I hate having to find tetrahedrite or stibnite

Blood Asp: since 5.09.08 I can't seem to get the oil drill to work - it is using power, and I've supplied mining pipes via the input bus but the pipe is not lowering, and no oil is being drilled. The UI says it is running perfectly as well.. not sure what I am doing wrong, or if it is a bug? The chunk I am in has 853355 Natural Gas as well, so it isn't that there's nothing to drill for. Any insight is appreciated.
Edit: If it is placed directly on bedrock it functions, without using any mining pipes, and without any being present in the input bus.

Added Battery Chargers (Battery buffers that charge 16x faster).
Yehoooo! Now charging Ultimate Battery will take "just" 1743 years! -

The mining pipes go into the slot in the GUI of the drill, not the input hatch. The input hatch needs mining fluid to work.

Mining fluid? Whats that?
-
Ah, right. The name was Drilling Fluid!
-
And i wondered why there is a liquid input for the new Multiblocks
. I assume the Advanced Miner II also needs this fluid?
-
Actually only the Advanced Miner II currently... Somehow forgot about the oil drill while adding the drill going down.
-
Hey Blood Asp, I must still be doing something wrong. The input hatch is filled with drilling fluid, the drill GUI has a stack of 64 mining pipes in it, the drilling rig is draining power from my battery buffer, and yet it is not drilling down to bedrock, and nothing is appearing in the output hatch.
I've uploaded an album to imgur of the setup. Could you let me know if anything is done incorrectly? Thanks

On the first look, everything seems fine. I did so far not test a few senarios like no oil in the chunk or high overclock.
In creative mode, the scanner outputs additional data when scanning about how much and what type of oil is in that chunk.

The turbine rotors will get a rebalance soon. Other changes will not happen to fusion in gt5. Circuit production will get a huge change. Including cleanrooms and a lot more.
I'm going to rise the nuclear output soon, so the build costs make sense. Expect the fluid reactor output to triple, the electric reactor about double. Only mox and thorium will not rise as much.
Sounds fair! MOX is almost cheaty by comparison to E-U. However even still the entire system is wierdly nerfed. AFAIK, IRL nuclear fission is the highest energy output for plant size to any other technology. So it seems silly that a nuclear reactor can't keep up with a simple diesel engine!
This will finally encourage me to learn how the liquid nuclear reactors work in IC2. Unless the system will be totally gregiated, which is even better. Also, is the oil drill, prospector, and drilling fluid already in? Because I don't see the fluid as craftable and the wiki suggests the drill and such don't work yet?

Yes it is. The fluid can be crafted from lubricant and water cells
-
Lubricant and water? That's a bit different than the composition listed in the Wikipedia article that Blood Asp linked. Bentonite and barite already exist in GregTech, so those could have been used instead.

Drilling fluid recipe is (in GT): 5 water cells, 1 stone dust, 20L lubricant in a mixer= 5cells Drilling fluid. Cheap and well obtainable. But I would like to have a better drilling fluid made from bentonite and oil, increasing the speed or the efficiency of the miner.
-
It would be a good use of barium considering it doesn't have a real use and later game bases just have thousands of the dust sitting around.
-
Drilling fluid is needed in huge amounts (About 2000L per block mined). The reason why i even added it, is to make an infrastructure needed. Not only energy, but also large amounts of fluid need to be brought to the mining site. While barite has no use and comes in quite large amounts, it is still not enough for huge mining operations. The advanced miner II is allready quite complex to use it for mining. So that it actually will get used, i gave it the huge output bonus. Random 1-4x output. In average about 2,5x as much as normal mining and macerating. But actually building multiblocks outside the base, building energy and fluid supply should be enough work that it is not OP. It also only works with natrually generated GT ores. Mining GT ores another way, replacing and mining them with bonus inside the base does not work.
-
I was thinking of perhaps a fancier version of the lubricant something similar to what lubricant is to water for the cutting machines. So it takes less EU but more materials. Maybe something like 1 barite dust added for every 5 cells. Even less depending on how you want to balance it. Just a thought though not really necessary.

How is the range of miner and oil rig?

2000L per block?
That is a lot.
But it will be definitely worth it when used at uranium, pitchblende, platinum or Naquadah veins -
How is the range of miner and oil rig?
The oil drill has no "range" but the oil amount is defined every 96x96blocks. The miner has a range of 47 blocks, so it mines an 95x95 area. 4 GT veins at once.
