I could see a few world-gen less mod being added to K4 and his brother. But not much more. Any ideas ?

This is what I would like as far as Worldgen go. (Except for the rocks. Those are from my mod and it's incomplete as well as laggy as all hell.)
I intend to pregen a rather large area of land, which you should avoid crossing... It won't kill anyone but will cause lags if done by 2 people, or much faster than walking. Sorta like pfaa.
However once pregenned is silky smooth and has some interesting landscapes. My mod would get replaced by UB Stones + GT Oregen I'd tweak to use the new heights. Greg, if you wanna help, that'd be amazing.
As for the other servers...
Realistically, one of them would have to close. I keep on thinking about it but the only real solution I see about this is... either to plain scrap one and make it available for download, by region prefferably so you can take only yours should you want that. I could also alsways transfer them to the server that would remain last. However I know no other way to do this than to paste regions where they don't belong, in another world. And that's ugly. Your call. Also, K4 will probably be the longest staying server from now on.
We've been talking a lot on the IRC recently and while we are doing good progress, I need to draw the line somewhere and I doubt I can please everyone this way. The server will be focused on survival for the early game and tech as the game progresses. I will tweak some recipes to be more GT-like. I have shittons of recipes already I will just need to adjust as time goes by. (I keep on telling people that, but really... It does cover lots of stuff. ;P) It just depends on how much you allow me to change. Your opinions are always appreciated. I will start building a modlist as well. It will start smaller than will grow. What we need down right now is the world-gen. Everything that generates into chests as well is world gen. Beehives. Plants. Anything. Railcraft for the villages and stuff. Since I think I have a pretty solid idea of which world-gen mod to include except maybe only one which I'd consider extra right now, I could start generating the world in a week or so I suppose. Time to tweak the ores, make the definitive list (Should I draw the line myself right now ?), generate as large as is not idiotic to do... And I think we could have a test server running by in a week.
So tell me what you think of the screenshots and tell me wether or not to choose right now the basic modset. (Should be a bit bigger than other K servers at most.)

Display MoreThis post concerns the "Hardcore Kirara 3.0" server.
I suggested the creation of a Custom NPCs village with daily quests, shops, a lottery, a healer, a tavern where you can sleep, etc.
Since I'll be the one building it, I can assure you all of this will be balanced accordingly. Quests won't make mining obsolete, and shops won't make trading between players useless.
Also, in case you got the wrong idea, the currency will be either GT coins or Custom NPC coins, which will only be obtainable by questing or trading between players.
I might add ways to trade mob drops for said coins, too.

Keep in mind that this village is a secondary feature and you can ignore it completely if you wish.
Since Kirara seem not to be very fond of towns as far as I can see, I think this could be a neat idea. Either it would make the town actually viable/frequented, or it would just make a nice spawn point for new players. Being greeted by a few npcs must be pretty nice. Also remember it's gonna be more of an early game thing. To help you with the cruel lack of food and things like that.
While I could def. play without, I think it would complete the survival aspect of the game. Because trust me, it's gonna get harsh at first.
EDIT : I'm making my own thread now, invultri. Thanks for letting my use this one for a while while sorting things out.
And yes... I will include ATG on a test server. I will pre-gen this world as well so I think it could be fine. We will see. As for everyone, thanks for commenting. I will make one final spreadsheet along with one new thread later in the day.
Does it generate Veins inside those huge Mountains? Because that would be awesome.
The mod I'm building relies on ATG and COG to place them realistically within those mountains. You can actually see the deep oceanic tectonic plates (Basalt) going under the sides of continents and mountains, being presumably volcanic hosts a lot of mineral, way up high and way deep within' mountains as well. Will also come to rely on GT for the complex processing of rocks and minerals. If you like PFAA and think that would be nice. Perhaps someday I can show you so you can laugh at my noobish code ? ;P
I allways wanted to make a modpack with hardcore darkness and without forever working light sources. So torches burning down, no light from Lava+Glowstone and only powered light besides that.

