    -1 for tin cable modification


    i like the idea of the ULV storage/transformer... but i haven't in my mind a single application for that as if i have to transport EU, i prefer transferspeed, so i choose HV, and if i have to store EU i go for sure for a batbox that is already the correct voltage for machines... so...

    +1 for the energy tap... even if any other kind of cable are already denied and there is an addon that do this better...

    That way the nano and the quantum suit become really similar to the Energy suit of Metroid... A full protection modular suit with a scanner computer integrated! So much information can be acquired from a system like this! PURE LOVE!

    To descend, either remove the power from the magnetiser, take off your metal shoes or have a dedicated unpowered descent pole (a descent pole can be as long as you like - it doesn't need breaks). To descend safely. hold crouch while falling and make sure that you're pressed up against the pole.

    Maybe i'm a little noob to ask this... but i tryied many times and i never been able to descend with the pole, i always go straight up... it's frustrating! there is a way to descend safetly the pole, or i must continue to make pools under my poles?

    ok before we get a little buff crazy lets remember 2 things
    first single use batteries were originaly made as a convenient/cheep way to transport energy to remote sites(cause they stack)
    second 1 recipe makes 8 batteries(with hydrated coal dust) so you only need 4 of everything for a stack


    first, they are NOT convinient, ABSOLUTELY NOT CHEAP and as u say a batpack will do the job better... single use battery must be the first-ultra-base way to EU generating, even before generators. Ultra cheap, ultra common, Ultra low gain, Ultra low storage (The only point respected), ultra HIGH manage, source of EU in the game. As they are, TOO MUCH MATERIAL -> very little EU.
    second, u need to craft 8 of them to make a stack: 8x8=64. So 8 insualted cable, 8 hydrated coal dusts, 8 redstone, a minium of 625x8=5000EU spend to create the dusts, 64.000-5.000=59.000 EU trasported... less than a batpack... pfui... such a waste of material...


    I will accept this cost of material if i create only one battery from the recipie, that hold like a normal RE-batteries...

    I'm playing IC2 since v1.62 and i can say for sure that i NEVER craft a sigle use battery!


    They are too UP! so much up that are nearly useless even in early game!
    They have 4 big problems:
    1. They use rubber which is always poor before u craft an extractor which must be crafted AFTER the macerator to make the batteries itself. Is correct that i can smelt resin instead, but this is a big waste and at the time that i have this processing machine i usually have 1 gen, 2 BATBOXs(!) and an eletric furnace. I can do RE-batteries with no IC machine, and i NEED the macerator for the cheapest solution? IS A PARADOX!
    2. They use redstone, not a problem to find in fact, but if u have the time to go deep near bedrock for redstone, u have high chance to find tin on your way down, so u prefer to craft a RE-battery directly instead of single use. I will use the copper cable for something that i never loss, the coal used in single use to smelt the tin and the redstone i used for 10 (that is nominal 10.000EU) one use battery are the same of 1 RE battery (full 10.000EU capacity) that i can use forever and ever.
    3. As i make 1-2 trip to badrock, u have enough things to make a simple IC2 lab in your base, if u are lucky with a couple of solars... at this point, as is the point i can create the single use batterys due to the macerator, i already do not need this battery anymore... so WHEN i can use it conveniently?
    4. As i invest so many early-game too much useful material to create EU, i expect to have something durable. After u use it they vanish! WHAT A WASTE! Is correct theat they hold EU at creation, BUT I CAN USE NEAR THE SAME MATERIAL TO MAKE SOMETHING INDESTRUCTIBLE THAT I CAN ALSO BUILD IN SOMETHING ELSE! If they become exausted batterys, that u can recharge simply add redstone OR more coal dust in a crafting table with 5 of this shell, this will save a lot of copper cable and redstone/coal making them a viable choice. This way thay are any way single use, because u can't charge them directly but u have to change the solid exausted part of the battery to obtain the charged one... (i suggest redstone instead of coal, i will put coal directly into generator, and i have a way to produce EU from redstone if i need it).


    They are stackable up to 64? :huh: ? are u fucking kidding me? i never want to craft ONE, i don't know why i want to craft 64 of them!


    By the way, i give +1 at this tread, as ANY buff to this batteries are actually a good thing... (even if i will not use them also with no rubber! :thumbdown: )

    My opinion on this is:
    Collecting bits of metal from lava: Defiantly, only really interesting idea.
    Generates glass: No, stone can be made into sand then glass. there is no real advantage to having massive amounts of glass. (Glass panes are blacklisted)
    Generates energy: No way, this would be a buffed up generator + mass fabricator rolled into one.


