I have a situation where the fluid ejector upgrade is behaving diffrently in two diffrent setups and i can't figure out whats going on.

    1st setup
setup: 8 ore washer in a row.. all with fluid ejectors and a pump at one end..
result i am getting: entire line fills up and keeps getting refilled.

    2nd setup
setup: 4 ore washers in a row.. all with fluid ejectors and a pump at one end..
result i am getting: is water in washer 1, sometimes 2, if i remove the ejector from 3 it will fill up but when i put it back it stops.

suspected issues, the ejector upgrades don't consider ALL possable outputs!
they don't check left side if right side has a option to put water in.

anyone else seeing this issue as much as me? or is there something i am not understanding?

I tried this with the build I'm using (#645), and it seems to work (idk whether it worked in the build that first introduced the blast furnace), except that the refined iron ingots can end up in the compressor's input - I checked the compressor recipes via NEI, and apparently the compressor can convert 9 refined iron ingots into a refined iron block, which seems redundant since I can do that at a crafting table for 0 EU cost, but if I make just over 2 stacks of empty cells, I should be able to leave a few in the compressor's input thereby preventing it from accepting refined iron ingots ejected from the blast furnace.

Chocohead  crafteric2 as of build 645, the ash from the solid heat generator hasn't been added to the default recycler blacklist, so putting it in a recycler might be slightly better than throwing it onto a cactus or into lava.

i know i made the suggestion for the compressor to accept items and make blocks :/ its easier imho less thinking lol :)

Then you done something wrong. you can make superheated steam in the steam generator and connect 2 turbines together and add a kinetic generator to every turbine. so you get 300 EU/t with 400 HU/t

can you show how thats done in vanilla IC2?

I guess you could use the ejector upgrade as "send to first valid side" when on two sides there are two ore washers.

hmm did not think of that.. but.. getting water to each of them automatically is hard. a line of 8 washers will fill from one pump but you can't interupt it. unless the macerator can pass water through it :)

or do the washers on top and bottom and 2 lines of sorting machines.. but that leaves the problem of thermal centerfuges and there is no overflow for them ( stone dust and tiny specs can't pass through them? )

if the item buffer worked smarter it would be good ( i know i am missing the point of this device) right now if i use a item buffer with a ejector and a electronic sorter they fight on sending items to each other and wont send to a macerator at the other end of a item buffer.

Item buffers seem to have no point in existing as well.. it goes into one.. and prefers to go out the same way it came.. so it can't access as a tube/shuttle

maybe i just need to bite the bullet and install buildcraft? but i feel 2 things this is a fundemental problem that needs fixing witht he electornic sorters.. and i don't feel buildcraft has it better... or does it?

yeah, 10s per ore, but you get 2xmacerated ore, so 5 seconds per macerated ore.

my tip: use twice as much washing plants to compensate or use hopper and a chest ontop to compensate big amaouts of backup. :D

sadly you can't .. the sorting systems can go up down left right backwards forwards.. there is no send to two outputs equal option, or a hey this one is full send to the other one as overflow ( this would be acceptable as well)

Or simply enjoy some overclocking to match the time.

then it uses like 655.36% power and thats 209.7 eu/t which is alot each and would be doable but annoyingly so... and thent he thermal centerfuges would have to be done as well to go to that speed and they use 128 eu/t which would be 838.8 eu/t which gets silly

So i am trying to setup a factory i like.. and find that my OCD is preventing me from setting things up

    1. electronic sorters can't have multiple outs IE Ideal would be if you have 2 sorters sending 1 item down it would know to keep the two blanced 1 in each or one then the other.

    2. macerators take 10 seconds to run.. if it took 2x as long this would not be a issue, but because its in essence 5 seconds per ore ( 1 cycle = 10 seconds) you will get a backup unless you use alot of power with upgrades.

solution.. have macerators take 2x as long and balanced.. or make electronic sorters smarter for balancing loads.

is there a config option to change the speed or can the sorters be given more brains?