RWG is not REALLY up for discussion, unless everyone hates ATG. I also have really nice configs for ATG+BOP.
While I'm at it, ATG isn't really up for discussion either. I will try it unless everyone hates it, once again. I fear the worst, however...
EDIT : Just tell me what you think of ATG. That would be most helpful right now. Also consider fallback options. While I do prefer BOP, I wouldn't mind using EBXL, since so far, people seem to favor it.

Here's how I see things right now :
K Basic - Basically K4 will move there. I think it's already a nice pack. Leaving some space for the others. While not too big, I think it's complete enough.
K Basic II - Another server strongly ressembling the first one. Probably identical in fact, so we could use qCraft portals.
K Hardcore - This will be the server we're sorta arguing about right now. When I say over 100 mods, I mean pretty much 100 mods. Say between 80 and 110, depending on size of mods and how much "mods slots" said mods occupy. Some occupy as much as 10 slots, then there's dependencies... What brings servers to their knees is World-Gen. 100 mods without world-gen mods is at least 20 times as easy to run as ATG+PFAA and no other mods. It's not about limiting the number of mods, but rather choosing intelligently. I would like to have very little or no magic. Not that I don't like the mod, but this is a GT-Focused server and TC already offers us the opportunity to automate anything with golems on 3/4 servers. I think this' enough.
K Vintage - This would hold the remaining Kirara 2.0 server with Bloody Asp's port. It will remain for as long as there are (semi-)active players. Don't worry.
Well the playerbase was kinda split with K1-3, but I see how that could be annoying. Maybe we should work towards 3 servers instead of 4?
You read my mind, sir. I think 4 servers is overkill as well. 3 servers should be plenty for the player base and you'd actually get more people per server meaning having no qCraft portal would be less of a problem.
I would vote for option 3, though really, I am only interested in a hardmode, tech-only server, and I think splitting the player base may not be a good thing. I would like to keep the current K4 server around as long as possible though. I like my base there and I don't want to have to rebuild it. perhaps we could do a machine-reset, since IC2 machines were enabled accidentally, remove all the machines and compensate people for them. that way nobody has an unfair advantage.
Unless Greg implements something that would require a restart to be able to complete the game, K4 will pretty much be the light server, which I will start referring to as Kirara - Basic.

-Qcraft. Yes you stated that it would possibly be a NO, but I would like to have this just for server linking, it is more convenient not creating a new stuff for each server and being able to trade ressources from others. We have IC2 teleporters, I'll only use them in the future. And if we ever have GC, we can still use it's own low range teleporter.

Not sure I get you there. ;P You had the position and I figure you had it for a reason. Unless you start making trouble or abuse the OP functions, like doing stuff that would affect other players, then I see no reason to revoke that... At all.
3-4 massively different servers would make qCraft portals unusable. It's not because I don't want them or think they're worthless, they're just gonna get unusable.
About the mod suggestions... GalactiCraft will be on the largest server if people agree. Powersuit mod would as well. Once I've nerfed it so bad even you'd cry, though. ;] 'Cause yeah... MPS is really powerful.
AE Quartz Wrench hmm... Why is it disabled in the first place ? And admin anchor, sadly, that would be a no. Free chunkloading is not fun to me, and will make the server laggy once people quit and leave them behind. So, agreed with everything, but the admin anchor.
If you do choose to add a biome mod, I like EBXL more as BoP really feels bloated now and you can actually find vanilla biomes with it installed.
I'll one-up you and say highlands
EBXL still feels like it has loads of repeating biomes. I really like Highlands, but that may just be me.

To both of you : I much, much prefer BOP. While it is a bit heavier (Read : A tiny bit.) for the server, it feels much more alive. More grass, more plants, more trees, more biomes, etc... I'll take some screenies later so people can compare better. If nobody agrees with BOP (I feel it has something to do with its popularity.) then EBXL would be my second choice as it's much lighter, even more than Highlands which in my opinion looks like a mountainous vanilla wrapped in sadness. (Hahaha, wonder if someone will get that reference. ;P)

I agree with that. I mean GT6 is far from complete so being more "feature-complete" ain't that hard, but I really enjoy the complexity of the mod. Depending on if K4 evolves to be the middle server or if it stays the small one, the smaller one might not have it featured. However, all other servers would.