    Question about real world physics, due to the fact that copper + tin = bronze, would extracting metal from lava result in bronze instead of tin and copper?


    Balancing question: Without being able to pump lava to this thing, would it eat more tin than it outputs other material?


    Glass: is a waste product of the process... like that if u don't deal with the glass, the machine full a stack of glass and than stop to work because there are no space... so u have to manage the estraction from the machine to continue.


    Generate energy: no way! where u read it? it USE a lot of energy, STOP.


    Balancing: i think that too... if u are able to feed the machine only by tin can, the process must at MINIUM ensure the production of 4 tin ingot from 16 lava only to be profitable... or it need another way to be feeded that not use tin, like buildcraft or as i suggested in the other post, the lava maker under it to feed it directly...

    I like both the idea...
    IMHO the lava must be created with the same amount of EU that u can obtain in a geogen... the balance is respected anyway because of the cost of doing tin can...
    Maybe if u put this immidiatly under the molden electrolyzer it can suck up the lava from the rock melter directly without the tin can...
    Produce home-made lava is by the way a good option anyway... IF u can also harvest it with a bucket...

    mmmhhh... u guys are right, but u need lot of things (expansive lasers and reflectors, computers, whiring, space, space, space) to do that, and is kinda easy to see/avoid that system as u need to pass throughout the laser to activate the whole thing...
    The set up of this suggestion is minimalist, compact and cheaper and u lose even before u enter the room because the sensors are able to detect u outside the room, and the camera in the moment u try to broke a wall to bypass the lasers! the camera and the sensors immidiatly recognize u with only your presence... is a really more powerful tool...
    And if u like the "IMMA FIRING MAH LAZOR!" thing, as they send out a redstone signal upon triggering, they could easily activate your lasers better than the lasers itself :D

    I searched in the forum and i didn't find anything like this...
    I don't know if this is a suggestion for the vanilla IC or for an addon, because it's complexity, but i had this idea and i want to expose it.
    I'm sure that SMP players will use it, and maybe also the SSP players may found some utilities.


    BEWARE LAZY PEOPLE! the post is reeeeeeally long, so be patient.


    Security system: the suggestion is focused on the possibility to know if something or someone enter in a certain area.


    The security system is composed by 4 items:

    This block is the core of the security system, and for work need the other peripherals that i explain below. It also consume 2 EU/t to stay active, accept up to LV.
    Is linked to the other object by a Security remote and can register up to 10 peripherals plus the Security remote itself.
    Upon right click, a new GUI appear, that need to insert a simply 3 number password. The number inserted will be the security password. If nothing is insered, the insertion of the password will be requested at the subsequent access until it get a password. Ones the block obtain that, the password MUST be inserted anytime someone access the block to see and modifyes all paremeters in the GUI. In the GUI u can shut on/off one, multiple or all linked peripherals from distance, and see the state of this one (on/off, quiet/triggered, silent/alarming).
    on/off: explains themself.
    quiet/triggered: indicates if the peripheral is actually reveals something.
    silent/alarming: this is a button that allow the Security control block to know if it must alert u through the security remote or not. (see below)
    U can link peripherals no more distant than 150 block afar from control block.
    From this GUI u can also kick out peripherals from the secuity system that u don't need anymore.
    If u destroy physically a peripherals, this is automatically removed from the security control block register. Every pheripherals can be linked with 1 security control block at a time, starting a new link with a peripheral already linked delete immidiatly the old link.
    NOTE: Security control MUST BE ON to make peripherals work! if the Security control block broke, all the security network collapse, so u must hide this block very well.

    Before u say something, i'm not speaking about block with a sight of wiew!
    This is the principal security block. When placed, this block have a lens on one of the 6 faces that can be re-oriented by a wrench.
    The camera need a 1EU/t to operate, accept up to LV, has a 10.000EU internal storage, and must be linked and activated from the Security control block.
    When activated, the block start scanning the air/glass block area in front of him, for a maxium area of 9x9x9. It scans only the air and glass block area, so if there is a wall, or any other obstacle, the sensibility of the camera will be cut out. So i can put the camera in open field and have an area of 9x9x9 in front the lens, or put it in a empty box of 3x3x3 with cobble walls and have 3x3x3 visibility or make this box of cobble and 1 air/glass (a hole or a window) and have 9x9x9 again. (area occupied by cobble excluded)
    Now if there are any Player entities in the scanned area, the camera triggers, changing the state in the register of the secutity control block and also emits a redstone current.
    The cameral also triggers if it's changed in orientation or destroyed, before is removed from the registery of the security control block.

