Maybe after Forge has hook for HUD display. All armor would show EU left, fuel or something.

No need, point in case Thaumcraft and the googles.

Great, but night vision is possible then?
+1 for a blocky translucent HUD for jet pack, bat pack, and armor status! Maybe take it a step further and add a pair of goggles or helmet upgrade that adds augmented reality in the game, such as cross hairs over a battery box and it's power and charge info shows up in the HUD! Reactor show temp etc...
Industrial Terminator Vision FTW!!!

It reminds me of Crysis Nano vision...
Heat detector, target distance , etc...
Maybe Holographic upgrades on any storage boxes/machine displaying power level , item processed , Time until completion.
I like this idea so +1
As for the HUD.
Why not integrate the functionality with the nano and Quantum helmets. We do include glass/reinforced glass in the recipe, so it'd have something to put the HUD on.
That way the nano and the quantum suit become really similar to the Energy suit of Metroid... A full protection modular suit with a scanner computer integrated! So much information can be acquired from a system like this! PURE LOVE!
+1 for sure

Fixed
and pretty much. Now if only we had a screw attack, ice beams, power bombs and the ability to morph into a ball.
I'd settle for a charge beam though.
Back on topic now. If we integrated functionality with the helmets to display charge/fuel and flight time remaining, would it be possible to also add a speedometer and altimeter?
Maybe OP or somebody should repost this as Suggestion: HUD since it's gone from jetpack fuel meter to HUD.....
i like all the ideas i hope this would get used in the next update
Just asking: Isn't the next update going to utilize the official modding API, as in "we don't need a Forge hook but a way the API gives"?

Forge is utilizing it, not IC².
I thought that it was impossible at first without baseclasses until I saw TC2's goggles. However, I need to ask Azanor or LexManos (FTB timer mod) how do they draw in the screen every tick without flickering.
i would guess some form of GUI buffer.I don't think that minecraft handles the main in-world GUI the same as it handles other GUI's, thus the render FPS can be faster than once per tick, while the furnace gui, for example, updates no more than once a tick.(probably involves tile entities) This is implemented naturally in java's Swing GUI API when drawing the window for Java application screens, so I'm guessing that Minecraft does the same thing.
jad it!
also you dont need forge for GUI - just blackmage it reflections.
since it's possible to display any type of data, additional suggestion - display nano-quantum parts durability as GUI element, to remove lavaswimming surprice element.

You don't even need to overload any functions - you can just call the existing ones.
