To anyone who is upgrading to 2.0.4.x versions - oregen have changed from the last recommended version, so you might want to regenerate your world. And btw, amazing amount of work. I wish some game companies would have even 1% of that dedication to fix/upgrade their game (Nier Automata cough, cough)...

so far I found two ways to gain max health:
1) 1 heart for destroying cave spider spawner under the tree.
2) 0.5 heart for each time you load you save game

I have found a Knowledge Note (I think this is from HardcoreEnderExpansion) in a chest (with Witch spawner) with 0 Knowledge points in 18.104.22.168pre3. Is that normal? If it is - it is kind of useless. Just letting you know DreamMasterXXL.
edit: It seems to be my mistake - for some reason my config folder was too different from upstream.
Is there any way to just reset the entire quest log? I'd be fine with doing that since I'm really not all that far along. Otherwise it's not breaking the game so far and I'm still able to complete other quests along the progression line. The lava bucket thing on the other hand is making it really hard to manage my smeltery since I haven't got any pipe/pump setup yet.
You can probably delete QuestProgress.json (in your save directory) and that should restart your progress from zero. But I have not tried it myself. But please note: that file contains everyones progress. If you are running MP server everyone will have to redo their quests.
Edit: and about lava - you can take the lava tank itself to your lava source. Or even create multiple lava tanks. They can hold 4 buckets. This way you can transport a lot of lava per run. And you can safely break your smeltery as long you do not break Smeltery Controller block.
I am also having the random quest unlock problems. A few are in the novice thaumcraft quests, and another in the 32 EU quest section.
About random quest unlock - this has happened to me after minecraft crashed while trying to open save file. I fixed this problem by restoring QuestProgress.json from the backup I have made. Yes, I lost some quests because backup was not most recent, but then I just entered cheating mod and quickly did quest that I already did.
So, I would recommend creating a backup of "save" directory after you successfully exit the game without any visible crashes/errors.
Drying rack quest is not possible to complete (in 22.214.171.124pre2). It requires "damage: 5" version of drying rack, but I can only craft normal drying rack. NEI shows that "damage: 5" version can be crafted, but for some reason it just crafts normal version.
Some feedback for new version:
"Floury" quest cannot be completed until you get macerator. For some reason you cannot craft GT version of flour with Mortar tool even if you can see the recipe in NEI. It crafts Pam's Harvestcraft flour instead, which is not usable for this quest.Quote

