For the mineral wool idea, wasn't there already a basalt block in IC2? It may have been removed since there was no recipe or generation iirc, but if it's still there you could just add a recipe and use that with ore dictionary support for other mods basalt too.

Could you not just divide the length of the wire by the distance to lose 1 EU/t? For example, copper cable loses 1 EU/t every 5 blocks, so if you had 20 blocks of copper cable you'll do 20 divided by 5, which is 4, meaning that you lose 4 EU/t for energy going through that wire.
As for Iron fences, the need to be placed on top of a powered magnetiser, and you need to be wearing metal boots (might not work with other mods' boots, so try iron and gold, if they don't work then it is bugged.)

I'm having a problem with knife crafting, in that weaker knives are breaking way too easily. For example, if I craft bread and a neutronium knife, it takes 100 durability as normal, but if I use a flint or bronze knife (with full durability) the knife is consumed instantly snd has no breaking sound.

Are there any known conflicts with optifine/other mods in the latest version? After playing on my world for a while, the game starts to have massive delay when doing anything other than walking, but it gets fixed when I reload chunks (eg going to the nether or exiting and re-entering). I'm not really sure what's causing it and the logs don't show much

Go to the file called 'unification' and find the part for EnderIO and ProjectRed and set the entries for the ingots and dusts to true

HI there some minor bugs or what not.
Molten Zinc from Tinkers construct are not compatible with bathing pot and bath.
Electrotine dust from project red after change not usable for PR batteries and as fuel in electrotine generator.
Solarium energetic alloy, vibrant alloy and its nuggets from Ender IO after GT change ar nor usable in Slice'N'splice recipes , in alloy smelter and in crafting vibrant crystal.Seems like ore dictionary issues. Best solution is to change the config to unify to the ingots from their respective mods, although you may also want to request the other mods to use ore dictionary inputs for their recipes. This doesn't apply to Tinker's however, because I believe that the molten liquids are only meant for the smeltery (as the ratios of metal:liquid are different between GT and TiCon)

You've just described Factorization's solar power generation exactly. All that really does is make solar power even more unwieldy because of how much space it takes, which is one of the things the improved wind and water generators directly try to solve (though I do agree that it should take a lot of space), while at the same time allowing the player to get a bit too much power (in my opinion anyway) from literally nothing.
Instead, I think a better approach would be an array solar system similar to immibis' advanced machines method. Non-tile entity blocks (either as mirrors or an actual solar array) connected to a central generator which outputs HEAT, not steam (it's there for a reason).

I'm not saying that people should be crafting 1000's of screws and doing nothing with them, i'm complaining about how the goal of many modded minecraft players is just to hoard resources and just do nothing with them except make machines to get more resources. It's really a problem because most mods and modpacks focus around nothing but overgathering and no actual end goal or progression.

Overproduction is not the real problem, overgathering is. Instead of crafting 1000's of screws, people just store the ingots for 1000's of screws and don't craft anything with them.
