most of my motivation in this argument... They are profiteering, and it's highly apparent that they are doing so without care...

I don't have time to respond to the Goon Neowulf atm.. work/class/bills... not worth the time to be late and all...

don't ban him he makes addon and is rather tame as long as there isn't 4+ technic bashing threads running at once

That's a shitty excuse... His add-on isn't that awesome to allow for his misbehavior. NO add-on is..

I have to wonder why you brought it up in the first place. What does it matter if anyone at all is a member of SomethingAwful, or regularly visits 4chan/b/, or reddit, or whatever? The only thing SA membership means is they paid money to post on a forum, which consequently makes them somewhat more closed off to outsiders than most people.

It has more to do with looking into the reasoning as to why he wishes to defend Technic like he does. Is he a member of Tekkit? of Goonswarm? Is he defending his own pack that he doesn't have permission for? Or does he just want to continue to be lazy and just not bother with the process of configuration for these mods?

Either way, people have a reason behind their actions, especially actions that are as polarized as his about the issue...