    This is the secondary security block. This block works exaclty like the infrared camera with 3 differences:
    It have a microphone instead of the lens on the directional face.
    The area scanned is always a 13x13x13 area, not affected by anything.
    It's triggered by any entities in the area: Players, mobs, animals, ecc.

    The Security remote allow u to know from everywhere if the Security control block reveals something by the scanning peripherals.
    To do that, u must link before the remote to the control block by shift-click on it with the remote.
    The remote appear like a portable monitor with a black screen in the middle.
    If there are a new event, it emit a 5 second sound and it's icon change, turning the screen red. Putted in the hotbar and right clicked, it show the events that triggers it in a little GUI.
    For examples:
    "Camera 3 detect a presence!"
    or
    "Sensor 7 has been moved/destroyed!"
    or more
    "WARNING! Security control block's link lost!"


    It stay in this state, until u press a button in the little GUI to reset the log, or shut off the entire system from the security control block.

    I know even if i'm not a minecraft programmer, that this is really hard to code, and also time consuming, but i like the idea and i find it really HAYOISH, so i propoused it anyway.
    I immidiatly realized that the main problem in this suggestion is one: there is a command that allow to scan for entities? could this command be performed by a block in an area? i think at pressure plate and i say yes, but i don't know how pressure plate works so i can only speculate on. this is the key, the fragile balance of this hayoish card castle.
    Anyway, i post this suggestion to know if the people like the idea and if this may have the tools to be coded...
    But no other mods that i know do something similar to this suggestion, so i found it an HAYOISH addiction to IC2!

    Good Idea of recipe, I thougt about something like that but ... do you really think 5 RE-battery is cheaper than 1 Energy crystal ? It won't cost you diamond, but for so many others ressources, I would use the diamond ^^[/size]
    Maybe 1 Lapis block more and 150 000 EU don't you think ? And concerning the :Advanced Circuit: , I would prefer :Electronic Circuit: , because of the following title ^^


    I was already criticized about my material-EU classification in other posts, but i like this mode to think IC2 so i continue to think in this way.
    A lap block have a storage power of 40.000 EU as actually IC2 is, no more no less and i explain why.
    Consider the lappack, it hold 300.000 EU, now subtract the 60.000 EU from the batpack used in the cration of the lappack, the restant EU storage are coming from the 6 lap block are 240.000 EU.
    240.000EU /6 block = 40.000 EU a block.
    Maybe this can be considered a rude method to hestimate EU storage, but i find this logic make much sense as this is the virtually value that the developers apply to this item.


    Yes i really think that 5 re-batteries are cheaper then an energy crystal because u take tons of tin and copper compared of the quantity of diamonds u get in a day digging. U may search for minecraft days and full an invenctory of tin and copper before u can put your hand on few diamonds! Tin and copper are also less precious than iron! I know that it will take 6 copper and 20 tin to do ONE of this, but u usually come back from your mine trip with a load of 100 and more tin ore, with a macerator are 2-3 stack a trip... so i don't see the problem into this, as u do this system exactly because u don't want/don't have to use diamonds!
    This system is a cheaper way to make a mass EU storage with common materials so the better solution is combining lot of single little storages togheter in a good performance solution. A simply batbox that hold 40.000EU is composed by 3 re-batteries, 5 re-batteries aren't that much if u think of it... and i will find much more difficult to find 18 lapis instead of 9, like u suggested.
    As a margin note, this "metallic mass" will explain the great space it takes...


    For the electronic circuit i have nothing to argue, maybe in the storage block can work, but in the control block i raccomand it in both the tier. The control block is a complex intelligent system of internal EU management, so adv. circuits seems more legit to me.

