Welcome to the Experimental Hardcore Post-Apocalyptic Server, bringing you a unique experience in the hardcore apocalyptic Minecraft server genre.

• hardcore: maximum difficulty, PvP enabled, stealing, raiding, griefing allowed, no world protection, death bans
• apocalyptic: random spawn, local chat, generated fallout shelters, craters, and rare abandoned structures

Rules:

• No hacking, cheating, exploiting, x-ray, or unauthorized client mods
• No excessively lagging the server
• No asking for free items or teleports when you die
• Violation of rules = permban
• Stealing, raiding, robbing, killing, griefing is allowed - this is hardcore
• Coordinate sharing is allowed, anywhere
• Rules subject to change

• 16,000 x 16,000 map + random spawn
• Death ban 1 day
• Legit survival
• Hosted in USA with 1 Gbps uplink
• 8 GB memory with eight-core CPU

Server Plugins:

That's right, ExpHC runs Bukkit. Not for world protection (its a hardcore server after all), but additional useful functionality:

• Cake's Miner Apocalypse - generated fallout shelters with custom loot
• RealisticChat - local chat, whispering, yelling, bullhorns, walkie talkies, smartphones
• RadioBeacon - radio towers, relays, portable compass radios
• PotionsPlus - new potions, rarely found in fallout shelters
• EnchantMore - new enchanted items, rarely found in fallout shelters
• BetterDispensers - vertical dispensers and more
• QuickBench - crafting without recipes
• Chestpack - wear a chest on your chest
• SilkSpawners - silk touch picks up monster spawners
• Exclusive trading plugin - a global trade network accessible by holding an item in your hand you want to offer, then typing "/want" followed by the item you want in exchange.

Yes but it hasn't been ported yet, though probably will be soon after the links on the wiki are fixed, then I could update :). But 1.95b is not that bad actually, sure it has bugs which were fixed in 1.96 but is still very playable. Though I haven't posted it here until today, the server has been up for several months already; have been getting a lot of enjoyment out of the versions currently installed, even though there is something brand new and better just released.

But you do have a point about timing.. and I launched the first version of ExpHC -- with Minecraft 1.1, on the day of Minecraft 1.2's release :). Can't get too worked up about it.. Nonetheless, the server is still up and accepting new members if anyone is interested in playing some old-school IC2 v1.95b.

Updated to IC2 v1.97!

Also updated and added several other mods, but most notably, added: Immibis Modular Forcefields and my favorite, the brand new Gravitation Suite.

Updated tons of the mods. Full list of changes at is available, but as far as IC2 addons go, ExpHC is now running an updated Modular Forcefields, Nuclear Control, and Gravitation Suite. Lots of bug fixes across all the mods.

If you're already setup with the server, simply repeat the first step of the setup instructions sent to you and this will get you updated with the latest versions to connect to the updated server.
