[Idea-List]:List of Idea for addons developpers: Almost a Rejected-Suggestion-Thread!

  • This thread is meant to be a list of Idea for addons. To be more accurate, it’s a Suggestion-Forum-like, but it deals with Idea too complicated to be implemented, or in a general way, with denied/ignored suggestion. It’s also supposed to be helpful for modders, that don’t know what they want to add to their addons, or searching complete system and not “I think this machine should be added” without any description, thought about gameplay change etc …

    To keep it clear, please follow these rules:

Once I see your suggestion and I have added it to the list, edit your “Suggestion-Post” and delete the content of the suggestion [keep the title] unless you think I hadn’t considered the whole thing (in that case, complain on your post, with constructive criticism. Most of the time, if I didn’t consider some points of your suggestion, that’s because they are redundant with some others, or not related with IC² AT ALL.

    -If you think your suggestion concerns mainly any specific modder, write it between []. The aim being to create an “Idea Bank”, feel free if you’re a modder to pick one idea up without considering an entire suggestion. As an example for my suggestions, it an be just the Hydrogen Battery, the Particle Collider or the Coal-based generator.

    -If you think I hadn’t look at your post and didn’t considered adding it to the list, please think I’m not logged all the time ^^.

    How to find it ?

    There are a
    few types of Oil:

    The first one is the one from BC. It can be used to get energy, plastics (à Rubber) and some gas.

    Then come a few others, which spawn in Sand /Sandstone/Stone [but nonrenewable] that you can harvest only by using the Advanced Miner: Shale Gas (can be found in any stone if it can help for coding, [using proper device, and with probabilities], gives Methane, Hydrogen, Petrol, Kerozene, and is pretty rare), Heavy Bituminous (sand/sandstone/soulsand(extremely common in soulsand, what makes the nether a Oil Source, gives Tar, Heavy Fuel, Plastic, Petrol, Kerozene, Diesel).

    How to harvest these Oils? With the Advanced Miner.


    ADVANCED MINER[Belong to OIL INDUSTRY]:

    The Advanced Miner is basically a Miner able to mine a 16*16 area. It is also able to detect Oil, Shale Gas and Heavy Bituminous. As a byproduct, it randomly generates some dust (depending on what it mines) out of stone, sand, gravel (<1%) and out of ores (from 5% to 20%, depending on the ore). It is also about 2 times quicker than the Miner (but will mine MUCH more blocks because it will harvest every block able to loot Oils, Dust etc …).

    The Advanced Miner will also automatically pumps Liquid (usage of cells or of Multi-Liquid Pipes is highly recommend, especially if you don’t want lave to ignite Oil …), since it contains a pump in itself.

    Why isn’t
    the Advanced Miner completely OP ? Because it runs on EU (a lot), Water (needs 1 Bucket a second) but also:
    -Sand(5 Block can be mined per Sand, EU consumption=3000)/Flint(40 Blocks, EU consumption=2200)/Iron Dust (200 blocks and 1800 EU/block)/Diamond Dust (2000 Block + 1500 EU/block)

    -Catalyzer:
    These are chemical products such as acid used to weaken stone, ores and others … One Catalyzer cells can be made out of: 1 Water cells + 1 Redstone + 1 Sulfur[If a mod adding sulfur is installed]/1 Water cells in a Chemical Filter[described in the Generator Part).


    Refinery [Belong to OIL INDUSTRY]:
    The structure: The Refinery is made out of Reinforced Tank (4 Reinforced Glass + 4 Advanced Alloyà 4 Reinforced Tank)[RC tanks could also be used], 1 Heater and Compressing Pipe(s) + Extracting Pipe(s) + Heating Pipe + Machine/Advanced Machine Block. The Heater must be placed at the bottom of the structure (with 8 Machine/Advanced Machine(/Machine Casing if GregTech is used), with from 1 to 6 layer of 9 (because the base is a 3*3 structure) Reinforced Tank. On the first layer, a Heating Pipe has to be used. As for the second, third and fourth layer, Extracting Pipes must be used. The 6th and the 7th will needs Compressing Pipes. Each [Processing] Pipe will increase the EU-Consumption by 3EU/t, but will also generate another byproduct (using several pipes by layer won’t increase the amount of byproducts got ^^). The EU-Consumption will be of 20 EU/t (with Machines) 30EU/t (with Advanced Machines) + 21 EU (if all Pipes are used, and thinking it would be stupid not to use any layers, even because of a lack of resources, I assume it could be coded as only one structure, working only as the whole thing is done.)

