Does the current release work with Minecraft 1.2? My friend and I play on a server and if we were to hypothetically, update the minecraft stuff and leave the IC2 and Buildcraft stuff alone, would the game function?
Minecraft 1.2 Compatibility

Nope. Remember this mod needs ModLoader (already 1.2.3 compatible), ModLoaderMP, and Forge to be updated. You'll have to wait.
-
Look at the top banner right above this post, it'll tell you.
-
Also updating your server without the mods will delete all the mod added blocks and items, items in chests cause crashes when the chest is opened (well in Beta they did).
-
We don't have crashes with chests when removing mods. Just when items are left over in machines like filters, autocraftingtables and any auto systems before the removal. Null point exceptions loops are fun.

tbh I thing forge update could take a while. If I remember right spacetoad is the author of that mod, but he has just handed over development of buildcraft and suspect he may do the same with forge as from reading his post looks like he dont have time to maintain anymore. If this is the case could take a while. Them people take over the mod will need time to learn the code ect in the mods.

Spacetoad gave control on the forge project a long while ago, right now the current maintainer its LexMannos and its been like that for a few months i think.

Ah glad I was wrong

Flan has updated MLMP to 1.2.3, still need to wait on LexManos - he got Forge on client and partially on server (missing MLMP parts since it wasn't updated back then), we'll probably start when it's released
-
LexManos has a 1.2.3 compatible Forge, it is the latest version, not the recommended, which may have some bugs. The download link is:
http://www.mod-buildcraft.com/forums/topic/forge-downloads/
I downloaded it myself and it worked fine. But Modloader 1.2.3 won't install Ic2, it tells me that it "failed to load mod from mod_ic2.class" so I'm going to make a thread with the whole error log.
kthx

Probably because Industrial Craft isn't updated.

Anyone know how progress is coming? Guys on my server are about ready to eat me alive....
-
Last time I tried, Forge had creative population issues and random texture glitches.
-
It would seem that Forge is 1.2.3 under the 'Recommended' tag. But from what I've read elsewhere, Forge is still a mess. On top of everything, everyone seems to be a little ticked off about the whole red herring about the more block ID's.
-
Looks like MLMP V3 fixed the ID number issue. Good to see progress being made.

You mean that we have the 4096 ID's?
-
I don't know much about modding, but...
Would it be possible to update IC2, and then the glitches with Forge will resolve themselves whenever it updates? Or are they things that need to be resolved before work on IC2 can be started?
-
Patience is key, fe I always wait atleast 1 week before even considering the new version.
Heck, I was still enjoying 1.0.0 when 1.2.3 came out. -
Yeah, that's a fair point, and then I'd get to enjoy the mods for longer. This might be a silly place to ask this, but is it possible to revert back to a previous version of minecraft?

1. Backups.
2. Backups.
3. Seriously! I even got old 1.6er vanilla jars sitting around.
4. There's a tool called MCNostalgia, capable of reverting jars back to older dates.
