Mark 1-0 B 100 EU/tick : Redstone Power Water Cooled

  • I just built a prototype reactor and tested it in game. (in SMP, no less! Go to brickedtechnology.blogspot.com if you want to log on my server)

It uses Redstone Power 2 for an active water cooling setup. I have to go soon, but I'll post screenshots when I get back. It produces a stable 100 EU/tick, it has an efficiency of 3.33, and it does NOT accumulate heat. It reaches the boiling point for water, 4000 heat, and is stable from there.

In fact the cooling system is working a lot better than my calculations indicated (I thought it would be a Mark II even with cooling because I computed the maximum speed of redstone power filters and transposers to be lower than it was)

It uses 9 filters, 2 deployers, 2 transposers, and 13 sequencers. No time to calculate the costs, but it was not expensive. It does not consume resources to run. (vs the tin water cell Ice cooling method which destroys thousands of tin per cycle)

This is the reactor design, although I think I can do even better now that I know how well water cooling works.

  • Hmm with redpower you can fill buckets and get them in the reactor and out again? Really wanna see your setup this can be epic :). I mean a 3,33 eff 100 eu reactor that runs like a mk1 is sweet. Could be made more efficient through i think but i wanna see your setup first before we start perfecting it :)

  • ok redpower is a truly awesome mod now and it interacts with other mods very well. Deployers can fill buckets not only from water source blocks but also from buildcraft tanks (no longer have to manualy refill geogenerators!!!). Be sure to use additional pipes for the advanced wooden pipe to maximalise your efficienty :)

  • OK first of all when you title your reactors like that it is am empty promise.
please use the -CASUC suffix in all of your "water cooled" reactors
second, this is my design that I developed for an ice cooled CASUC facility: http://test.vendaria.net/index…HXUXXUXHUUUUHXHXXHXXXXXXX
yes it doesn have 5 chambers meaning that you probably cant use it with RP PR2 but you could use this: http://test.vendaria.net/index…HXUXXUXHUUUUHXHXXHXXXXXXX

I think that there is no real need to have more than 3 efficiency simply because uranium is quite common and once you get a certain amount of spare EU you can just manufacture uranium.

Al removed uran UU recipe. Thermodynamics approve

  • Hmm? He said he would ... Meh

And the reactor in the OP is NOT mk-1. -CASUC reactors shall be labeled with the mark they would have WITHOUT the extra cooling, to avoid confusion :)

  • A major point is: by the time you have actually gathered enough resources to make a 6 chambered reactor (even with autominers) you will have in excess of 50 uranium
    now you can either:
have a safe low powered reactor which uses 4-8 uranium while producing max 80EU/t or
have a not so very safe Mark III reactor which uses 4-12 uranium while producing max 120 EU/t in increments or
have an unsafe Mark V reactor with redstone timers or CASUC producing insane amoutns of EU min 80EU/t max ??? or
Make several Mark II reactors and by that time have over 200 uranium which you will not use for months producing 240 EU/t (for 3)

so the best power/time/resource ratio is to have a single bucket CASUC Reactor with massive power output.
    but not very safe...

I am afraid to ask how large is the max explosion radii set to on your server? did you put it way down? or did you put it upwards just for the LULZ?
I set mine to 240 XD

  • Fourfire, dancing with the devil much?

I agree that water bukkit CASUC appears to be superior in most fields, but I would like to point out that stacking many normal reactors probably is more compact :D

  • Fourfire : I turned it up to 70. (and the gunpowder nuke down to 15 because I think the nuclear TNT is lame, real nuclear bombs are very complex and expensive)

Maybe I should turn it higher.