    Also notice that the refinery, which is harder to use than BC one (due to its price, the time it needs for each process etc …) is considered as a more advanced one than the one introduced by BC (at least by me ^^).

    Tar: Used with gravel [1 Tar + 8 Gravel à 8)to create road (wich allow vehicle to move 50% faster on, with a 20% consumption decrease, and player to move 10% faster). Can also be used to get 20 000 EU.

    Plastic: Can be exctracted to get 10 Rubber (or centrifuged with GregTech to output 10 Rubber and some byproducts). Can be burn to get 15 000 (if you really need more energy ^^).

    Fuel: Can produce 100 000 EU in the regular generator. Can be burned in the Slag Generator (e.g. +20 000 EU and some scraps) [Advanced Generator].

    Diesel: Can produce 150 000 EU in the regular Generator, the Diesel Generator (about 200 000 EU) [GregTech]. Can also be used as the lowest fuel for vehicle. (See Vehicle).

    Kerosene: Can produce 300 000 EU in the regular generator. It is also the Tier III fuel for Vehicles.

    Petrol: Can produce 250 000 EU in the regular generator. Tier II fuel for Vehicles.

    Methane: Can produce 450 000 EU. Tier IV fuel for Vehicles.

    Hydrogen: Can produce 600 000 EU. Tier V fuel for Vehicles. Can also be used to create the Ionic Hydrogen Battery.

    Fuel, Diesel, Kerosene and Petrol at least are meant to be burnable in a Petroleum Generator. Also notice:

    -That I mentioned generator from addons (GregTech, Advanced Generator etc …), but I’ll also make a list (down) of every generator that could be implemented to me, and I’ll mention what fuel should be burnable in what generator.

    -That the Hydrogen/Methane EU values doesn’t fit with GregTech, since I thought more about EU/mass, but it could works with it if considering 1 Hydrogen = 20 Hydrogen Cells and 1 Methane = 10 Me-Cells.


    Generators [Belong to OIL INDUSTRY]:

    Some of this may be already implemented by addons. But I’m bringing some changes that seems more logical/balanced to me. If you disagree, let’s argue later.

    Coal-based Generator:
    EU/t: 12
    Runs on Coal (will generate about 10 Milibucket of Methane per Coal) [10 000EU/Coal + byproducts] and Charcoal (5 000 EU byproducts). Byproducts are: Methane, Coal Dust[20% for Coal, 5% for Charcoal], “Chemical components” (wich means Sulfuric acid but also some others dirty things) [5% for Coal only], Thorium/Depleted-Isotope Dust/Cells [0.01% for Coal only] (depending on the fact GregTech is installed or not). If you’re using compressed air cells, you’ll get 25 000/ Coal and 10 000 EU/Charcoal, but
    you won’t get any byproducts.


    Notice that the “Chemicals components” are used to create the “Catalyzer” needed to run the Advanced Miner. So this generator is a good way to buff Coal-based energy while avoiding perpetuum mobile with UUM (can be done with O2 cells, but at this price, some Greengen could be better ^^).

    Diesel Generator: Already done by Gregtech, but should to me runs at 10EU/t with a +25/35% bonus per Fuel (because some of these fuels could also be burned in others generator with higher output or with byproducts). Runs on Fuel and Diesel.
    Slag Generator: Same as the one from Advanced Generator, but should to me only runs on Tar[High chance of getting scraps] , Fuel[Medium] and Diesel[Low].

    High-temperature Generator:
    EU/t: 30
    Will run on Diesel, Petrol and Methane.

    Explosion Generator:
    EU/t: 50
    Will runs on Hydrogen and Kerosene. [Secret: TNT can also be used for 50 000 EU at 200EU/t, but it will have a chance to break the generator (and the cable if you’re using MV xD)].
    Every generator can accept Compressed Air Cells as amplifier.

