    huh, nicely done. I sorta went nuclear myself.
    built an ice CAUSC and a startup/shutoff system using buildcraft gates and redpower2 stuff.
    the MFSUs emit if full and the gates emit if empty. both of those feed a latch (all 4 on == signal sent) which toggles the state of the reactor. All 4 MFSUs feed into a central one inside to keep it topped up.


    the 128 solar panel worth I had on the base then just got stuck on the mass fab with the other 128 worth (compact solars addon)


    because nearly every other mod is at 1.2.5 and they have some fantastic new features, this is one of a few that isnt/hasnt been updated. given that most 1.2.4 mods work against all reason on 1.2.5 its logical to attempt it on ic2, it may not be as major as redpower or as important as buildcraft but ic2 is considered a core mod by many (myself included) and while we could just refresh this page every hour in the vain hope an ic2 developer will throw us a scrap of info as to why 1.2.5 version has been so majorly delayed or even why anyone that dares ask for an eta is hit with the ban hammer, its much more constructive to attempt to get the old 1.2.4 version working on 1.2.5.


    except "most 1.2.4 mods" don't work on 1.2.5 if they used forge due to the MAJOR change due to the removal of the ModloaderMP requirement.


    either way i'm sure there's quite a few that are still on 1.2.3 due to waiting for redpower. Still, it's not that huge a loss anyway, the changes between 1.2.3 and 1.2.5 were mostly bugfixes. (and I think even then they were mostly SMP ones)

    The problem is that the Reactor is NOT SAVING the Redstonecurrent applied to it (since ever) that means only if you Redstoneupdate the Reactor after chunkloading you will be able to stop the explosion. And its ever good to build all in a single Chunk.


    Actually i'm never shutting down the Waterbucketcoolantsystem even if the Reactor is Offline, because of that bug.


    Moment i got a good Idea, with a Computercraft-Startupfile i can detect Chunkloading and so RS-Update the Reactor, again thanks for inspiration.


    dingdingding. I actually never shut off the cooling system on any CASUC anymore. The redpower tubes are smart enough to only dump out ice when it's needed.

    Once upon a time Forge was there to make mods compatible and play well together.


    Those days are gone now. Bring on the days of make a decision to use a mod based solely on a developers decision to join the borg or not.


    This is not a good thing. put in a wrapper. Choice = good. Demands of do it our way or else = bad for everyone involved.

    Minecraft Forge still does what it's originally intended to do: it does a *great* job at enabling folks to run mods that otherwise wouldn't run together at all.

    could have been anything from randomly not liking you to someone being in the area and loading up the chunk with the reactor but not the cooling system.


    if you have the teleport pipes buildcraft addon blanketing the reactor and ice creation system with chunkloader blocks to keep the whole thing loaded (check it with f9) may help.


    It's been stated in many places that forge v3 does not need modloadermp and will not run with it at all.

    If you enter the nether in SMP with your quantum boots try to hyperjump. you will fly extremely high and with high speed uncontrolled and the boots don't absorb fall damage. the bug presists in the normal world you have to relog for it to be gone :wacko:
    Just me? those troll boots killed me and my friend in my server. he lost his quantum helmet and lappack too because he crashed somewhere in the jungle.
    Anyone encountered this bug ?

    I have used Portal Gun + Wireless Redstone in the past and the combo works wonders. I would use it again, but I'm waiting on Chickenbones' WR mod and RP at the moment, I am interested in seeing how Portal Gun works with WRCBE. (What annoys me a bit is that you are limited to the 3 guns (I think it's three, I haven't check the thread in sometime))

    Heh, sounds like you have some actual design skill then, not my habit of building boxes, be them above ground or below ground.
    aka: the initial building (usually 11x11) gets built out of wood and from there I go underground, building large boxes to suit. Once in a while i'll upgrade the shack to concrete so a random creeper doesn't cause havock.

    1: it's already been suggested in the past.
    2: Not Enough Items (at least for 1.81, likely for the 1.2.5 release as well whenever that happens) can already spawn full lapotron crystals.
    3: if not that then you can already spawn lava cells to stick in geothermal generators.


    aka: you already have what you need, just look around some.

    You are most welcome, sir! And if you do end up using Portal Gun, I recommend getting Wireless Redstone as well. A Receiver under a Portal Spawner with the Remote addon for WR really works wonders if you're lost and away from home. If you're lost and at home, how the hell did you get lost!?

    yeah, I hardly use the portal stuff but I keep it around for just that. keep a wireless remote around to pulse the portal spawner at base if I ever get lost.
    Also have a second one at the portal to The End for ease of travel. It's far enough away that i'm almost certain a IC2 teleporter wouldn't work.

    The two differences between the Quantum Suit and Canned Food is that the Quantum Suit is THE endgame, and Canned Food is early-midgame
    However, making the Canned Food more like fuels is a good idea. Just don't nerf Quantum. There are enough people who want to nerf it, mainly because they don't have one :p


    Yeah, some of us are annoyed at the food system and the constant need to carry food around. I for one love the q-suit's feeding ability.

    Blatant cheating much? Yeesh.. large parts of EE aren't too bad but I draw the line at energy collectors. Those things are horribly broken.


    could have just as easily done a charcoal fueled generator with a peat bog and tree farm as well. Peat bog to provide peat for the engines that power all three farms and the tree farm to make charcoal. Requires enough power to burn a log or two but one that's done there's a nice power surplus.


    also note that combustion engines are dead simple to manage with gates in 3.x SSP. Even a basic gate can be told to output a redstone signal on the "engine safe" condition.
    I've got a set of 3 that responds to a red pipe signal that's activated indirectly by a lever. Works great, zero explosions.

    Using scrap is not sustainable. Making 57 stacks of material (108 UU-matter's worth) is not easy nor is it quick.

    wanna bet? there's two easy ways to make scrap sustainable.
    Note a *lot* of people have Buildcraft, Redpower or both installed along side Industrialcraft. There's ways of making a cobble gen in both BC and RP2. Granted the Redpower one is much easier and quicker though.