What I think should happen, as of right now. (Meaning at a point where I DO NOT have everybody's opinion, so things WILL change.)
1st server I'll start referring to as Kirara - Basic. It will basically be K4. Lightly modded, very little tweaks. 30-40 mods. This one shouldn't take too much of my time and should fit GT purists and should accomodate people with weaker computers. World gen will stay vanilla, of course. I would not have included TC honestly, but since it's already there and most of the world is built upon it, it has to stay. Modlist should stay basically the same, give or take a few.
2nd server I'll start referring to as Kirara - Extended. This server will be brand new and will replace one of Kirara 2.0 servers. More mods to liven up the experience. Around 60-70 should be plenty if we choose them carefully allowing us to have an all-around solid tech modpack. I think having BOP or EBXL in here would be beneficial. Depending on what the last server has, I think this could be a nice spot for EBXL. Unless everybody think they need ThaumCraft (Because you know. -CENSORED-) I wouldn't include it. While it IS a great mod, it breaks the balance of the game. GT is meant to be hard, complex and a tad grindy, ThaumCraft on the other hand, once you get used to it, give you access to bunch of stuff you'd usually have to pay much more for, such as easy automation with golems. Possible modlist will come later and should somewhat look like Pyrolusite's list, without Enviromine, as I'd keep that for the last server. All in all, slightly bigger, sorta middleground between Basic and Hardcore, tech-only server. I feel this might be the more popular of the servers.
3rd server I'll start referring to as Kirara - Hardcore. Another brand new server that would replace another Kirara 2.0 server. This one would probably come last as it is gonna take more work. If you haven't seen my other server's thread this would end up being somewhat similar without the magic touch the other one had as magic mods are basically impossible to balance against tech mods. Meaning this server would have all the tech mods of Extended, maybe a few more and would include an assortment of mods to make your life a nightmare. While it is challenging, I swear it's fun. This server would end up at around 100 mods. Possible modlist will come later. World-gen, if server doesn't explode on contact could feature ATG+BOP for worldgen because well, it looks absolutely stunning. While it IS really hard on the server, it is still slightly lighter than UB+PFAA so it shouldn't be a problem... But we'll see. What I would really like about this server is if you could leave it up to me. I've been making modpacks for 3 years now and I think I do have a really good idea where this should be heading. I would still consult people every now and then, but I'd like to get the last word for this one. Suggestions are always welcome though. EDIT : I'd like to tweak recipes to hell if you allow me to. I've already got plenty of recipes for a variety of mods, but keep the suggestions coming !
4th server would be temporary. It would be the GT5 server. Once everybody's done with it, it would silently get removed. As all other servers, people will be able to download the whole thing and modlist for a while. This would not spawn another Kirara 3.0 server, bringing down the number of servers to 3. I still don't know which one will stand last. That you will decide.
5th server, currently known as Kirara Test would close as well. If you wanna test stuff in creative, do it in SSP. Doesn't take longer and would help the server a tiny, tiny bit.

GT5 Unofficial is quite stable. I do not know of world crashing bugs and only some high end stuff i added is slightly misbehaving.
Should you plan to update regualry, changing over to it now should be fine. A fully stable version should be reached in a few weeks. I personaly want to see it on Kirara.
About the options, the third sounds the best, but to me it seems allmost a bit too much work. Maybe limit that idea a bit, so you do not overwork yourself.
Option one, keeping a single server running for really looong also sounds good.
So a midway? Slowly reducing GT5 servers to 1 once GT6 is good. K4 updating but no big mod changes. Then somewhere in the future 1-2 new GT6 Server that only start once there is a Endgame.
I like the idea of going midway, since they were both my most favored choices.
So far, I think this sounds most promising.
Although the work is not a real problem. I do this for fun and get 4-5 free days a week currently. Of course this will be les once I go back to school (Though it's all at home, so still plenty of time...).
So yeah. Listen to Bloody. This could be a very viable option. Having one Kirara 2.0, and three Kirara 3.0 of various sizes. Both GT5 server and K1 would be little work, so I ain't against it.