    Vehicles[linked with OIL INDUSTRY, mostly designed for GregTech (needs some metals more)]:
    Vehicles
    are awesome-endgame-means to mine, harvest agriculture products, mine or build. Takes care of the fact these aren’t meant to be used with addons/mods such as Computer Craft, because they would be clearly UP. They are meant to be advanced-expensive devices more efficient than tools way, but they are also a good way to create some real economy on servers, and adding some “realism”. I mean that the fact they need a lot of infrastructure to works properly (roads for faster travelling and decreasing energy consumption, huge refinery to refuel them, entire factory dedicated to their creation etc …).

    Assembling:
    Creating a vehicle is a complex process.
    To do it, you’ll need to:
    -Create the Hull. It can be a small, medium, or big one. The bigger, the more device it can bring. Hulls are made out of Refined Iron, Advanced Alloy and others … see [HULL].
    -Craft the devices you want it to use: these are pieces needed to craft any specific vehicle. Some are shared between vehicles (Tank for example), some aren’t (Drill Head).
    -Craft the motor. See [Motor and Power].

    -Assemble the whole thing using the Assembling Chain.
    This is a multi-block structure made with Machine/Advanced Machine/Machine Casing [GregTech]. It’s used to create the Hull (it has a GUI with a special (maybe extended) crafting grid, in the one you place pieces you want as for crafting, but it will take time (from 2 hours for the small Tier I Hull to 12 hours for the biggest one) and EU (from 32 to 2048EU/t) but also to assemble hull and others pieces together. VEHICLE CAN’T BE DISMOUNTED. They can only move and if you want to, placed into

    Hull: There are 3 size of Hull and 3 Tier for each.
    Tier I Hull are made out of Refined Iron and Advanced Alloy (and Aluminum or similar metals if Gregtech/mod adding metal is installed), Tier II are made out of Steel [GregTech/RailCraft], Advanced Alloy, Carbon Plate, and Titanium [GregTech]. Tier III are made out of Titanium, Chrome, Tungsten, Iridium Plate. Numbers depends on the size: Small Tier I Hull is made of about 240 Refined Iron, 40 Advanced Plate (100 Aluminum). Medium is three time as expensive and Big is 15 times as expensive. Hulls also needs Circuits, Advanced Circuits and others for computing, energy control etc …


    Vehicle Devices:

    The only important things is that Drill Head (for the Miner) has to be expensive (4 Iridium Plate and some diamonds should be enough) and others not (the Hull is very often the most expensive part, the Motor being the second). Every Machine device are made out of Steel/Refined Iron and Advanced Alloy/more Hayo-ish metals. (except for the Builder devices).

    Vehicles: Here is the description of every vehicle.
    [spoiler]Miner: This one is probably the most useful. It is able to dig a 5*5 area (speed depend on motor and fuel used, also notice that it will mine only while you’re leftclicking, what makes you able not to waste energy while you’re just moving) while moving forward. As for Ore mining, it contains an internal Mining Laser (used by rightclicking) and a powerful Attractive Field to catch all these loots. Miner can mine from 1 layer (5*5=25 blocks) every 5 second to 2 layer per second. It can move up to 7.5 block a second (on roads). To craft it, you’ll need a Big Hull, a Drill Head, a Motor, an Attractive Field, a Medium Tank (can store 72 stack by itself) and a Mining Laser. Needs at least Petrol, Kerosen, Hydrogen or some more advanced fuels to run (EU could also be used, but with an even more advanced motor … sadly)

    Digger: This vehicle is similar to the Miner, but only working on Sand, Gravel, Dirt, Grass and others “weak” materials from mods/addon. Although, it is useful for this specific task, because it can dig a 3*3/5*5/7*7 (depending on the Hull size) area, quicker than the Miner (from 1 layer every 3 second to 3 layer per second). It’s also lower energy-consuming, cheaper and have a very little chance of dropping some rare loots from Sand [Several Metal Dust, 0.01% per block], Gravel [Diamond and Gems, 0.001% per block], and Dirt/Grass [Empty cells, RE-battery and others random waste, be creative ^^]. You’ll need to craft it a Small/Medium/Big Hull with the corresponding Tank (36/72/108 stack), a “Digging Machine” and a Motor. Can run on any fuel.

    Woodcutter: Can harvest Wood, Sapplings, Apple and Resin (0.5 per Rubber log, 0.1 per Rubber leaves) in front of it (21 blocks large). Will also generate some Plantcumps as byproducts. Can run on any fuel.