It can only break bedrock next to it, so all it is is really just a bedrock flattener, since it can't break the bottom layer into the void.

all right .. did not know there was a firm layer that can't be reached :)

    Looks great :D

But now that the recipe for the lava-water changer uses lapotrons, surely it should hold as much as those lapotrons :P

i would say make it use just energy crystals and instead of iron casing use one of the handles for the other tools

I would hope that this causes water to evaporate in the nether and uses more energy then lava would make in a geothermal generator ( to prevent infinite low cost energy)

The cable upgrade tool needs to be a end game item I would say use 2 laptrop crystals and take out the 2 lowest transformer and put in a mass fabricator and replicator? and if it can be setup to use scrap ( like a bow can use arrows) from inventory ( what i am saying is it needs balance and to be a great cost since glass fibre cable is 120ish UU matter to make)

For piping and so you dont need oil at all. Only for higher tier automatization (with gates and so) you need lasers to create them, and then you need good source of BC power. The best is combustion engine with fuel, but you can power it (and everything else in BC)also only with stirling engines with coal or lava, that will be less efective, but you can do it without remaking the world.

And always you can go explore new chunks to get oil. Then it is on you if you can use some transportation system (long pipes, a lot of buckets, rails etc) or you can make some teleport devices and just have second base for mining oil. :)

true a teleporter option would work.. will have to look into that.. and as i understand that option keeps a chunk loaded in memory though?

If a quick google and forum search doesn't turn up information I need on the first fecking page, I am going to ask on a forum. If I'm feeling particularly shy, I might spam spwnx a personal message instead. No I am not going to read two thousand pages of a thread. No, I won't even read 4 pages of a thread unless I know for sure my info is buried in there.

IC2 and particularly GregTech change fast enough that an awful lot of the "useful" information floating around out there is half-useless by now anyway. Wikis cannot keep up. Fortunately, this is a forum , where people gather and discuss current issues. If you don't like hearing repeated discussions, then sorry, but it just sucks to be you. Go discuss it with your shrink and see if you can work it out.

Hell, I might ask today and forget 3 months from now. I will ASK AGAIN. Too bad for anyone who hates that. Fortunately the majority of the community recognizes this as a community affair and not just a knowledge repository.

bravo!!! and this ends this! if you have issues with a forum being a place to ask when info can't be trusted .... leave!

I'm not sure that really justifies it taking an entire minecraft day to produce 4 refined iron ingots in one of them, but on the other hand, by the time I have enough energy production (e.g. nuclear reactor(s) and/or Radioisotope Thermal Generators) to consider adding overclocker upgrades to my other machines, I should easily be able to build and run several blast furnaces in parallel. I might have been trying to build advanced solar panels too early, and I hadn't noticed the addition of the RTGs (which now that I look at their description on the Wiki seem more attractive than advanced solar panels).

they do.. the max though a single reactor gives is 32 eu/t and would require a nuclear reactor to do.. its a expensive process and one i am working out the costs but imho in the long run worth it!

You can use EnetBridge (see pending addons, i'm too lazy to link it now) for conversion.
But i guess not now, you might want to wait until BC 6.something (which uses RF) is out, since EnetBridge works better with RF conversion.

i was thinking that.. so its just oil and i would be ok with that :)

So i am seeing that i will eventually have to add buildcraft for pipes for things.. making alot of options easier .. so my question is..

Buildcraft.. and oil! and thats all i am seeing.. so ..

my goal is to NOT change the world .. IE i don't want to start a new world.. :) i enjoy what i have so far..

Does the lack of oil present ANY issues for powering buildcraft things? IE can i use IC2 EU to power with the converter player made?

What am i missing without oil/fuel?

Is there any way to add oil to a sand biome already ? ( IE with MC edit if thats possable or if its possable to delete the area and let it respawn ( for areas i am not using)

yes a pipe mod should not be needed, but currently it is.

yes thats the problem I have too, the steam generator should only output what it should produce, otherwise the "pressure" to ouput anything should not be reached.

agreed! make it so its simple to get things working and easier to get the superheated steam!

i will have to look at it.. but i have a feeling that a pipe mod should not be needed!
It should make it more manageable but not increase energy out..

one problem is i can't put together how it woudl fit in IC2 without the pipes .. and i am doing a creative world.. not real yet because i wanted to iron out the designs before building in the real world ( since a explosion in world would annoy the heck outta me)

thought i was the only one that dont like him.

I think its nothing bad with getting help. someone wants help, and can get it here, and someone dont want help and discovers things for himself.
    So whats your problem, rawcode?

he is a jerk and a troll imho not good for the board