    I know that addon, but i don't like that version, so i proposed mine... if the parachute is a lifesaving, i want that it works even if i completedly forgot about it... so if the think of "wear" a parachute like in the rocket addon is valid, i suggested a parachute from the invenctory (as it emerge ideally from steve invenctory), that works indipendently from the user interaction. Also, my version isn't equippable. Falling is something unexpected, so something that must be equipped to take effect doesn't fit the solution of the problem, think of it:
    If i'm walking next to a deep fracture in the ground or i'm building at layer 250, i will equip for sure the parachute of the rocket science, and i will feel secure from than on. but if u are mining in a canyon underground, u also need the batpak for your tool, or the nano suit against the mob. The protection of the parachute is no more a protection if i have to knowingly equip that. If i already exchange from defense power to EU supply, i never want to change to parachute every time i have to move a step. If a monster surprise me, the probability that meanwhile running or being hit i fall in the canyon are huge, and i never had the time to reequip my parachute before i touch the ground... So this version don't offer the proper solution at the problem, i think...
    So i see my idea like a Emergency parachute, like the 2° parachute of the skydivers that automatically open if they reach an altitude even if the wearer is unconscious.
    In fact it only open if u will take 3 full hearts of damage from falling. U just have with u this and if the situation become risky it will save your life. U just have the rocket science version and u will die even if u have a parachute with u...

    Consider the fact that isn't an armor, is a vest, so it don't offer much defence against mob...
    It do what it was thinked to do... is a specialized armor, useless for any other propouses...

    Lifesaving 1: Parachute

    if u have this item in your inventory, u fall and this fall will give u more than 3 full heart of damage at the impact, the parachute will automatically open and let u slowly descend to safe at non damage speed. U can slowly control the parachute, but u can't jump or choose the speed of descending. Right click to unhook the parachute at mid air. The parachute is non-stackable and can be used only one time, ones steve touch the ground, the parachute vanish. It's an easy and economical way to avoid fail and catastrofical jump or stupid creeper that gently push u into a deep canyon before u can say "HO SHIT"!

    If equipped like a normal vest it won't let u dive underwater, leaving u floating on the water stably without holding jump button and going up and down on the surface. The speed movement on the surface remain the same as without the life jacket.
    If u have this item in your invenctory, it stay quiet unless u have air. If u finish the air, the air in the tin can in the jacket swell the rubber part of the jacket and fastly resurface like u are "falling" at the surface. As the surface is reached, the life jacket auto-equip on you, starting to work like if u equipped it. If the jacket autoequipped, upon leave the water, or unwear, the jacket dissapears.

    If equipped like a normal vest, the Antibolt jacket prevents all damage from EU flowing and teslacoil redirecting all the current at the ground.
    If u have this item in your invenctory, it will shield u in the same way but at a cost: the jacket will be damaged because the electronic circuit have to dissipate the current instead of the ground. After a total of 100.000 EU absorbed in this way, the jacket vanish.

    wel, dont start what you cant finish, what advanced way of energy production is there after an nuclear gen hmm?
    if you see it as "mid game" what do you see as end game? solar pannels? pffrt.


    CASUCS are easy to make, mark 1 2 3 4 5 all easy to manage if you know redpower. or just babysit it if u dont know. even breeders, hell i go for CASUC all the way. neutral CASUC breeders are also easy to make. just do your homework and you wont end up with an crater.


    I speak about what i know... if u say that also CASUC and breeder are easy to manage, i trust u, but this confirm what i think: Nuclear reactor aren't that difficult as they say!


    We don't need to make some OP to overtake nuclear reactor... we need to improve it to "the very end generator", and/or make a viable alternative.
    If we search for EU generators, we found 4 ELV generators, 1 LV generator(geogen) and the reactor that produce from LV to EV!
    Maybe making a MV generator will fill the gap between the low tier generators and the nuclear reactors, pushing the sensation of needing of reactors far late in the game.
    Don't ask me what can produce MV... Maybe some dedicated fuel burning turbine... so if i burn it in there i take a bonus in the efficency, maybe producing it in 1/x of the time but i can only burn fuel... is an example...


    I don't know... but i feel the nuclear reactor MUST be the last generator, but as it is, it isn't!
    It haven't that complexity that i expect... this is the reason that i support new nuclear reactors components or solution... only 3 (in fact 2) components for control it are a too poor choice, now more than before as Al is introducing the new control block that resolve all the need of a nuclear reactor engineer...

    I absolutedly don't like this random thing... we are technician, we don't assemble machine random and see what happen... HAYOISH thing don't came by fortune!
    If we want some upgrading of this kind, then we can talk about the famous Nanotech suggestion...
    it seems to me really more industrialish and pratical... i wanna see no more under glass brains! X(
