Luminators kill CPUs, like literally they were born solely with the purpose to destroy them.
Luminators are coded but inoperable due to an annoying limitation in the MCEngine. We requested MCForge to add a fix, appears it got dropped somewhere, probably i should poke Spacetoad again.

Oh that's news, last I heard they just locked up MC like mad.
Be careful not to poke Spacetoad too hard, his outer skin is wet and soft and tears easily.
Switches can be faked a few ways, like with a BatBox/MFE/MFSU (redstone effectively turns it off until it's full, which is at least similar to a switch) or a transformer (with the right wiring, reversing the polarity of the transformer will create a situation with no power flow). The Power Systems IC2 addon created a switch block, but it's out of date. I've contacted the author to see if I can nab the source for it, because it looked useful.

A true fan of IndustrialCraft², i've been searching how to use the luminator for ages on google and youtube for 1.8.1 but no joy i see a couple of posts relating to the luminator please bring it back if possible and even add to it, i plan to fit out street lighting and home lighting hopefully you can switch it off but its not a problem if you cant i will just build a seperate power station for this job.
Wish your mod was in minecraft allready but im getting the hang of installing mods now, you extend the game in such a real and fun way thankyou and i hope we get a range of lights to use even 1eu a tick, i know its alot but i build big enough storage to run this at night and with an on/off switch even better.

Nope.
Spontanously decided to rework Luminators as a temporary solution, turning them into custum-rendered neon pipe-like things.
Will stick to ground, wall, ceiling, only to solid blocks or fences/cables.
Any other exception for non-solid blocks they need to stick to, i've forgotten?
That depends, is glass considered solid for that purpose? I can't imagine why one would want to, but it should still be considered.
Also, Construction Foam - given the wiring issue that you already mentioned was to be fixed in the next update.

I, for one, would love to see glass. However cables have to be run anyway right?
Will add Glass. Construction foam probably not, but the hardened wall should accept luminators per default.
Sweet, I can imagine the cable walkways now... cable floor, glass/Re.Glass walls and cieling. The new luminators on the sides.

Do not know. but it would be so good if you can turn off and on.
I agree... we have lights that burn power... but no switches for them?
