Suggestion: solar panel with redstone output

what is so hard about using the search function

Problem with using Solar sensor from RedPower ?
And as already suggested ... Solar pannel + detector cable is too a good way.

As a side note, both solutions (detector cables and RedPower's solar-panel-in-a-gate) will also detect rain.
