Rain is fixed by the morpheus mod, and forestry.

So should we do like a 1 week test, working out the kinks in 1.7 then reset the server on a nice seed (near a mesa, as clay will be swallowed quickly on a server) and go at it for real? That way we can test the TC interactions before its too late.

You could do some sort of Latin naming scheme, say calcator for Macerator, but that would end up simply adding confusion.
You could have a config for better naming, such as SpawnX's suggestions.
You could also have a config for simpler naming:
iBF: That Big-Ass Burny Thing
Macerator: That Crushing Mashing Thing
Recycler: Al Gore's Friend
UUM Machines: Those Gooey Slime-Producing Things -

I had a similar bunch of ideas, but no details. I did not want to clone TFC, so I designed my addon (development halted until GT 5.0) around "more food" feature.
Same here, I don't want to steal from TFC but I love the storage ideas from it
EDIT:
And if anyone wants to debate politics here I will just delete the thread -

MULTI
IndustrialCraft++
Initial Release Checklist [I know it looks like TFC. My implementation and vision are quite different. Plus, this is a very minor part of the mod]:
Remove vanilla chests
Add log piles
Add dust piles
Add ingot piles
Add storage blocks for all items
Add shelving
Add jars/urns
Add Barrels. No, real barrels
Eventually:
Boilers
Pressurized steam pipes
2nd Tier Furnace carts
Modular rails
Multifarms
IC2 Crop expansion
Aluminium Cropsticks
Multiblock generators
Steam Turbines
All IC2/GT machines as multiblocks
Different machine frames
Different Fuels
Rainwater collection
Pneumatic Tube system (like France, not Redpower)
Logging
More food
Multiblock mining operations
Multiblock power storageLore
I have an idea. This idea is where you have a modpack. IC2, with Gregtech around it (for difficulty, ore generation, (1.7) tools, machines, et cetera), and any IC2 addon you like. Then you have Multi. Multi is based off of Gregtech, Forestry, MFR, Railcraft, Ex Nihilo, and Terrafirmacraft. You start off in a world and must fight for survival. Bronze GT machines? You'll be aching for those lightning-quick buggers. Electricity is far, FAR off in the distance.
Multi nerfs chests. Got wood? Place it in a log pile. Charcoal? Coke ovens are late game. For now, bury logs under dirt and set those motherfuckers on fire! Chopping trees is easy... just chop the bottomost block... well except it takes forever. Furnaces are used only for food. And they require iron plates. For early game cooking, you use an open fire. For early game ore smelting you make an open fit, before moving on to a clay "oven" essentially (I'll put in realistic mechanics essentially). Dusts are place-able, and you pile them up. Stockpiling and surviving is the early game.Screenshots
To come.

Goodbye ;( (kirara 1.6 base tour).
Yeah I was starting to like that base, building the greenhouse was fun...
we should kick off my 1.7 LP with us two recording the utter destruction of it. Linus lights the fuse. -
Nice job! Pretty funny, I have been working on an ingame version but this is fucking awesome, nicely done.
-
Some people do, including me.
As do I

Now, what if the things we disable are essential to progression? And if we just let one slip for the progression of TC mess up the whole of GT progression? That is a what if, as I don't know much about TC.
That isn't the issue, as with TC you need one item to get started (thaumometer), and by nerfing that you fix progression.
The issue is when is TC coming and who wants it. -
What exactly has Gradle to do with the time it takes to release the Mods? In my Case you can totally blame Morrowind.
No, not the Kirara mods, my mod. I keep getting a decompForge error, I spent 10 hours trying to fix it and then I just gave up.
-
Ok I am pretty sick and on meds, but reading my last post is pretty rough. Please ignore if it is too garbled
-
Essentially with my mod (FUCK YOU GRADLE FOR MAKING IT SO DAMN LONG) I am trying to help with that vision, so that we don't even need RC or Forestry, as everything will be based around IC2. The only thing I really can't do is Bees/Trees/Butterflies but I think my 3 tier IC2 crop system will come out cool.
Basically reducing the size of the modpack by adding those things we love about the mods we cant live without
-
I think everyone slightly missed the point of TC here. It is an alternative, a fun side project if you will to Gregtech. What we would be doing is nerfing the start so you are forced to progress with GT, then once you get open to full GT power (at which point Thaumcraft loses all purpose as a shortcut), you can fiddle with TC for a bit of fun.
Thaumcraft is well balanced in this setting, as all it provides are items with similar functionality to Gregtech, but a bit prettier, more interesting, and in the case of golems, fun. Gregtech is what we love and will be using for progression but Thaumcraft is one of those things you can decide to pick up as a Technomage ooh what a title. Basically just as a way to have a bit of fun infusing your base with Tech and a hint of magic.
All we have to do is simply nerf the Thaumometer recipe (or something else if someone is violently opposed to that or something) and push TC way back until it is no longer a shortcut.

@mffs
I much prefer what Calclavia has done (why would you hate the guy, that makes literally no sense) with his fantastic models and more unified design approach... but I would not like MFFS on the server, as it serves very little purpose in this peaceful setting and it takes much of the challenge out (with cheap quarries and Cloning abilitites and mob removal and such)
@EE3
I love what Pahimar has done and what he has planned. However, EE3 is simply not balanced for a hardcore technomagic modpack.
Minalien
He posted he was done with MC modding. No more out of him, as with a lot of modders recently. -
And speaking of sir Chickenbones, he is indeed working on his mods as quick as possible, he has been doing so since february. He said that he recently finished the render systems in CodeChickenLib on twitter
-
BA damn you and your reasonable intelligent logic
-
It's Chickenbones we're talking about here. Release date requests just slow it down. Unless modder to modder is different.
Chickenbones has school too, so it could take time.
And Team Helix will have Infused gold crowns. -
Something that could fit into the catagory of fun for shits and giggles, as well as QoL, Enhanced Portals 3 It's already updated for 1.7
Good idea, however I liked the idea of a nether hub rather than instant teleportation...
