Well, I have searched about "Dark Energy" in the forums and it didn't found any threads about this. Let's begin.

Extreme Voltage is a "hypothetical" tier 4 stage that hasn't been fully utilized yet in IC2. For example, the HV-Transformer can convert EV 2048EU/P into HV 512EU/P, but no other machines (excluding Tranformer upgrades) exist for supporting EV natively. Mass Teleportation exceeds the energy of an MFSU, depending on the formula. So, this idea came out of the blue, so bare with me.

This was meant as a suggestion as a crossover addon, but I guess this can be in the official mod too.

A Dark Energy Crystal is a hypothetical term when using Dark Matter from Equivalent Exchange 2 along with end-game items to make it itself.
    DM Block = :Rubber Trampoline:
    Dark Matter = :Rubber:
    Lapotron Crystal = :Energy Crystal:

There are some other requirements to balance this off though. I added some other suggested items.

This here is the recipe for the Shadow Circuit, which results into a very dark shade of the Advanced Circuit, : :Compressed Coal Ball:

    :Rubber: :Iridium: :Rubber:
:Energy Crystal: :Advanced Circuit: :Energy Crystal:
    :Rubber: :Iridium: :Rubber:

Advanced Machines are not enough for this kind of power, so now we need the Abyss Machine, which results into a very dark shade of it, like above, : :Coal Chunk:

    ... :Iridium: ...
:Rubber Trampoline: :Advanced Machine: :Rubber Trampoline:
    ... :Iridium: ...

Now, the formation of the Dark Energy Crystals is made like this, which results of a black shining color of the Lapotron Crystal, and results in a end-game storage of 1,000,000,000 EU, HAYO!! : :Coalball:

    :Rubber: :Compressed Coal Ball: :Rubber:
    :Rubber: :Energy Crystal: :Rubber:
    :Rubber: :Compressed Coal Ball: :Rubber:

Now, we need a massive-energy unit to power these crystals. That is why the Dark Energy Storage Unit, or DESU, was invented.

    :Coalball: :Compressed Coal Ball: :Coalball:
    :Coalball: :MFS-Unit: :Coalball:
    :Coalball: :Coal Chunk: :Coalball:

This results with a whopping 8,000,000,000 EU, now, no more massive storage arrays of MFSUs! HAYO! :D

This is intended for people who both have IndustrialCraft2 and Equivalent Exchange 2. I hope that one day this idea is implemented as an addon, or a feature of the mod itself! This is also endgame content, so it will be difficult to achieve alone. Any constructive criticism is helpful.

Sadly as soon as 1.5 happens, all Thorium/Plutonium Reactors will be obsolete, as I will switch to another System regarding produced EU (to remove the hack into the IC²-Config). Also I will then nerf Thorium by 50%, and make it less useful for Breeders (as that change reduces Pulse Count). Plutonium however, will be twice as good for Breeders after that change.

    What could this mean?

  • I'm pretty certain that EE integration is not planned any time in the near future, even if it was I think EE3 is coming out pretty soon, also 8,000,000,000 eu! Did I read that right? Can you name one thing that would ever require that much energy under any circumstance whatsoever?

Is the answer to this question no?

  • Teleporters use a lot of energy when you have stuff on. So really, this idea is an option towards people who don't want to build arrays of MFSUs and wouldn't waste more space in the Industrial Compartment. If you hate endgame stuff, then don't bother.

  • Moving 1000 blocks in a teleporter wearing full armor and having a full inventory costs about 3.1 million eu, an mfsu can provide that without needing a recharge 3 times, what you are suggesting would cover that about 2580 times, that seems a little over kill don't you think?

Teleporters are endgame device that require a proper infrastructure backing up, it isn't something that you could made with two blocks, because it is a endgame device.

So if you hate endgame things, then don't bother.

And your suggestion, like everything related with EE is OP, and I don't want it please.

  • As an implementation to the mod itself, yes, as a crossover addon itself, no. However, I think suggesting more ideas that would require Dark Energy, for example, Klein Stars using the EU from Dark Energy, powering a DM Furnace using hypothetical Dark Energy Cables (the equivalent of Glass Fibre, but 2048EU/P), the possibilities are endless.

By the way, the last time I tried using a Teleporter, it completely dried up my fully charged MFSU, maybe because it was Tekkit, idk.

  • Yeah I basically loathe EE in most situations. It can be fun, but it basically throws resource management right out the window, which is what made me like Minecraft from day 1. Definitely makes IC 98% pointless. I mean, wow, you've made electricity in minecraft - what are you going to do with it? Run a macerator? Fuel a jetpack? Make a diamond? Why, when your arrays do all that a thousand times better? I'm pretty sure EE has a teleport too, and if it doesn't, it doesn't matter because you fly at mach 7 anyway.

I use EE once in a while, start a new world, and then get bored 25 minutes later when all my roads are paved with diamond blocks.

  • I'll have to agree with the general theme of this thread. I just don't see the point of this. On my server, our power plant maintenance specialist has devised a method of virtually limitless energy fairly simply on current items. We are able to teleport over 1000 blocks away about 100 times before we need to wait for a recharge. Even then, the recharge only takes a few seconds. This would be complete overkill in my opinion; there's no need whatsoever to have another tier of power generation other than to say you have it. The end benefit would exist, but wouldn't be worth the effort put into it. Not that the recipes are too difficult, but because the system would be far too overpowered in the way of power generation.

Generosity is never bought or sold, neither paid for nor invoiced. It is simply given, and met with gratitude.

  • I have EE for the fact that I can replicate dragon eggs, the mercurial eye, and the volcanite amulet. The collectors aren't as HAYOISH as quarries or duplicators or anything else really, and don't give much output for the cost, unless you just AFK or don't actually constantly burn resources in building projects. EE is fairly UP for my purposes, but can far too easily be exploited to be massively OP.

    2. Go away, you creeper wierdo!
    3. What ever, I'll just go around.
    4. Hup, over their heads I go!
    5. Okay Mister living grenade, I'm going to knock you into those skeletons, and I'll follow through with a nano saber. Understood? FOR THE ALMIGHTLY DRAGON LORD!
