I think that platinum should be added, but NOT by being mined. One would get platinum by smelting platinum ore. It could be used for a lot of IC2's advanced things, and when being smelted in an induction furnace with space in the output slots, would have a 1/10 chance to produce an iridium clump, which could then be compressed to receive an iridium plate. (Because real iridium is gotten from platinum, and a lot of the time when you have platinum you actually have platinum-iridium alloys) Platinum would notably be used for creating the Tier 4 stuffs, like mass teleporters, ion cannons, etc.
[Suggestion] Platinum, and changes to Iridium

Sorry but i think that gots shot down like all the Silversuggestions
-
Unless you post some uses from Platinum that DOESN'T involve replacing materials from other recipes, i seriously doubt anyone is going to take this suggestion seriously.
-
if its not mined where does it come from? can't be mass fab cause you'll just be better off getting iridium the normal way

alchemy suggetion to tech mod...
there is no way to transmute one metal into another by only heat or pressure or anything, you need fusion for this.
fusion furnace (that will copy RP alloy furnace) to smelt something into something different is ok, smelt platinum into iridium is not ok.

Oh really? So i guess brass and bronze and similar metals are just made magically no?

Hint : Tin + Copper. Not one ore into another one

There's a difference between metals and alloys. Brass & bronze are alloys, mixed metals.
Tin, copper, iridium and platina are all metals. And yeah you'll need fusion of some sort to create different metals out of other metals. -
Fine you both win that round, but still OP never mentioned anything about "Transmutation" nor "Fusion".
Iridium can be considered one of the "Impurities" of raw Platinum, so with a proper process of heating and some other stuff you can actually clean that impurity leaving you with platinum in one side, and iridium in the other (Although the amount of iridium gotten with these processes its minuscule)

Native platinum contains iridium. Not much, but it does. -
WOOT???
you cant turn one metal into another without nucklear fusion (or magic) hypotetical variable chance for iridium ore to contain any platinum (wtf its UUM generated and supposed to be 100% pure) is not option for additional tier in techbased mod IMHO.
ability to stack 9999 iridium for more advanced metal is option only for korean MMORPG (and possibly EE) and not really fun and techbased.

What? everyday that passes i understand you less.
Real life talking, iridium its found as one of the natural impurities inside platinum.:
QuoteIridium was discovered in 1803 among insoluble impurities in natural platinum
Minecraft talking, W/E i have said it already.