You can find casseterite veins y55 wich is tin too. Not tin is a problem in this pack it is copper.
The problem in this modpack is lead. Have found 8 copper veins and zero molybdenum viens in Nether. And vertical digging seems very hard because of all the lava.
Hey, I so far love the modpack you have created. However, I'm having trouble finding tin. I understand that typically it's hard to find and that there are methods to finding it. I have dug the 2x1 hole and searched for mountains 1000s of blocks away from by base and have yet to find any. I would really like to advance in this pack but so far all I have done is look for tin for days. I am wondering if there was a way to change the config to change generation back to the vanilla spawn system. IDK if it is an option to use custom ore generation to change it as i'm not sure if it would mess up the way you have certain ores spawn on different dimenstions.
You do not need to go to mountains. There is some sort of "Casseterite Sand" (with id = 937) that spawns at low height. If you look at WorldGeneration.cfg - it spawns at:
So you only need to dig like 10-20 blocks down (no point digging below y=50) and then try another spot 50 blocks away. You can find it very quickly this way.
Veins are not that rare:
Dig 2x1 holes straight down and use material that you mined to get back up. You can also use plants that act like ladders to get back up (if you have shears).
Place those holes at 40-50 blocks distance between each other.
Most of the time you will find an ore vein per hole you dug up.
The idea get single items like charcoal, food and maybe single dust or ingots are a Good idea. Get a bag only from xp isn't a good idea better get some leather or wool and cotton to make it.
Maybe true. I have suggested this because I reached lvl 70 before building electric blast furnace. Simply by farming cows, blue slimes (for resin production) and by burning items in a furnace. It was kind of disappointing to see all that xp with nothing to use it for. Until I died lol
Not so far I know. Open blocks elevator blocks using exp but I think that is on tier 3. suggest how we can use exp earlier and I could implement it.
The most needed things at the beginning of the game are food, extra inventory slots, torches and energy. So a machine (or repeatable quest) that can trade XP for those items is a good start. And this would make dungeon exploration viable early game strategy (unless it is intended as end game stuff).
2 level = 1 charcoal.
3 levels = 1 random food.
40+ level = some bag with extra inventory slots. Should not be easy to get and maybe only limited number of times.
Basically, once you have the technology to make those things then wasting XP on them would make little sense.
Is there any usage for experience points at the beginning of the game (before Tier3)?
prove it, by providing an example of how you get an iron pickaxe head without creeper bombing or exploring dungeons.
You can get iron by:
1) Placing torch bellow "iron gravel", it will drop down on torch and you can collect it and smelt it in furnace - easiest method.
2) Creating a bronze pickaxe in smeltery, leveling it up and mining iron ore.
3) Skipping bronze tools and creating alumite tools in smeltery instead. It requires aluminium, iron and obsidian. Aluminium is easy to find on the ground. Iron and obsidian cam be found in a workshop chest inside a village, which are pretty common (sometimes village will have as much as 3 workshops).
4) Exploring a lot, collecting iron stuff, such as rails, cauldrons, iron carts, iron armors and vanilla iron tools. Throw all that stuff in a smeltery and you will have a stack of iron without the need for tools that can mine iron. And you don't need to go to a dungeon to find iron stuff - villages and other worldgen structures on the ground will have them.
5) Zombies rarely drops iron ingots. You can create a trap by placing quicksand around a mob spawner - no technology required, but you need to land at least one hit for them to drop their rare loot IIRC. And it will probably require torches, which you can get by finding coal in a village.
Tip about early smeltery: find a village with unfinished smeltery. Collect it. Create a little bit of grout for smeltery controller, lava tank and sink. Place smeltery near lava - you will have to either dig underground, or perhaps a village will have some lava in a blacksmith house. Use clay bucket to transport lava - you will take a lot of damage, but since smeltery is close to lava it is doable.
When I play this pack I usually have alumite tools before I reach that quests that asks to trade 256 stones for iron pickaxe, lol
What do these "New Quests" do?
They have simply appeared one of the times when I started my single player game (I am playing at LV tier currently) and they have empty description. They have Nether Star symbol and have completed status. There is about 5 of them now. For example:
I also received "The final goal" quest with completed status. It rewarded me with Zero Point Module for just starting my game as usual, lol.
And, if I am not mistaken, a couple of new quest tab appeared that were not there previously (like "They are coming...").
Is this a bug or is this normal?
Edit: In "how to bee" tab I received "Top-Tier analyser" quest with completed status and no reward. It also has nether star symbol like "New Quest".
Edit2: I have modified my game it a little bit: I am using MapWritter instead of JourneyMap (have removed JourneyMap). I am also using inventorytweaks mod, so that I can sort my inventory and chests. Other than that it should be the same as latest version in Technic Launcher.
I encountered King Slime and he dropped King Slime Lumber Axe. This axe can chop down huge trees with a single chop. It outperform any other lumber tools as far as I know, because you can get like 10x64 wood per single swing (if you planted trees close to each other)...

It maybe possible that room temperature superconductor could be metallic form of hydrogen (when hydrogen is compressed hard enough). Just an idea for gregtech.
I am sorry, this is my mistake. Quest states different thing:
"Lignite and regular coal is the fuel source you'll definitely need; as the latter can be turned into coke, which is a superior than coal to... well, you know this already..."
"Latter" means normal coal, not lignite.
How can I turn lignite coal into coke? Quest ("Another fuel source") states that I can do this, but NEI shows no such Lignite -> Coke recipe. Putting Lignite Coal inside Coke Oven does nothing (cannot put it inside).
