Display MoreIn my opinion is a good thing to use the charcoal to make diamonds, because the natural diamonds (IRL), are made of old-compressed trees of the Dinosaurs' era, maybe it needs a LOT of charcoal, to make a diamond!
Like:
4xcharcoal-> compressor -> coal
Or something like this!
As far as being IC2 built in, No. people already have diamond farms. we shouldn't really make that easier.
If your hell bent on having this for your self i believe there is an add-on. charcoal dust i believe is the name, should look it up.
Problem: Solar pannel and nano-stuff would become to easy to get.

Hmmm... Try to find a Mineshaft. There are Diamonds in Chests. And i have no Problems with finding Diamonds (found 23 Today), maybe your Forge is bugged.

Charcoal Dust does not allow for making diamonds with the charcoal dust.