I will make a new thread soon SpwnX, don't you worry. I'll wait a week or two 'till dust settles down then I will make a new thread.
It's also probably at this time that Kirara 3.0 will become the main server and other servers will -slowly- get shutdown. (Starting by the least frequented, which seems to be K3. If I'm wrong, please tell me.)
I should close the first server in the following weeks, if it does close, however I will keep a backup of the world and mod files available for download for a while. If you want this piece of history, you'll be able to get it. ;]
Other servers will last for a while still as I still have no intention on closing them soon. I see people on K1 and K2 once in a while, and since GT6 still ain't what GT5 was, I think it'd be detrimental to the server to close more than one soon.
What will happen afterwards is still somewhat unclear. Here are a few options I thought about :
- Keep one GT5 server forever, possibly moving the biggest, baddest (sic) bases Kirara 2.0 have to offer on a single server. I still ain't sure how that would happen, but I can be pretty imaginative, trust me. Then 2 other servers, which would be known as Kirara 3.0 would be the main attraction for a real long time. The last server would either be the beefier one I mentionned or would be the third Kirara 3.0, depending on what people think about this. Then it'd still be possible to phase out the GT5 server if nobody's interested in it anymore, still allowing you all to download the map and mods should you want that.
- Make all servers Kirara 3.0. This would be the logical way to proceed should few people be interested in more mods or in the GT5 servers. Not my favorite way to proceed, but if it's what you all want, well it's what it's gonna be. Once again, all old maps would be available for download for a short time as well along with the modset.
- Third option would require me to give tons of time to Kirara, but if you are all interested, I think this could be a really nice plan. We could have 4 completely different servers, or rather progressively bigger packs. K1 would remain like Kirara 2.0 was, maybe even slightly smaller. (Removing ThaumCraft would make it more GT-focused and pretty much lagless, not hindering the other servers.) K2 would be slightly bigger, adding a few mods to liven up the experience. (Probably adding that touch of magic K1 would lack and a few useful mods.) K3 would be pretty much the middle ground between K1 and K4 being not too big but still very complete. World-gen of those three servers would most likely be vanilla. Only third server could use EBXL (Less laggy.) or BOP (Slightly more laggy but prettier, in my opinion.) as they ain't bad at all once pre-genned. K4 would be my thing. "Much" bigger than the other three with very little magic (We'd have K2 and K3 for that.) and probably fancy worldgen. This would be the most resource-hungry server and for this reason would require stricter rules to avoid lagging the whole place. The downside to this is you could -not- travel from one place to the next via qCraft portals. You'd have to close the instance and boot another one should you want to go take a peek on the other servers. This would be my preferred (Spelling ?) way, even considering it's at least 3 times the work.
- Last option would be to keep things as they are for as long as possible. However I think as soon as GT6 gets something real nice, K4 would become a clusterfuck of people in a matter of days and we'd have 3 dead servers. This would be my least preferred way, but it could work for a while, I guess.
So here's when you come into play. I want the opinion of aaaas many people as possible. Here are a few things you should note when forming your opinion :
- While I do have VETO sorta like invultri had, I'd rather make you all choose... But you better choose what I've chosen ! Haha. ;]
- I can make MTweaker recipes should you want a more balanced/GT-focused experience. Already got a BUNCH of scripts and willing to make more.
- I will carefully read and weight each opinion. Most likely the majority will win, though.
- While I HATE having to close servers, GT5 will get older by the day and you must realise that at a point or another they will close.
- I don't wanna rush into this. Not at all. I'm going to spend time collecting opinions, then will evaluate the situation, then will get ready, THEN will make changes. This could take as little as 2-3 weeks depending on you or as much as... Well, a really long time.
Wow. Sorry about the long post. I've been asked many questions already and I wanted to sorta put my ideas somewhere. Hopefully we can find something that pleases (mostly) everybody.
TL;DR : I'm going to make changes. Probably. However it all depends on you. Leave your opinion in here, it's how you can best help me right now. Also, I don't wanna rush into this. Don't expect to see changes by tomorrow, or even next week. Except updates. ;]

That's is interesting. Can't comment situation somehow, but Arch is a really nice man and I hope that Kirara will live for a long time.

However I will look at the mod. Probably won't be in the GT6 pack I start making though. But I figure it might fit well as pipes after those of GT for the GT5 pack. Bet they've got insane throughput eh ?
