At a glance, the crash looks like it was caused by something in the audio engine. Which is weird.
Also, you say that OptiFine isn't compatible with newer Forge versions. I've tried 1.7.10_HD_U_B5, HD_U_B7, and HD_B7 all on Forge 1407, and only had an issue with HD_U_B7 in one pack (which went away when I switched to HD_B7).

I was wandering around on /r/feedthebeast and someone brought up that this exists.
I'm wondering why I didn't know about it earlier because even though I am in North America and would encounter demonic lag issues trying to handle any sort of combat, this is an idea I wanted to see a long time ago.

I have some screenshots from the old (now deceased) wiki of the construction of an old GT4 Fusion Reactor. I'm not fully awake enough to explain them all, but with any luck looking at the screenshots will help.
I was actually thinking about the Industrial Grinder a few days ago. Given the machinery of GT5, the I. Grinder feels like a combination of the Universal Macerator and Ore Washing Plant, so with that in mind while it might be easy to implement as a multiblock its recipe system might be a little more complicated.
Hmmmm, since its an official unofficial continuation... I'm not sure how to split up the official from the unofficial content.
I'll talk to the other peeps and figure something out.

Well, that's what RAM is; active program storage for high-speed access. A "RAM Disk" is therefore effectively meaningless.
Higher frequency RAM, SSD in stead of HDD, higher frequency CPU, and overclocking RAM / CPU; those are the 4 ways you could potentially improve load times. Granted, 3 of those 4 require newer hardware, and the 4th is risky, but that's the price of faster loading.
Also, AFAIK FastCraft does attempt to increase initial load speeds. There's only so much optimization mods can do, but having FastCraft goes a long way, particularly with how much heavier 1.7 mod packs are [than 1.6 packs and earlier].
How many Boilers does it take to power an Electric Blast Furnace with Steam?
Answer:
An Electric Blast Furnace, assuming Duct Tape is not available and so not all maintenance can be done, will consume 132EU/t. 132EU/t is a bit less than 5 LV Generators worth of energy. One LV Steam Turbine consumes up to 102L Steam/t to output 32EU/t. So to be safe, an Electric Blast Furnace will consume up to 510L Steam/tick. (Note: These calculations are done with a significant safety margin.)
Boiler options:
*Small Coal Boiler = 6L/t = 85 Boilers (nope.avi)
*HP Coal Boiler = 15L/t = 34 Boilers (somewhat plausible)
*HP Lava Boiler = 30L/t = 17 Boilers (hope you can drain the Nether)
*Large Bronze Boiler = 800L/t = .62 Boilers (how much Charcoal do you have?)

The mod pack itself you can just go and download from the Technic Launcher and test in SSP. The only thing that requires whitelist approval is access to their server.

Having contributed 2 paragraphs, I tried to add a comment and immediately encountered just how utterly infuriating Google's linked account system is. Because if you at any point create an account that has your real name on it, and link any other account to that account, there is no way to un-link the accounts and there is no way to make your real name NOT display on everything you post.
Having my real name thrown around the internet isn't all that much of a problem. The real problem is that there is no similarity at all between my real name and the name that I use for all online interactions, so if I post something as Paladin One, and if I post something else as my real name, there is no way of knowing that those are the same person.
The really infuriating part is that there's no way to un-link linked accounts, and that it's damn near impossible to delete and re-create an account; once an account is created that username stays tied to it even if the account is "deleted".

Putting it more politely, updating a mod to a new Minecraft version is more than simply changing the version number. Particularly with the Minecraft 1.7 update, there's a looooot of things under the hood that need to change for a mod (or Forge or MCP for that matter) to become compatible. (This is why it took Forge and MCP almost 4 months to update to 1.7.)
If player and Thunderdark really want to update to 1.7, and they started on that right now, they might be able to have a build available by the end of the month. But 1) don't quote me on that because I'm not one of them, and 2) that would require them to want to stop everything else they're doing and spend the next 2 weeks doing nothing but updating the IC2 code base to fit 1.7. (And I don't think they really want to do that right now.)

Allow steam tank upgrades be useable on digital tanks to increase the maximum storage.

Steam math for Railcraft changed; Steam math for GregTech has not changed yet. A GregTech Small Coal Boiler produces 6mB Steam/tick, and a High Pressure Steam Boiler produces 15mB Steam/tick, as long as their heat bars are (like 1/4th? idk) full.
Additionally, in the Small Coal / HP Steam Boilers, fuel cost is proportional to heat. Higher heat = lower fuel cost, roughly as per old Railcraft standards.
I would recommend just adding a link from the wiki to this thread. (And another link to your Industrial Efficiency post.)