    Harvester: Used for MASSIVE-Agriculture: will harvest wheat/pumpkins/melon/what you want and will generate plantcumps as byproducts. Can run on any fuel.


    Builder: Used to create roads (its integrated Tar Heater will allow you to save Tar to build even longer roads.) (from 4 to 8 large). Has also the ability to use Construction Foam to create a wall behind you, with a configurable size (from 1*1 to 5[large]*8[High]). Can run on any fuel.


    I guess you understand the idea: Miner has to be the most expensive, the hull size and the Hull Tier can increase or decrease efficiency by changing the device you can use with (high-tech Hull are also able to works with High-tech motor, which is really helpful in order not to be Fuel dependant. But guess what, it’s freakin expensive ^^)
    Motor:
    There are a few motors based on different Fuel:

    Diesel motor can only runs on Diesel, which is the lowest Tier of every fuels. It’s efficient in terms of consumption, but you’ll get a low speed with. The Diesel Motor is made out of Refined Iron, Tin, Copper, circuits, 30K coolant cells, Machines and Advanced Alloys. (At max usage, 1 Diesel Bucket will be consumed every 2 minutes).

    Petrol Motor deliver more power, what makes you able to run more consuming devices and hull. It’s made out of Steel/Refined Iron, Copper ( and Lead ?), Tin/Aluminum, Advanced Alloy, Advanced Circuits, Advanced Machine, 60K coolants cells, and some vents. (At max usage, 1 Petrol Bucket will be consumed every 90 sec).

    Hydrogen Motor is not more powerful, but very efficient. Although notice than if Hydrogen has the highest EU-value of every fuels, its energy delivered in a motor per tick is lowest than kerosene. Why ? Because energy conversion is very low for this fuel, but also because it’s renewable ^^ [with GregTech]. Its craft demands everything needed for the petrol one, but also Titanium and Tungsten. (1 Hydrogen Bucket à 3 Minutes, for a speed slightly higher than the Petrol Motor). Kerosene based motor is the most powerful using chemical fuels. He’ll allow you an amazing speed (about 1 layer per second with the miner) but will also consume TONS of fuel (1 Bucket à 1 minute). So powering your vehicles only with Kerosene will need a HUGE infrastructure. It’s a little bit cheaper than the Hydrogen one, and shouldn’t need Tungsten.

    Notice than each motors have an internal Liquid tanks
    able to store up to 40 bucket of fuel.

    These were Chemical-Fuel based Motor.

  • Here are Electrical motors, Particle Collider, Neutronium, AntiQuarks ... still from me. I hope people will be shorter than me, otherwise we won't have space enough ^^

    If you’re tired of using this non-renewable ressources (except for hydrogen, but it’s also dramatically unefficient [because it’s BURNED] in terms of EU used to get it vs what you could do with those EU with our newest products ^^), you should use our Hayo-ish Electrical Motors:

    At first, you should know that MFSU or similar storage units can’t be used by Vehicles. Why ? Because such systems aren’t resistant enough! (^^) That’s why you’ll have to use different storage solutions. The Small Electrical Motor (the engine parts is made out of Copper, Lead, Aluminum, Tin, Refined Iron and again copper, copper and copper ^^) will just needs tons(between of RE-Battery to be crafted (that’s even more tin and copper ^^). But due to energy losses during transmission, process … almost always in fact, it is only able to store up to 2 000 000 EU, which will be consumed in … about 15 min (120 EU/t at max speed). The Medium Electrical Motor is made of 1 Small Electrical Engine, but also Carbon Plate (15-20), Aluminum, even more Copper, Lead and Titanium. The Energy-Storage parts is a Lithium Battery. It needs about 100 Lithium Battery ^^. This motor runs on EU (max 300EU/t) and will run at full usage for about 30 minutes (Energy storage= 12 000 000 EU). This engine is about half powerful as the Diesel one.
    The Big Electrical Motor is even more advanced. You’ll need to craft it: 2 Medium Electrical Motor, some Carbon Plates, Titanium more, but also some Iridium Plates, Chrome Ingot and Tungsten Ingot. For its energy storage parts, it will needs some Hayo-ish Ionic Hydrogen Battery (about 30). These are made out of 1 Hydrogen Cell, 1 Oxygen Cell, 4 Platinum Ingot (Gold would be enough for lowest Tier tools, if you’re not using GregTech), 2 Advanced Circuits and one Carbon Plate. This awesome piece of technology is used to craft the Big Electrical Engine but can also store in itself up to 1 000 000 EU, and can be charged/discharged in any storage device (even your miner![the machine]).
    You could even be able to make an Hydrogen Pack with it (6 000 000 EU, unless it’s already based on a lower Tier Energy Pack). That’s why the Big Electrical Motor (using at full usage 1024 EU/t) can store up to 45 000 000 EU, which will allow you to run your Miner [I’m here talking about the vehicle ^^] (yes, it works!) for 35 minutes as fast as if you were using … a Diesel Motor.

