A nuclear powered car?!?! Time to start saving up
Technically it's not nuclear-powered, since the energy comes from the density of thorium, not its radioactivity.

Thorium prices in a few years might even be lower than prices for oil

Your Post implies that Thorium gets cheaper, but it is Oil getting more expensive.
Well I meant Thorium before using it as a car fuel will be cheaper than oil at that time. Once it's car fuel, I smell inflation.
Even then, thorium is super common and would take a very long time to run out of.
I dare to claim that that's what they used to think about oil.
The thing is, a car would run for a century over thorium fuel, while it wouldnt last a day while using fossil fuel.
I know that, in volume or mass there may be muuuuch more fossil fuel, but i bet that we can mine enough thorium to last for over a millenium.
But...think of the action movies! Exploding fuel is much cooler than a little exploding Thorium
In unrelated news, I have found my arch enemy: Testing.
Wool Dyer: works, I tested it with the wrong recipe.
OreDict Crafting in a big loop: works, the itemstack I used to test it was somehow damaged, even though that type of item couldnt even be damaged (wtf).

I think that thorium undergoing a fission while in a car tank would cause a pretty damn explosion, if not, a stupidly high radioactive environment.
I just wonder if we can power an electric car with RTGs...
That way we could use materials less inclined to undergo fission, like strontium (maybe americium) ?
A shame the article did not mention the size of the fuel rod.

Actually, we can calculate it according to this information : "The company is experimenting with a mini-turbine that would use about eight grams of thorium to fuel your car for 100 years"
Density is 11,7 g per cm3 so...
8/11,7 = 0,683 cm3 , less than a mililiter (1cm3) of thorium.
That would be a cube with n = 0,88cm.
Why not have minecarts or other form of vehicles dragged by Horses or Donkeys? The idea:
DONKEYCRAFT!

Well good luck shooting at that.
Minecarts with one horsepower
Edit : i don't think that 8g or 0,683 cm3 of thorium would be enough to cause a big explosion, but at least somewhat contaminate the environment, if exposed, in a car accident, for example.
We'll just give people some suits made of flowers and rubber, and everything will be fine.
Although i doubt they would let it to get exposed so easily. If well protected, it would be able to withstand the worst accidents ever while keeping the "fuel tank" safe, ready to be recycled.

Sorry but Etho already patented his Donkey Cart.
Sorry but Etho already patented his Donkey Cart.
I said it first. I out patent him
When did you say it? Was it before 2013.08.12? Because the Donkey Cart was first Advertised then in Episode 288.
I could have thought about it since they came with donkeys...
Anyway, neither of them has a mod called donkeycartcraft or anything like that has creative license or whatever those things are.
