Well, after Uber managed to mess up SMNC as well (All beta's kept telling them the same thing, they ignored it, and now SMNC is barely better off then MNC, only kept alive by the regular players), my support for them isn't exactly on a high level. And given the quality and depth of their other side-projects (SmashMNC, Moon Brakers)... well... I don't exspect much of this, either.
But let's see how things turn out.
I actually like SMNC and regularly play it. Once you get to a high skill level, matches really become fun and an alternative to Dota. Also as a true fan of TA and "owner" of a bunch of friends who won't play any game with outdated graphics -.- I really look forward to this game, since TA was and is the best rts game ever :P.
What exactly do you dislike about SMNC except for the friggin annoying microtransactions?

Completely agree with you TA was a awesome game. Really dont get why they dont make more of such games.
If you like TA btw try out TA spring.

Long rant incoming:
SMNC itself isn't bad, it's a great game. The issue is, they ran it into a wall, like they did with MNC.
Across the whole closed beta period, we (testers) CONSTANTLY told them the matchmaking was crap, the learning curve was to steep (for your average player) and there was X and Y in need to be done.
Whilst balance issues usually got fixed ~2 weeks after they showed up (in a casual ISSUE-WAIT-OVERNERF-REBUFF-NERF pattern), the important issues (matchmaking, tutorials, anything) were left out.
Suddenly the game jumped to "Invitational" aka Open Beta, STILL with no matchmaking. There was a large influx of new players due to Steam advertisment (~20k) and within A SINGLE WEEK, the number returned to 5k again, new players raging at the broken teambalances ETC.
Currently, you will, in prime times, find 500 players online. Occasionally a few 100 more on a patch-day.
Combined with the still sub-par matchmaking, it takes LONG for games to find. As a result, people started to monopolize the regions, aka everyone is exclusively queuing US:E now... which results in 100-300 pings... which again literally f with SMNC's "shaky" Netcode.
It's exactly the same thing that happened to MNC as well. Crappy marketing, too many colorful-useless features and a total oversight in regards to teambalance/matchmaking.
Of course, it is possible to have fun, but I, f.e., simply can't play a game like SMNC with pings of 120+ (loosing grapple-duels all-day, getting stuck on ledges, occasionally warping around, etc). Unless I manage to organize a Custom-set-up game... SMNC isn't really playable anymore.
If you got some time, you could browse through the Uber forum. Somewhen 3-5 months ago, I've predicted quite THIS outcome, stating they would ruin SMNC if they wouldn't priorize those aspects important to new players.
Assuming TA = Total Annilation
Yep, neat game. Though I've only played the Spring Remake of TA
Steam offers Supreme Commander ( Also kind of a sequel to TA ) as a daily deal right now. Just telling in case someons interested *g*

Jep, fine game. 'sadly' I've already bought it for 7€ some months ago...
I played both the old TA and some mods on spring engine. Better than supreme commander i can tell you
Funding is going nice dont forget to share this with everyone
This is the last day for the kickstarter campaign so dont forget to pledge!!
I had a strong feeling when I clicked on that link that it would be planetary annihilation. TA was the best RTS hands down, starcraft seems like super mario world in comparison. Sup-com was good in its own right, but I wouldn't call it a "spiritual successor" like it was marketed as.
I totally thought James Earl Jones did the voice overs in the originals mission briefings, and was surprised to see that really strange guy was the real man behind the voice.
Looks like one hell of a game though, worth the investment.
Does anyone here still play TA spring? I'm semi-active and would be up for a game.