    Then … if you think your vehicle aren’t powerful enough … use our Hayo-ish Nuclear-Powered-Motor! It’s not that expensive, you’ll just needs 2 Nuclear Reactors, 10 Chambers, a lot of Advanced Alloy and some extra Ingots … But with that you’ll got 2 times the speed/effectiveness of a Kerosene-based Vehicle! And you will consume 1 Uranium cells per minute. Sadly, due to radiation resistance, the only compatible Hull is the Big one.

    What? You want something even more powerful, awesome and high-tech than the Nuclear-Powered-Motor? You’re really mad man! But … we knew that. That’s why we created the Anti-Matter Engine!

    The Anti-Matter Engine is REALLY expensive: it needs Chrome, Titanium, Tungsten, Iridium Plates, Very-Advanced Machine, entire computer instead of Circuits … and is only compatible with the Protonium Hull. With that, you’ll be 4 times faster than with a Nuclear-Powered-Motor! What? Protonium ? You don’t know what is that ? And you don’t know how to create the Antimatter that your Motor will consume? Well, you should try our Better-than-the-LHC Particle Collider! (and you won’t need to be in France/Swiss with this f***ing old-stupid-dirty French guys living the Middle Age … [WTF ? I’m also French? I might have forgotten ^^]).

    Particle Collider (can be a part of any addon adding
    endgame-better-than-quantum-stuff):

    Multi-Block Structure: The Particle Collider is a Multi-Block structure: It needs Propulsive Coils, which are very expensive (for GregTech users, even more expensive than Fusion Coil). In the middle, you’ll need a Particle Collector (even more expensive than Propulsive Coil) and some Computer (GregTech Computer Cube could be right). Then, dispose the Propulsive Coils in one long line, with a Particle Collector in the middle. This one can have some Computer on its size, what would make you able to makes some research (if the addon implemented any research-system) on lost particles (by analyzing energy etc.). The Particle Collector will sometime generate some particle in its GUI.

    The Particle Collider works by launching 2 items one against the other at a very high speed. The collected particles (and the analyzed particles for the one lost) depends on its speed, which is depending on the energy drained by the Particle Collider [chose where the input has to be done]).

    How to increase this consumption? By adding more Propulsive Coils!

    Each Propulsive Coil will increase the energy/particle by 10 MeV … and the energy consumed per tick by 128EU/t … knowing that each “launch” will last 10 sec.
    You need something even more powerful than Propulsive Coil (because there is a 20 blocks limit) ? Use our incredible Advanced version of the Propulsive Coil (wich is about 40 times more expensive)


    Particle Generation Tab (may be, or should be random) [this isn’t “realist”, as an example generating matter actually needs 511MeV]:
    40 MeV:
    Iridium ore from Tungsten/Lithium [GregTech]. That is currently a very cheap way to generate Iridium ore, and has to be slightly more expensive if you’re using the GregTech UUM basic config.
    --Nothing here for the time being. To be completed--
    80 MeV: 1 Neutronium out of 2 QuarkCells (and 1 redstone, for differenciation, officialy for "bringing electrons" [yep, this isn't respectful of science ^^])
    120 MeV: 1 Protonium out of 2 QuarkCells


    400 MeV: 1 AntiQuarkCell and 1 QuarkCell. THIS IS NOT EQUAL TO UUM! UUM is actually made out of atoms found in the air/scrap, but not out of nothing except energy. (Well, our machine technically create matter out of energy only but ... to generate enough particles to be collected, you'll need UUM ... 2 UUM can generate 2 AntiQuarkCells and 2 QuarkCells).


