Improved Synthetic Diamonds

  • The Current diamond system revilves around using large amounts of coal to make one, measly diamond. However, In the real world, it doesn't work this way. It uses extreme pressure, and heat to make diamonds. the system in place right now uses alot of macerated coal. In order to apply such large amounts of heat, pressure and other things, I suggest something similar to a coke oven or blast furnace to make diamonds. It would use significantly less coal, and no obsidian or flint. Of course, to prevent abuse, this process would take a very long time, and be very expensive to start. Ideally, the entire thing would be 5x5x5, and run on EU. It could be treated as one block, or not, I have no idea how difficult that may be to code. If not, It could be one, single block, just like a compressor or a furnace. It would potentially use advanced machines in it's crafting, looking something like this.
:Electric Furnace: = Furnace, electric or induction
    :Compressor: =compressor, singularity or regular.
    :Recycler: = Mass Fabricator
** it's so obscenely expensive to make sure it's not overtly abused, and requires a long term commitment to pay off.

    :Compressor: :Recycler: :Compressor:
    :Compressor: :Compressor: :Compressor:
:Electric Furnace: :Electric Furnace: :Electric Furnace:

It would have the regular GUI of a machine, but 4 pieces of macerated coal would go into the top, or pure graphite.

It might take a full mincraft day to complete one cycle, or more, Idk. Either way, I think it's a cool idea, and I hope you at least consider it. Thanks.

Here's a few articles on it... Maybe a secret recipe involving IC2 rum?

    Thanks again.

  • This is needlessly complex, by the time that I have a mass fabricator you can bet your ass I will have a MFSU and therefore have found 10+ diamonds, a few of which I make through the current process which I find to be really balanced

Is the answer to this question no?

Hey don't take it so hard. Ignorance is part of this generation it seems. -the wise words of XFmax-o-l

  • game shoud not be overcomplicated and everything shoud be used to max, machine only for something extremely specific is not good.

everything in minecraft world is unlimited, your time - not, making process extremely slowly will kill option.

I was wondering why all the Machinerecipes (Snowball -> Ice, Coalchunk -> Diamond...) have the same amount of Processingtime. I mean shouldnt it take longer for a Coalchunk to be compressed to Diamond, than for MixedMetalIngot to Advanced Alloy?

Just a thought about variable Duration for diffrent Processes.

And is it ever possible to change processing time depending on the item?

    Forestry carpenter got me thinking.

  • This kind of triggers an idea with me, but I already don't like it. "Some compressor recipes need so much energy in one tick that, without upgrades, it can't be done, and make industrial diamond one of these." That'd just make things more complicated, and as higher-tier machines are denied, higher-tier recipes make no sense. After all, we have UUM.

However, if I put UUM in a compressor... I figure it'd be cool if it exploded big time.

  • Making diamond is fine as it is. 1 stack of coal is perfectly enough with the current machines. *kicks physics ass* Herp Derp. I want make diamonds easier to craft cus 64 coal is too much derderder.

That's a rather cool idea, but a lone tree is suspicious, better plant some more. So really... forget about solar-flowers, solar-trees are the next generation :P