    So, what to do with these all new Ultra-expensive products ? There's a lot of stuff to do with!
    Let's go with some examples:
    -Protonium has the amazing ability to link itself with others protonium atoms (this isn't only creating chemical links, but also nuclear !). That's why it can be used as an Almost-Indesctrutible-Metal, as an example for Tier IV Hull (vehicles) and why not, for an awesome armor, even better than Nanites-based armor, gravisuit or whatyouwant!
    -Neutronium can be very useful as a components, but it has also the incredible ability to boost up your Nuclear Reactor! Why ? How ? By sending TONS of neutrons to these Uranium/Plutonium/Thorium/whatyouwant nucleus, that makes us produce 12 times more energy, with only one Neutronium Cell in your Reactor!!! (That will also generate A LOT of Heat, but, who cares ? This is Awesome!)


    AntiQuarkCells and QuarkCells are used to generate Neutronium and Protonium, but also to create some Hayo-ish Energy Storage units (2 AntiQuarkCells, 2 QC, on Lapotron Crystal/something more advanced like a LapotronicEnergyOrb, + 4 Protonium ...)
    Last but not least, AQC and QC could be used as some VERY-Advanced Electrolyzer Cells ... able to store up to 10 0000 EU, stackable ...


    Pay attention to the fact Antimatter and Matter being very expensive/dangerous, cells used to contains it are "ForceFieldCells" wich are a bit more expensive ... except if you consider Steve can carry Lava in its IRON bucket ^^

    I hope I didn't forget anything (from myself ^^). And yes, I used Spoilers ... randomly.

    "The Computer Aided Keratin Edible Device(C.A.K.E. Device for short)".
    The Idea: making a machine that would provide some foods from EU, time. Sadly, it may be possible that the food generated cause you some negative effects (i.e. like rotten flesh, but with small chance, so more like chicken).
    It could also get improved by adding some new components in a slot for the machine, with compatibility for Forestry stuff as an example. Some more expensive components may also be used to makes it act as a potion (but fortunately, getting ores and I don't know what ever is not such a pain than getting Vanilla-Potions components), but it may be random.

    Lol, I already planned an electric Refinery with byproducts. I also plan to make a special Mining Pump Device (mines straight down and only gets Liquids in a large range, like a combination of the BC-Mining-Well and the BC-Pump, but much better working than it).

    I should note, that I see BC-Fuel just as another Name for Diesel, that's why I called it Diesel Cells.

  • While I have suggested this before(I think), I feel it's still worth suggesting.

    The Computer Aided Keratin Edible Device(C.A.K.E. Device for short). Using a small supply of EU, the C.A.K.E. Device will grow various healthy, if sometimes disgusting, foods. Supply low voltage, give it time to work, and BOOM, Tasty Nutritious Edible Food Paste!
    How it works: Basically, it uses a small amount of electric charge to increase the speed of the growth of a Genetically Modified Yeast, which can sustain you, but may cause some debuffs when eaten. If one adds Sugar, it tastes better(restores more hunger), but causes side effects more often. If one adds salt(which one has to find somewhere else, usually from Pams Harvest Craft), it tastes a bit better, but also is less likely to cause side effects(because the salt kills some of the yeast, while still tasting like salt). One can even add various types of juices or nectars to the yeast while it's being made to make it healthier(less negative side effects, and a chance of positive ones as well), but one has to have Forestry for Honey and Apple Juice, and Plugins for Forestry for Melon, Pumpkin, and veggy juices, and when it's implemented, Fruit Juice.
    In theory one could use Living Seed Oil, but that might end poorly(fully random potion effect, can be more powerful then normal potions, and lasts 8 minutes. Good luck.)
    One can use any container to place the liquid in the C.A.K.E. Device, even pipes, but if one uses Pipes, it's obviously harder to make other kinds right away, and one cubic meter of juice is good for 20 units of Food Paste, and with it's 10 liter internal storage... Better off using buckets or cans.

    Oh, and the reason I'm requesting this is because I'm always looking for more ways to feed my character, and a future where the world doesn't eat Genetically Modified Yeast is a weird one not fit for any Cyberpunk Dystopia. And I am always looking for ways to make Minecraft feel more like Shadowrun.
